Review: 36 crazy fists was in one word, crazy.Jackie Chan was brillant in the movie.I remember when I saw this movie in my native land of Madagascar in 1986, when the movie first opened.Kudos to Amazon dot com for marketing this masterpiece of chinese kung fu.The movie is about a young man (Jackie Chan), who goes to a kung fu school to tough the mean streets of the mountains.But when all he learns how to do is tidious chores he seeks refuge in a forest.There he meets an old drunken man who teaches him much more than any other monk could.This inspired me so much that for a second I thought my bastard dad could actually amount to something.Anyways Chan goes out to revenge the death of his father and kills a yeti.

Review: Although he doesn't appear in the film, Chan did some fight and action choreography on this Taiwanese production. Unbeknowst to Jackie, the producers shot behind-the-scenes footage of Chan as he was working, which ended up being included in some of the released prints. Going on step further, a distributor cobbled together a "The Making of..." documentary using bootleg footage of Jackie. Knowing how mindful Chan is of being a role model for childern, he must have just loved seeing himself smoking a cigarette for the duration of his time on screen. Summary: Hilarious on accident
Review: First of all to fully enjoy this movie you must have the english dubbed version. The voice overs where some of the most hilarious I have ever heard in any of Jackie's movies. The fighting is not fast, but it is still pretty good. Also the fact that the main character defeats his opponents not with skill but with the help of friends and the use of "dirty tricks." If you are used to these hong kong films, then you can throughly enjoy this movie.

Summary: I NEED TO EXPLAIN!!!
Review: I need to explain to everybody who sees this video that Jackie is not in it. That should not make you not want it. He was the martial arts director, therefore the martial arts are superb. Here's what you need to know: #1. Americans hate old martial arts films because they're cheesy, corny and supposedly stupid. This is because Americans do not understant Chinese films and culture. #2. Many of Jackie's older films are released under numerous video titles, but this one has only been released under the 36 Crazy Fists, I think. #3. The Chinese film buisness is exploitation. Actors do not get paid well, they live terribly, contracts are unfair, etc.; The reason good actors like Jackie show up in not-very-respectable films (some of his older ones), is because his contract forced him to. I hope this helps you better understand Chinese films,and Jackie, and I especially hope you now take Martial Arts films for what they are.

Summary: Good Solid Movie
Review: Is Jackie Chan in this movie ? No. But, the movie is still very solid. To me it was a very average or slightly above average kung fu movie. It revolves around a young man whose father was killed, and while being beaten up by gangsters responsible for his fathers death he gets saved by two Shaolin monks. The monks take him to learn kung fu from the abbott,but the abbott sends him away and tells him he is too scrawny and weak to learn. The monks who befriended him then take him to a Shaolin gym and con the teacher into taking him on. The teacher just has him do chores though,and won't teach him. So the young man ends up learning some kung fu from a drunkard and the drunkards pupil. The young man goes back and challenges the teacher for permission to leave,but loses against the teacher. He escapes anyway and goes and beats up several of the gangsters. He then faces the local boss of the gangsters who bests him. He goes back and learns kung fu from his shaolin friends and then defeats the local gangster boss. However, he then gets challenged by the brother of the local gangster boss. He loses and has to go back and learn a few tricks from the teacher of the Shaolin Kung Fu gym. He again defeats his opponent, and gets challenged once again by the master of the two brothers he defeated. So, he goes into training with the teacher of the Shaolin Gym and with the Drunkard and the Drunkards pupil and uses what he knows to fight the evil master. The movie in my opinion holds up on its own and most of the movie is very humorous.

print is poor and the dubbing awful.the DVD however contains good add on features like a trivia game and a DVD dictionary giving details on dvd features, etc.
good buy only for the dictionary.

Review: Now 36 CRAZY FISTS is not a bad movie, but marketing it as a Jackie Chan film...he choreographed some of it and yes appears in some footage that was sneakily shot then added to the film of him choregraphing in front of the red background while smoking a cigarette....but he is not in it...man these guys will do anything to make a quick buck
