Review: I wish I had the privilege of experiencing this masterpiece on the big screen where it was meant to be seen. It plays like the longest, coolest music video that you've ever seen. Words cant possibly do the costume and make up justice in describing the visual candy that parades and dangles before you. The music takes you through the film effortlessly, some thing very few modern films have been able to pull off with out annoying their audiences. This film certainly isn't for the blind soulless narrow mind, it's voluptuous and celebrates the libertine in all his/her glory. The narration is smooth and an interesting story emerges from the plot, oh and by the way do your self a favor and get the sound track especially if your bored to death with everything being produced these day. Watch this movie and watch it frequently.

Review: This movie tells the story of British glam rock in the early seventies and you will notice the main character has a definite David Bowie look. The story is colorfully told with great actors and music. I think everyone should try this one.

Summary: most amazing thoughts, music and shoots
Review: I loved that movie and I haven't really met anyone, other than my friend who watched it with me, who has seen this brilliant piece of art. We walked out of the cinema and we both had the immediate feeling that something really important is soon going to change this world and our lives. That we ourselves would be the ones who finally toally changed our philosophy of life I can only point out now. If Velvet Goldmine was the reason doesn't even really matter. However Velvet Goldmine helped me to finally understand more of my own yearnings for a different life. I am upset though about how little people have been able to see the movie in Germany, because it has only playde in a few cinemas.

Review: This movie has forever changed my views on life. It's a truly brilliant movie, and I recommend this to everyone. Besides having three yummy U.K. guys (Ewan McGregor, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and Christian Bale), the story was truly original and quite moving. I can't say too much without giving it away, but let's just say it's in my top ten favorite movies.

Summary: so beautiful it hurts
Review: this movie was fantastic. i first saw it because i'm a mega-Bowie fan. i was warned, but i saw it anyway. on first viewing, i liked it, but something didn't quite click. but i kept watching it over and over and grew to love it completely. Velvet Goldmine is visually stunning, it has a fantastic soundtrack, and, most importantly, it depicts an era that is highly-forgotten but still loved by many. glam may not be as remembered as other movements, but it did, and still is, changing a lot of people's lives, and this movie captured that emotional attachment perfectly. however, Velvet Goldmine is only for open-minded people and those willing to use your imagination. if you aren't willing to let your mind fill in the blanks, don't see this film.

Review: yes, i along with many others simply rented this movie to see luscious ewan. however, i immediatly fell in love with the whole thing. the story is incredible, the music is entrancing. not only is ewan the #1 actor of this generation- he can sing. jonathan rhys-myers is captivating and talented and sings one of my fav. songs from the sdtk - "tumbling down". excellent performance by christian bale as well. this movie should be watched religiousy, and all due respect should be given to everyone involved in the music. especially thom yorke, who is amazing.

Review: He's done it again! If Todd Haynes never did anything else in his life, he can feel VERY satisfied with his work on "Velvet Goldmine". As the film states in the opening sequence, it MUST be played at MAXIMUM volume. Once the music begins, it's impossible to stop. In today's cinema, films like "Velvet Goldmine" are few and hard to come by. Todd Haynes and his crew are wonderfully concerned with the aesthetic elements, i.e. photography, costumes. If nothing else, the film is worth watching just for Ewan McGregor's crazed, sometime nude performance of "TV Eye". What an amazing actor! Finally...after you have seen "Velvet Goldmine", buy the soundtrack and play it at maximum volume. You won't be sorry!

Review: the supposition that glam rock ever had any value is ridiculous. this is a movie about people & an era best forgotten. i thought this was about punk when i rented it, & even then only got it because of ewan. i'd like everyone else involved to go about pursuing other careers now. most of them ought to be cleaning out urinals in public places.

Review: I must say, I first rented this film because I am a huge Ewan fan, but after I had the chance to experience the beautiful cinematography, the sumptuous costumes, and the highly entertaining story, I was immediately spellbound!!!! I was very little when all this was going on, so I only remember a little of it, but I was lucky to have an older friend who was totally into glam-rock!! I have always loved the glam-rock era, the costumes, the music.....IT TOTALLY ROCKS!!!! I rented it and have watched it over and over for the past 5 days, and I am definitely getting a copy for myself!!! Ewan does the vocals in a few songs and is totally amazing!!!! He is a cross between Iggy Pop and Kurt Cobain!!! And as usual, he is as gorgeous as ever!!!! GLAM ROCK RULES!!! A definite must-see and must-have video!

Review: Jonathan Rhys Meyers is one of the most beautiful and gifted young actors that are out there. He and Ewan McGregor have such a sparkling chemistry--more of the bedroom scene! I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys beautiful boys and loud music!
