Summary: wonderfully addicting and colorful
Review: jonathon rhys meyers gives a beautiful and convicing portrayal of the davie bowie-like character of brian slade. ewan mcgregor is at his best as Curt Wild, american lover to Brian Slade. Todd Haynes fills your senses with color and glitter. the visual aspect is wonderfully amazing and the music and catchy. i bought the soundtrack and i listen to it addictivly. the movie is wonderful, but not for the weak and narrow-minded; a wonderful tribute to the glam rock era.

Summary: ...all that glitters....
Review: alright...let's get passed the fact that this film is to david bowie, what "the rose" was to janis j...but accepting that fine line between fact and fiction only adds to the complex issue of real vs. illusion for the characters, as well as the audience. The directing is tremendous, given the difficult script tracking, and the script itself feautres crisp, adult dialogue, that is very reminiscent of the way movies used to be made. the acting of course, is without reproach, with jonathan rhyes-myers leading the cast as brian slade, and ewan macgregor as (really) the co-star of the film, although his name is most prominent. the very underated toni collette gives another brilliant performance, as she has in such films as "muriel's wedding" and "cosi", and eddie izzard, quite possibly the funniest man alive, gives a smashing "oliver reed"-type performance as slade's manager.(catch his live video, "glorious" for a very different perspective).but while watching this film, remember that the perspective is not the who and what, that's just smoke and mirrors. the important thing is why, and that, for all it's pomp and circumstance, might be what brian slade forgot most of all...and might just be what makes this film so unforgetable...

Summary: I love this movie! Ren it, Rent it again and then buy it!t
Review: This movie is wonderful, even without the Bowie music (since he refused permission to have his songs used). Jonathon Rhys Myers is so androgynously sexual and beautiful, he desreves to have more attention paid to him in the future. Toni Collette and Ewan McGregor are also great, as is Eddy Izzard (as a man this time), but the part abotu Christian Bale was slow.

Summary: Weird - Strange - Don't Bother
Review: I showed this DVD to several of my friends last weekend. We were all expecting a fantastic experience considering all the great reviews this movie received. Boy, were we disappointed! The music is overbearing. The plot - extremely thin. The characters are so poorly presented you don't care if they disappear. Ewan McGregor can be such a great actor. This movie was so much fluff it was hard to distinguish him from the feathers so predominate in some scenes. See Transpotting - A much better flick!

Summary: Image Never Completes You
Review: I think that one of the main themes of it, to me, is that no matter how much glitter, fame, and fans that you have, u can have just as empty of a life as anyone. To fill the missing void in his life, Slade slept around with many people, missing the part about love, which is the only thing he needed. One doesn't know for sure if he really fell in love with Curt Wild. One of the most impression leaving scenes was when Slade(who yields great talent and beauty) and Wild kiss, the noise fading out beneath them. Then, the cameras explode with millions of pictures being taken, and their horrified expressions say it all. The soundtrack is a very rare treat, especially Thom Yorke's singing. The film wasn't eye candy to me, it seemed very dull in many parts. But the scenes where nobody said a word stayed burned into my mind. An extremly interesting and tragic movie, when you read between the lines.

Summary: Amazing, bugaloo boogie of a dazzling movie
Review: This is the greatest movie i have ever seen. It not only has dizzying hallucinogenic visuals, but it beautifully tugs at your heart and emotions. It's a comfort to have such fleshed out painfully realistic characters to identify with. No review or description can capture all that this movie represents to the watcher, it surpasses all others in the genre, and you won't regret it. Watch it Loudly.

Summary: This was the best film I've ever seen!
Review: I'd be lying if I said it wasn't the greatest movie I've seen in a while. Ewan McGregor is my favorite actor. I think he's a genius. Jonathan Rhys-Myers is just as good in this movie though. It was well put together, and had a great plot. It kind of made me think of a certain glam rocker from about that time. (David Bowie-AKA:Ziggy Stardust) I would recomend this to anyone, because it's a fun movie.
