Summary: KUBRICK "COLLECTION" SUCKS
Review: Am I the only one who has a problem with the completely shoddy treatment Mr. Kubrick's films have received in the transfer to DVD ??? I'm sorry, but CLOCKWORK is NOT presented in it's original screen format(as listed on the disc case) - I saw it recently on ENCORE in TRUE widescreen format (2.35:1). Strike 1 !!! THE SHINING and FULL METAL JACKET in standard format ??? Strike 2 !!! Two more are in the 1.66:1 format on disc (NOT "widescreen" by any stretch) : BARRY LYNDON and DR. STRANGELOVE. Strike 3 !!! I've recently discovered the genius of Kubrick, but these transfers to DVD are simply inexcusable ...

Summary: Stop, masterpiece!!!
Review: A clockwork orange is the masterpiece of the modern art: is strange, perfect and very exciting. And it is also the masterpiece of Stanley Kubrick, the biggest filmaker of the century. But Kubrick was not only a filmaker, he was also a visionary, he touched every way of the human's conception. Masterpiece. Alex is bad, i know, but his violence is natural, on contrary of his non-violence, that is mechanical, like the orange, the symbol of cokney's mind. I don't understand who wrote that A clockwork orange is not a masterpiece and it is sick, like Kubrick: is pure madness!!! Stop people, i hope that A clockwork orange is been considered a masterpiece by the all people of the universe.

Summary: The most overrated movie ever made
Review: Hideous, obnoxious, pretentious. Unforgivable defamation of Beethoven. Ugly looking sets, costumes, and people. Overwrought satire. Horrible, horrible movie, possibly the worst I ever saw.

Summary: Ingenious, brilliant, wonderful!
Review: I have watched this movie several times and will watch itseveral more. I can not say enough good things about it-- theinterpretation from Burgess' book is fantastic, the acting is super, and the soundtrack is chillingly beautiful. It is truly a work of art that evokes such strong emotions in me, that I can not compare it to any other film I've ever seen. Stanley Kubrick is a genius, and this is his most amazing work.

Summary: A Classic about the definition of Morality
Review: In a time where there seem to be only two themes in the filmic art form, namely "Be Yourself" and "It'll Be Okay As Long As We're Together," watching "A Clockwork Orange" acts as a breath of fresh air. The fact that the air tastes rancid is a testament to the quality of what is perhaps Stanley Kubrick's greatest film. In a slightly retro near-future, a violent, sexual criminal played by Malcom McDowell (in a career defining performance) is subjected to a rehabilitation treatment which causes him great physical pain whenever he feels tempted to act in an anti-social manner. While this does keep him from committing any more crimes, it also makes him physically ill whenever he hears the music of Ludwig Von Beethoven, obviously symbolizing the potential failings of censorship. And while he cannot act on his desires, he still wants to, which forces the audience to question if morality isn't defined by one's actions, but by one's nature. All in all, one of the most mature films in history, both visually and thematically. It is not, however, a "fun" film. (One critic once stated that to rent it for a casual Saturday viewing would kill your whole weekend.) And is almost completely unsuitable for all but the most mature, OLDER children. It should be considered required viewing for everyone else.

Summary: about a clockwork orange
Review: A clockwork orange is a very disturbing yet amusing movie this movie will really make you think on what is happening to this world. From the begining to the end this movie will take you into its own little world. At first glance you may look at the reviews and say why whould anyone make this movie let alone what to watch it. But a clockwork orange is in a class of its own. If your a mature viewer then I say you should watch it.

Summary: It is so bloody horrorshow
Review: Stanley Kubrick is one of the best directors of all times. He controls every single aspect of the film. If you watch his many movies he seems to have control over the emotions of the actors. That is what makes a great director. A director that goes no no no... we have to do it again. One that gets what he wants, not just some half a**ed acting from "actors."

The movie is awesome, it is one of the few movies that compare to the greatness of, and compliments nicely the book.

Watch it. Even if only for the glorious 9th.

Summary: Why not in England?
Review: I finally managed to get hold of a copy of this from Holland (?)(after all, in England, we're not progressive enough to be able to see it), and it has to be said that it is a standout even amongst all the other Kubrik films in my collection. Put simply, this film is horrific, but in the same way that 1984 or Brave New World is. The "near future" setting of it makes it all the worse.

A characteristically beautiful film, and one still able to shock for the pure pointlessness of Alex's crimes and the crimes afflicted on him after his internment.

Gotta be seen droogs!.

Summary: ?????????????
Review: I don't understand the greatness of this movie. It's hard tounderstand and seems to have no point whatsoever.Nothing reallybothers me about this film like rape, chessy clothes and sets, etc. The only thing that bothers me is that I can't seem to make it clear through because it is so boring. Maybe some good LSD would make it seem better.
