Summary: I'm not allowed to see this film
Review: It's a shame that Kubrick obviously felt we British aren't responsible enough to see A Clockwork Orange. Out-dated censors I can understand , but a ground breaking film director? Not good.

Summary: totally awesom
Review: A C O is definitely one of the best movies ever made (in my opinion) along with The Godfather trilogy. The method that was used to "cure" Alex (The Ludavido) method, was discussed at length in my Behavior Modification class in college. By the way I'm sure all of you droogies out there know that David Prowse, who played Julian, Frank's body guard; later when on to play Darth Vader in the Star Wars series. I've seen A C O dozens of times, and I still watch as if it were my first time. As I said, totally awesom. If you didn't like it, then you totally missed the point.

Summary: It threw society on its head.
Review: I first saw the Clockwork Orange as a under-age teenager and was so impressed by it, that I immediately embarked on both a Kubrick and Burgess spree.

Kubrik seemed to perfectly capture Burgess' idea of a society heading for trouble. The world of Alex and his Droogs seems a precursor to the punk movement that took off some five years later and , in my opinion helped to define its attitude and fashion. In an unprecedented move, Kubrik hardly wavers from the original dialogue. In fact, the script is almost word for word what Burgess wrote. To my knowledge this had never been done before or since.

Summary: Really Makes You Think
Review: When I first watched the movie, I was in love with its black humour. I also noticed that every person I knew who watched this movie wore army jackets and thrift-shop clothing and liked performance art. I was in a film class and I talked about how I loved good, black-humoured movies. The film professor looked a little bit preturbed and I often wondered why. One day, I looked at the movie again and I realized that I had missed the point entirely. I felt sick to my stomach because I thought, "Well, I'm turning into my own Alex." Boy, does this movie make you think. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be off to watch some taped episodes of Oz.

Summary: Kubrick's defining moment
Review: I read the book, then I saw the movie. Sure, they follow different agendas, but the impact is one I'll never forget. Kubrick put together one of the most cohesive, shocking, violent, striking, unsettling, thought-provoking and ultimately, brilliant pieces of film making ever to be committed to celluloid. Rest in peace, Mr. Kubrick, you made the difference.

Summary: It was cool!!
Review: This movie was just probably the best movie I have ever seen! Malocolm Mcdowell was at his best in this movie. It was artful, and very confusing sometimes, but once figured out, it was an excellent story. Alex really learns his lesson once he is released, his past victims show him the same treatment that he oh so kindly gave to them.

Summary: a great movie and deserving classic in the sci-fi genre
Review: In A Clockwork Orange, Stanley Kubrick of 2001 fame brings to life a brilliant near-future dystopia and manages to shock any viewers with his twisted vision. The book is largely faithful to Anthony Burgess' novel and in fact plays off one of the most popular themes in sci-fi, the Frankenstein theme--though, uniquely, reversing that. Those who say it glorifies violence and rape clearly don't know what in Hell they're talking about. The sheer monstrousness of the anti-hero's actions is meant to serve as a backdrop for his frightful curative treatment. Rape is never, ever presented as something either desirable or acceptable. Rather, its monstrousness is such that the offender must be captured and prevented from ever doing so again. No one would say rape is acceptable, and neither Burgess nor Kubrick tries to convey this idea. It is all Kafkaesque melodrama. Orwell's 1984 is many times more monstrous (though much less violent)but is considered a classic. I just hope people will open their eyes one day to its message and not focus so much on misinterpreting its visual displays.
