Rating: Summary: EMOTIONAL -SENSITIVE - INSPIRING Review: I first stumbled across this viodeo in a library in London. I have watched it time and time again. Its content are not fiction but reflections on the past lives of South African Blacks and their struggle for survival and liberation under the white apartheid regime. If I were Black South African, I would have died alongside those freedom fighters who are not here today. This video can make you to shed tears whether you are white or black. Injustice and maltreatment of human by fellow human can be counter productive. Watch Sarafina, own your copy and pay attention to Africa's continuous problems. Its about time the imparialists and colonialist feel guilty and sorry for their sins, God bless Africa.
Rating: Summary: A mix of beauty and passion Review: I have never seen Sarafina but I think this is supposed to be a review of the soundtrack anyway. I do want to see the movie eventually just because of the music for it.
I listened to the song samples and decided immediately that I HAD to have this album, despite not seeing the film. Very few soundtracks are quite so compelling. Titanic and The Little Mermaid immediately spring to mind as examples, but as you see, the ability to stand alone is the hallmark of a good soundtrack. Tracks six and seven are far and away my favorites on the CD. The choral arrangements are simply stunning and give me tingles of pleasure every time. The harmonies are profound and the beauty awe-inspiring. I love the ethnic feel to the music and the talent of the singers. This is defintely worth the money, and actually, I think it's a good deal because I got more than I paid for.
Rating: Summary: Thank You, Momma Review: i loved the musical. it made me feel part of the whole world. i would like the words to "THANK YOU MOMMA" for mother's day. could anyone send them to me at faulkin@accessus.net? thank you. susan
Rating: Summary: Still powerful after all this time Review: I think all who have seen Sarafina agree it is a powerful movie. What's more, it's beautiful at the same time. Listen to the voices of the choir in this movie. Sarafina started as a musical, and that talent is prevalent in the film version as well. The accapellas are spectacular, and the choir sings in South African fashion. It gives me a chill. I enjoyed seeing Whoopi Goldberg in a dramatic role, versus the comedy shtick she usally does. Lastly, tt's interesting seeing the conditions that apartheid era blacks lived in South Africa. Thank goodness apartheid is over. I'm glad what we see in this movie is now history!
