Summary: Great Movie!!!!!
Review: I loved this movie from the first few scenes to the last scene. It was unconvential in its telling of a off beat relationship, but some part were strictly hollywood in nature. They are forgiveable becaue the rest of the movie is great. Sam Rockwell is a good actor who gives so much understated emotion to the character Trent. Mischa is great as Devon, she makes this film brilliant, especially in one scene, which is unforgettable.

Devon Is The Friend You Always Wanted ;Trent is The Friend You Always Needed. The Appeal Of This Film Can Be That Simple.Devon Keeps Your Soul Young & Heart Filled With Hope. She Gives Only Wanting Friendship In Return & Eventually Sacrifices IT For Her 'Best Friend's' Freedom. Filled With Symbolism Through-out.

Summary: great story, acting, and cinematography!
Review: Lawn Dogs is one of the best movies that I have seen. It is a drama with a healthy dose of humor, and the two stars are amazing. Ten year old Mischa Barton plays Devon, an independant young girl from a rich family who befriends Trent (Sam Rockwell), a poor man in his early twenties. The acting is superb and the two have a good chemistry together. Despite what most reviews will tell you, young Mischa Barton is the star (child actors often don't get the credit they deserve) and she is a wonderful actress. I don't want to spoil the story, but the plot is like a modern-day fairy tale (not an adventurous fairy tale, but a tale about their secret friendship). You will enjoy this movie!

Summary: Wounderfuly accomplished story
Review: This movie has it all. A fantisy of the "supernatural" kind. "Lawn Dogs" keeps you guessing as to the outcome. The outcome will suprise you.

HIGHLY RECOMENDED(this movie WILL be added to my video collection)

Summary: Loved it, drew us in and exploded with dramatic realism.
Review: I loved it. I started watching it, actually on scrambled Showtime. I don't get Showtime, but it was one of those times when I could barely pick it up with the sound. I was blown away. I was watching T.V. with my freind Ben as we were flipping channels. I am so glad I caught it on, and stayed to watch it. It definately makes my top 10, it may even be on of my 3 favorite movies now. I was blown away by how excelent the acting was. It was an intreaguing story and has a twist ending: If you have seen it, the thing with the river and forest. Manifique!!!!!!

Summary: "Lawn Dogs" is a MUST SEE!
Review: I just rented this movie on a whim, and was positively blown away by it. It is definitely in my Top 10 Favorite Films list. The acting is top notch--in particular Sam Rockwell, who's charismatic, multi-layered performance is astonishing--and the imagery unforgettable. I reiterate--this is a MUST SEE film! Prepare to be enchanted, disturbed, entertained, and, finally, inspired by the power of great film making.

Summary: Could have been better, but still a fantastic film.
Review: This movie was not perfect, and there were certain aspects that I, personally, would have altered. There weren't many, though. A few scenes in the movie had me laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. Others were really moving, and you constantly have to feel for Trent, who feels class discrimination in almost every scene. Her parents were played as wonderfully one-dimensional, and her mother's lover was especially menacing, without being over-the-top. I admit to feeling uncomfortable with Trent and Devon's relationship, but by the end of the movie you realize that the real dangers are much closer to home. The ending is, in a way, trite, but the fairy tale tie-in more than makes up for it. Overall, a very emotional movie. You're guaranteed to be uncomfortable, upset, etc. throughout the whole movie, but by the end your emotions will be centered much more acutely on the real dangers to Devon's spirit.

Summary: Aussie director scores again!
Review: I did not realize that director Duigan also directed Sirens and several other movies that affected me until I searched the credits of this DVD. The movie is special in so many ways: real though unusual people, strange but believable situations, and a hint of the supernatural. And PLEASE tell me how they accomplished the river/bridge scene at the end! Wonderful, sad but uplifting movie!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the best movies ever!
Review: Love, lust, friendships, immagination, quarrels, joy, sorrow, humour, etc. this movie has some of everything. It is even missing the typical (fictional) Hollywood, "and they lived happily ever after" ending.
