Rating: Summary: Fan Recommended!!! Review: I first watched this movie (with my father and sister) more than 20 years ago, I was a kid. Then film is reissued and I got it. I have the VHS version (believe it or not I'm still playing VHS!!!)of this re-release and it looks great, sound quality is great (much better than McCartney's Get back concert) and images are perfect, I have no home theater and picture looks and sounds great in my Sony Wega TV set. Song mixes are different from the ones in the soundtrack CD but they're good also. OK, they're not actors, but, Who cares?, they look good playing to be themselves, A must for every Beatles fan!!!PS.- Now my kids (actually two of them, the third is too young at 11 months old) are enjoying this picture after years of its original release!!!! Regards.
Rating: Summary: the sound is yikes! the acting is a nonsense! Review: hmmh...how bad this remastered version is. But this isn't a remastered version, what other people thought. The songs are sounding very slowed down and muddied. What a waste of time, money, and ultimately the version might ruin people's perception of the movie. Unfortunately I have bought the old VHS version,...which has the same quality like this one. The cover looks great, the sound is bad and the acting of the musicians in the movie is a nonsense, they were only running and jumping. Many people bought this film because it is the beatles that's all! PS: I agree with some people, who said some other rock bands are much better than Beatles like the Black Sabbath Dvd's, Led Zeppelin dvd's or Deep purple Dvd's are much better than this one.
Rating: Summary: bad sound quality Review: it should have no stars at all for this re-released dvd. It looks good but sounds terrible, moreover this re-released was recorded in mono only. The whole songs sounding very weak. I guess it was digitally remastered but in fact it wasn't! die hard fans must be happy with it!
Rating: Summary: dont buy this Review: for many die hard beatle fans, this dvd re-released was a big surprise but be careful,...the pic is pretty but the sound is awful! it is correct what many people said on their own reviews. once again the sound of this dvd is not stereo but mono! don't fool your self by buying this one! The ex musicians of the band like Mc cartney and Ringo starr still sale the Beatles recordings, and certainly they are still hoping and collecting more money from die hard fans. This DVD re-released was recorded in mono only,...it is a big shame for the film company because they are not producing more better quality for the fans. on the other hand the beatles were not good actors, the film has avery good music (for beatles fans only) and the acting is teriffic. PS: You can check out the other DVD'S from better rock bands like Led zeppelin film "THE SONGS REMAINS THE SAME" or DEEP PURPLE "LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA". The sound, casting, wide screen-picture are more beautiful and more accurate than ahrd days night. need I say more?
Rating: Summary: I Should Have Known Better Review: This DVD looks like it was produced in such a way that would not make Beatles fans sorry for what they'd already bought. Do you have "The Making of a Hard Day's Night"? Good thing, because that documentary has a lot more interesting stuff than you will find in the extras, here. Do you already have the laserdisc edition of the movie, released in 1987 by Criterion Collection? Good for you, again - that edition had all the songs in STEREO and included "The Running and Jumping and Standing Still Movie" as a bonus. The DVD format, with its menu features, has created a new standard for supplementary material. Instead of one carefully edited documentary that flows smoothly from start to finish, you get several interviews that you can watch in any order. Some of them are quite interesting, in fact. OF COURSE this is a mandatory item for any Beatles collector. Come to think of it, perhaps they did the right thing by not overlapping with previously released stuff. I just hope "The Making of A Hard Day's Night" is still in print, for the sake of those who hadn't bought it. As for the laserdisc, sorry, it's a dead format, anyway.
Rating: Summary: Excellent I give it a thumbs up! Review: Buy it, you will love it. It's fun with great music
Rating: Summary: WHAT'S WITH THE SOUND ??? Review: With such a deluxe package, why only 5.1 audio track ? This movie was originally in mono. I would welcome that! When I called Miramax, they said it was in 2.0 only. Well, my dvd player reads it in 5.1 only. I dont own surround sound (and dont want it) and I sure didn't think with such a deluxe package, that I had to worry about an audio track. It sounds processed when I play it. Thanks Miramax !!!
Rating: Summary: A Sonic Outrage Review: I wish I had read some of the reviews here before ordering this DVD. Many of the reviewers have spoken of the terrible sound, and they are correct. I guess this is what one must expect when people in love with technology approach a work of art. The supposedly enhanced sound ruins the movie. I have watched only a few minutes of this DVD, and I will never watch it again, even though A Hard Day's Night is one of my favorite movies. I should probably study this fiasco a little more before writing this review to verify what I'm going to say, but I'm so disgusted that I can't wait. Although I have read 30 or 40 of the reviews here, I haven't seen a couple of particular complaints mentioned. My apologies if someone has already written about them. In the performance of "If I Fell," I believe the released recording has replaced the "live" version the Beatles recorded for the movie. To synchronize the video with the sound, Miramax has slowed down the latter! The music is about a half-step off. Later, during the big TV performance toward the end of the movie, the producers have removed the ambient sound, so one gets no sense of the audience's wild excitement. Because I couldn't watch any more than this, I'm probably missing many other transgressions. I can't imagine what Miramax was thinking when they released this. I will never again let my eagerness to own a DVD permit me to order it before reading reviews, but how could I have anticipated a disgrace of this caliber? I'm thankful I have the VHS copy I recorded off cable many years ago.
Rating: Summary: A Very Fun Movie, BUT could of been done better!!!!! Review: This DVD set of A Hard Days Night looks and sounds great, BUT they crop the print to give it a movie feel, and that is NOT necessary. The Bonus materiel (Interview with the filmmakers; with the Beatles cast; The Production Crew; Post Production Crew, etc.), is also OK, personally I am not into DVD bonus materiel unless its live footage of the band or unreleased songs, but most of the people I know who are into that stuff say on this set its not as good as it could have been. The Set also includes DVD Rom features (screenplay viewer, access to special web site, etc.), And least we forget a Hard Day's Night is a very fun movie. I think most Beatles fan's will like this set, BUT maybe wait and see if they do it better.
Rating: Summary: Some of you reviewers have some major issues. Review: I am a 16 year old beatle fan. A lot of adults are under this impression that because i did not grow up in the 60's i don't know anything about this amazing group. stupid.serious junk. i have every beatle cd, all their record LP's (yes i have a record player...no not my parents, mine!) i have read the beatles anthology 3 times, the beatles recording sessions twice, the beatles gear once, Shout! once...do you get the point? i love this band a lot, and anyone that can stick their face in this site and make derrogetory comments about 4 of the greatest, funny, innovative young men of our time should not be writing reviews because your comments are not welcome here. go in a beatles hater chat room or something, but stay away from here. amazon.com does not need your worthless comments taking up their precious space.
