Summary: Historical horror story: study of modern business management
Review: The costumes were wonderful(who cares if the wrong period occasionally arose); the music was stirring;and all through the castles, murderous MI6ce were busy at work making all the enemies a la Milosevic; well-done historical piece... annotated and condensed to avoid any unnecessary historical accuracies...probably upset some uptight academics...thought-provoking as similarities to modern efficiencies in business techniques was utterly on point...that's all for now

Summary: it's very recommandable movie that i ever seen
Review: it was nicely done...the customes, words, settings, every thing makes the audience feel like a citizen in Elizabethan times..

also the story is very interesting. it was like there is a secret in the secret...

well... it's very nice movie that you have to watch with your family...

Summary: Atmospheric and Violent
Review: This is a deeply atmospheric production, haunted by colors--blacks and reds and oranges, the colors of fire and earth. Blanchett is magnificent--far better than her competitors for the Oscar last year--and Sir Richard Attenborough gives a fine performance. On DVD, the vividness of the film's detail is clear, if diminished by the smaller television screen (as all films are). Joseph Finnes is, as usual, beautiful but innefectual, but his performance is my only (admittedly minor) quibble with this powerful film.

Summary: A well cast history lesson. Authentic, passionate and brave
Review: Blanchett is so perfectly cast in the role of Elizabeth. Rush is his usual outstanding self. This movie is authentic (sometimes overly, with a bit of graphic violence), however, this work powerfully depicts the triumphs and tragedies of the longest reigning Queen of Enland. The complex "Virgin Queen". The movie is sure to be a classic. Some amazing performances by an all-star cast. A great way to get a fairly accurate history lesson in one evening.

Summary: Very well done film
Review: I absolutely admired the way in which this film was done. Every shot added to the complexity of the story. I was drawn into feeling as Elizabeth might have felt. It is an excellent exploration into how things may have been. Very plausible, and makes the story very real to a contemporary audience.

Summary: Forget Blanchett, this is Rush's film!
Review: Unfortunately, this could have been a great film, and still is a very good film thanks to Goeffry Rush in a truly magnificent performance! However, many of the actors are very badly miscast. For example, Eric Cantona as the French King's representative! Need I say more! Also it is sad to see very fine, but admittedly lower class actors like Christopher Eccleston trying to play the part of noblemen. It just doesn't work! Stick to shows like Cracker Christopher! Blanchett is okay but as I said, this is Rush's film. He should have got an Oscar!

Summary: PORQUE EL DVD DESCRIMINA ?
Review: UNA DE LAS VIRTUDES DEL DVD ES LA CAPACIDAD DE TENER DENTRO DE SU FORMATO LA POSIBILIDAD DE ESCOGER EL IDIOMA, SIN EMBARGO A ULTIMAS FECHAS LAS PRODUCTORAS DE PELICULAS HAN ELIMINADO EN LOS DVD EL IDIOMA ESPAÑOL TANTO EN SUBTITULOS COMO EN EL AUDIO, PARA LOS DVD DE ZONA 1, ESTO ES PARA OBLIGAR EN EL CASO ESPECIFICO DE MEXICO A ADOPTAR LA ZONA 4 (DENTRO DE ESTA ZONA NO EXISTEN MAS DE 150 TITULOS, SIENDO LA MAYORIA MEDIOCRES), LA MAYORIA DE LOS CINEFILOS MEXICANOS HAN ADQUIRIDO EQUIPOS MULTIZONA (ZONA:1,2,3,4) Y HABLAMOS INGLES, POR LO QUE LES DIGO A LAS PRODUCTORAS DE PELICULAS LA GUERRA LA VAN A PERDER, ES IMPOSIBLE MODIFICAR CON ZONAS EL GUSTO DEL CONSUMIDOR, EN EL CASO DE LOS CINEFILOS QUE NO HABLAN INGLES SIMPLEMENTE NO VAN A ADQUIRIR EN SISTEMA DE VIDEO.

Summary: Wonderful and wrong!
Review: Yes, there is tremendous darkness and violence in this movie---I don't remember ever seeing such a vivid burning at the stake in those opening moments: Cate Blanchett is wonderful---perfect to play the young Queen! Some strange assumptions are made about the history of the period and the Queen's character: for a better picture see Elizabeth R with Glenda Jackson. Some of the conclusions are just too weird.A note about the costumes: if you're going to do a story about Elizabeth and set it in a different historical period for some effect, GREAT! but don't try to pass off early 20th century clothes as Elizabethan. Makes my teeth grate!

Summary: Ah, so that's a 'virgin queen'!
Review: Excellent visual entertainment; portrayal of dark times through cinematography expertly executed. Made every Catholic bone in my body go "ouch".

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: absolutely brilliant.
Review: perhaps one of the best movies ever made. cate blanchett gives a stunning and brilliant performance as queen elizabeth. "elizabeth", being somewhat darker and dealing with more serious matter, is not a happy-go-lucky film as, for example, "shakespeare in love". but these aspects of the film make it even more exciting and certainly worth the oscar nomination. also, magnificent performances from joseph fiennes, geoffrey rush, and christopher eccleston.
