Summary: Stunning. Provocative. Unforgettable.
Review: I saw this movie for the first time years ago and decided to watch it again last night. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. It really is an amazing film, from the acting (especially the fantastic Malcolm McDowell) to the delicious script (written by Kubrick) to the production design, etc. It also has a deep and very relevant message about society's tendencies toward violence and what -- if anything -- can be done about it. The sexual and violent scenes are not exploitative in the least. They are critical to the plot. What a profound movie! I think Kubrick is a hell of a talent...well, was.

Summary: its very original
Review: Only fools cannot understand this movie because it is art and a big sense of what will happen in the future when the world gets out of control

Summary: This film does not glorify violence
Review: It bothers me that so many people say this movie glorifys violence, rape or any of the other sickening aspects of the film. The film is sick. That is the point. It shows a very negative view of society. It is meant to show the horror of violence and rape. Another thing that is irritating is all the people who say that the only reason people like this film is because of kubrick. The fact is that this is one of the films that made him great. This film is very misunderstood. It sends a very powerful message to any who are willing to listen.

Summary: 5 stars to one of the greatest films of all time
Review: Stanley Kubrick's nightmarish look into the future shows of a world where juevenile delinquients run wild without discipline or trouble from the law. Each time I see the movie I see a more and more frightening glimpse of the world we live in today and how it's only getting worse....

Summary: Despite the obvious horror, a brilliant movie.
Review: I am not a fan of this movie and after seeing it once I doubt if I ever will again. However, my horror and revulsion does not detract, in my mind, from the true brilliance in this movie. It is true that this is a disturbing and horrific story and that Kubric does manipulate our revulsion to bring us into greater fear, but all of that makes sense and is consistent.

The images, the pauses, the silence, the pictures in this movie are all well orchestrated and suit their purpose. Kubrick makes you feel, he brings you into areas of yourself you are not comfortable with and he shows you a side of society you pray does not exist, but unfortunately does.

I did feel sympathy for Malcolm MacDowell's character at the end of the movie. The experiences he has in prison are horrible. This raises many interesting and unnerving questions about the nature of the prison system and how prisoners should be treated. You do not forget how evil this man is but you also are not blind to his human pain threshold and his torture. He remains a human being, even if he has chosen to behave by instincts which are unsuitable.

This movie is extremely disturbing, but never gratuitous. Kubrick does an excellent job of exposing the evil in the story and making it luccid, plain and cold while still maintaining a subtlety and ambiguity which provokes debate. This is probably his best work.

Summary: Finally available as a DVD!
Review: Picture quality is quite fine, no complaints. It looks and sounds far better than any previous video incarnationa and the advent of over 30 chapter stops makes it a must. By the way, I don't know why so many folks are complaining about the lack of extras on the Kubrick discs. Kubrick was something of a purist and wanted the work to speak for itself. Rest in peace, Stanley!

Summary: Sick! Sick! Sick!
Review: I don't know what you people see in this movie, but it just made me ill! I cannot simpathise this "ultraviolent" man who has been fixed so that he cannot defend himself against the revenge he most certainly deserves! With terrible production design with naked woman/dining tables and that psychadelic apartment. Hardly any of this movie actually looks like the future. Though some may argue that that is not important to the story, I dissagree. At least 2001 looked like the future. And I just don't see the need for all of that nudity and that penis-shaped sculpture. Kubrick is no genius...he's sick!
