Summary: Ultra-violently Brilliant
Review: Many viewers don't understand the droog's language, which required a glossary in Burgess's classic and historic novel. Many don't pick-up on the social and political commentary hidden behind the ultra-violence by the Great Director. I loved the imagery, and wonderful use of classical music being spun on Little Alex's JA Mitchell turntable. Dehumanizing criminals by taking away their choice to be evil is the real message here. Is that the right of state? Malcolm McDowell does a terrific job in the main character's odyssey from evil to good to evil; from choice to no-choice to choice. Mixed up in a political battle that is equally as evil in its own way as the main character.

Summary: This movie isn't all it is brought up to be
Review: Well I can first say that when I rented this movie I kind of judged the movie by it's cover. Anyway the only good thing that I can say about this movie is the acting. Wonderful acting but also some very gangly parts like for example it isn't a very good scene when they beat up the BUM with there sticks and chains but I guess you could say that this movie is well acted out but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece. But if you like weird movies then go ahead but I honestly to tell you the truth spend your money on a GOOD movie. Not to offend anyone's taste in a movie

Summary: An amazing bit of the old ultra-violence
Review: This is an incredible movie. A great satire of youth, crime, and the prison system. This movie is definetly not for the faint of heart, brutal beatings and scenes of rape make this movie difficult to watch for many. However, the brilliance of the Burgess novel is not lost with the transfer to film. The darkness and bleakness remains very strong. The violence of the movie is also very strong, but it isn't the primary focus of the movie.

Summary: an amazing commentary on violence in society
Review: When I first saw this film, I hated it. I thought it was a mere celebration of violence and crudity, even more shockingly so than your average blow-em-up Hollywood action movie. Then I watched it again, and I was amazed at how different it feels on the second viewing. Kubrick realized that if he presented the story in a softened approach, toning down the violence and emphasizing the law as the hero in the film, it would ruin everything. He had to pull out all the stops and show all the brutality and mayhem of Burgess' original novel, and risk offending and shocking people, which certainly he did, in order to present the full message which he intended. I'll say this: this is not a film for stupid people. The message is subtle, and a person of low intelligence or who sees only part of what is shown will definitely interpret this as a celebration of violence, as is evidenced by the violent acts which took place in Britain after the film's debut (and resulted in the ban of the film in the UK). It is an intellectual film, only an intellectual film which approaches its subject in a very explicit way to fully get its point across. I think Kubrick created some sort of masterpiece here, certainly a message for our times about violence and its effects. And to those who scream about this film's immorality and so forth: the reason that you find the images in this movie so hard-hitting is not in the images themselves (certainly you'll find much of the same content in a film such as Terminator or Total Recall, but those films are not nearly as infamous as this) but in the WAY the images are presented. They are not just placed on the screen nonchalantly, but they are used to create an emotional response, usually shock and disgust (ironically, just as the images of violence accompanied with the Beethoven music was used to put Alex into submission). This may not be standard cinematic fare, but that doesn't mean it isn't worthy of praise.

Summary: Artful But As Fun As Going Nuts In A Padded Room
Review: I see the artistic value of this film, but I found the depiction of violence and rape as an art form truly revolting. There are good issues here, though. Can criminals ever be reformed? Personally, I think they shouldn't have reversed Alex's treatment. He deserves not to enjoy sex or violence anymore. I like the "Indy 500" sex scene, too. The William Tell Overture will never seem the same again.

Summary: Pick your poison: Confusing or disappointing
Review: If you haven't read the book it can be confusing. If you have, it seems more of a disappointment than anything. It's not atrocious and can be quite enjoyable until you start realizing how much it deviates from the novel. As long as you don't think about that, you'll probably love it if you love weird movies. The acting was superb and the art design dazzling.

Summary: Future shock film offends many viewers
Review: This is an amazing movie that I believe most people will never fully appreciate. The cinematography is outstanding, the acting is superb, and the adaptation from the novel is breathtaking. I am a die-hard Kubrick fan who is overjoyed with this film. It's a shame he had to quit with Eyes Wide Shut.

Summary: Kubrick does not do Burgess' masterpiece justice
Review: The book was incredible. Fresh and stirring. Also, wonderfully disturbing. The movie, however, never made it past "disturbing." The performances and direction fell extremely short of what could have been done with Burgess' amazing novel. Perhaps my mistake was in reading the book before watching the flick. Either way, it's obvious that Kubrick was attempting to inject the same level of art and originality into the filmmaking as Burgess did into the book, but, sadly, it was a dismal failure, in which the integrity of the book was lost. Kubrick was a very talented director, but he unfortunately missed the boat with "A Clockwork Orange."

Review: This movie is a classic. I admin this movie is not just for everyone. That makes it even more valuable to me. If you don't understand it then at least try not to show it and better don't watch it.

Review: I loved this soooo much. I saw it about a month ago and I still like to talk about it. It's one of those movies that leave a lasting imprint in your mind, in other words, you'll have a hard time forgetting this spectacular movie, but who would want to forget it anyway?
