Summary: GREAT MOVIE!
Review: I am a very private person, and never published my opinions of a movie I liked online. With this movie, I have to say something.

I have a new favorite movie. There simply is no more touching movie in existance. I cannot see any reason to give it any less than 5 stars. There are and will be other movies with similar plot lines and characters, but REST ASSURED, it will NOT top Beautiful thing! NO other movie has or ever will want to make me buy any scrap of merchandise available. I have the tape and screenplay, and DEFINITELY will buy the DVD when it becomes available.

I recommend this movie to EVERYONE! The acting was SUPERB, and could not have been topped by any other actors and crew.

See this movie!

Summary: British television is better than most of our film features.
Review: I have a new favorite movie, and this is it. Beautifully written, directed, cast and acted, this movie is a love letter to anyone who has gone through the pain of adolescence, not to mention the pain of coming out. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a naturally funny and poignant romantic sory.

Summary: What a Great Love Story!
Review: This movie is a fresh alternative to typical gay teen angst movies. The script is great, the acting is superb, and the direction is on-target. Even more amazing when you consider that this is the first big project by the writer, actors, and director. Gay coming out films seem so caught up in fear-and-redemption formulas that they forget the romance. Coming out is not an end but a beginning. What waits for you after accepting your sexuality? This film shows you that self-acceptance can bring beauty, romance, and hope. Could that be a little unrealistic? Maybe...but it never hurts to be a little idealistic. Life can be a beautiful thing. :)

Summary: Beautiful !!!
Review: This was just a great movie to watch. One of the few gay-related movies that doesn't have anything really tragic occur. I watch it all the time and love it everytime. A must see for everyone. Buy the soundtrack too; it's great. Mama Cass rocks! Anyway you should see it at least once in your life. It's the kind of movie that makes you feel good about yourself.

Summary: An inspiration for all about true love
Review: this film was an inspiration for all in regards to true love. the young actors portray an innocent and pure friendship turned romance. their struggle is genuine and at times, heartbreaking. this film normalizes gay love and gives a good example of its purity. it is a truly touching love story with an unmatched integrity.

Summary: Great, but not perfect...
Review: I had great fun watching this movie, but it simply didn't turn out as well as I expected it to, based on all these 5 star reviews. However, it rates as a near-perfect film in my very critical mind, and that's enough to give it 4 stars, but I reserve 5 stars for movies such as 'Hollow Reed'.

Summary: ADDICTED TO BEAUTIFUL THING
Review: This movie is by far the best movie I have ever seen. This film should have been nominated for an oscar - along with Linda Henry for best actress. I stumbled upon this film one late night via sattelite. I live in San Lorenzo Ca. (Part of the S.F. Bay Area.) and dont remember this film ever being released. I am now the proud owner of two copies of this video and I'm waiting for the DVD release. I have recommended this film to a few friends - and now they own copies as well. NOTE: This film is for everyone GAY or STRAIGHT! And I truly believe that any parent of a gay or lesbian child should see this film immidiately!

Summary: What A Very Beautiful Thing
Review: This movie was so awesome. I bought it without watching it, and i was not disappointed. I have just recently came out, and this movie made me realize that it was not "A bad thing" to be gay. Now, i only wish i could find someone like Jamie, he would be my prince charming :o) I would recommend this movie to anyone Gay or Straight. I have also bought the soundtrack which is also very good indeed.

Summary: Thirty Years Ago, It Might Have Meant Something
Review: But this sentimental claptrap, rife with working class cliches, just a dash of racism and unrealistic fantasies of sexuality, just shows how desperate some people are for movies to come and simplify everything.

I can certainly see how a gay teenager, especially one who feels under threat, would flip for this film; but as art it is dishonest, shockingly unevolved in its politics, and dangerous. The John Hughes-ization -- heterosexualization and MTV-ization -- of gay life continues at an alarming pace.
