Review: "the soul takes flight to the world that is invisible. but there arriving she is sure of bliss, and forever dwells in paradise." this is the main focus of the movie. jane and gilford taking flight, and being together forever in life and death. when i was very young, around five or six,(i was born in 1984) this was my favorite movie. untill recently when i saw it again, i had forgotten how wonderfull it really is. it is such a great romance tear-jerker, and the fact that it is a true story makes it even more so. every time i see it i burst out crying at the scene in the tower before Gilford is taken away. just seeing him cry, Cary Elwes is trully a GREAT actor!!! it is a must see, to anyone who likes romance, or historical films.

Summary: The Lady Jane Grey Dudley
Review: How odd Jane Grey is such a minor character in history, over shadowed from her cousins Elizabeth Tudor and Mary. This movie sheds light on the intelligent and powerful young woman Jane was, trying to be a good daughter, yet trying to go her own ways and go with her thinkings. Fabulous costumes and scenery in this movie. Helena Bonham Carter is a plus also.

Summary: Great costume drama, poor history.
Review: This movie badly distorts the heroic life of a much tramatized young woman. She did not wish to marry and had to be physically tormented until she complied. Here, the movie departs from history. Once married, she was forced to spend one night with her new husband and her new mother-in-law. She suffered an emotional collapse and was returned to her own family. When she was rushed to London, upon the death of young King Edward, she tried to refuse the crown. Her family, husband and in-laws attempted to threaten her into compliance, but failed because they could not lay hands on the body of the queen. The bishops convinced her to take the crown in order to save England from the Roman church. When she took the crown, she absolutely refused to confirm her husband as King. He could be consort, no more. He had a very vocal tantrum. His mother threatened Jane with another night of marital bliss. Even against this terrible threat she held firm. She suffered another emotional breakdown during her nine days as queen. When informed of her pending execution and her husband's request to spent his last night with her, she refused, stating that they would meet soon enough in heaven. She was prepared for her fate, when Queen Mary's personal confessor mistook something Jane said and asked for three days to convert her. She spent her last days locked in religious arguement. Now the movie returns to history. The cleric finally admitted that a slip of a girl had defeated him and went with her to the scaffold. She had asked for a replica of the block in her cell, so she could practice putting her head on it properly. The scene in which she cannot find the block is chillingly true. As you can see, not a traditional love story, but a spiritual love story. Too bad the writers felt compelled to rewrite history. If you are willing to suspend reality and just enjoy a good costume drama with good acting and a tearjerking love story, you could not do better than watch this one. If you are a historical purist, avoid this one like the Black Death.

Review: This movie is simply fantastic. Helena Bonham Carter was superb in her portrayal of the innocent Lady Jane. If you love history, be sure to check this one out!

Review: This film has everything a film should. There's fighting, fencing, queens, and true love. Not cliched true love, but one that evolves over a span of time. Love that becomes the kind of love we all seek. The love between two friends that is able to go the extra mile.

Review: This is a wonderful movie about a girl who remained true to herself through abuse by both her power hungry parents and a society in upheavel. This movie shows that a powerful story combined with amazing performances can be great movie making. The performances by Helena Bonham Carter , Cary Elwes and Patrick Stewart are a compliment to their current success. This is a must see if you enjoyed the recent Oscar nominated Elizabeth. Oh and be sure you have tissues. I dare anyone not to be touched by this movie.

Summary: A well done piece of history on film
Review: 'Lady Jane' is a great film. Helena Bonham Carter gives a wonderful performance as the ill-fated teen-Queen. Although some 'artistic licence' was taken with respect to the relationship between Jane and her husband Guildford Dudley (Cary Elwes)-in fact they had, at best, an amiable relationship- the story remains relatively true to the actual historical events, and the characters' motives were accurately portrayed. 'Lady Jane' has given life and personality to the historical figures the way no book can.

Review: I saw this movie because I am a big fan of Cary Elwes. I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually good. I think it is one of Cary Elwes' best films and should not be missed by any history lover.

Summary: A heart breaking story beautifully told.
Review: Tells the story of a young woman forced into a role she didn't want, but tries to do what is best for her people. Lady Jane died because she would not forsake her beliefs. This movie proves that a movie CAN be historically accurate and still be entertaining. The industry needs to take note.
