Summary: Liberated Bond grrl? DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT!
Review: Hi, I'm just here to say that all you feminists out there should not believe the propaganda that was rammed down everyone's throat way back in 1997. Presumably, the makers of Bond discovered that (gasp!) women have money and buy movie tickets. Armed with this revelation, they set about trying to erase memories of the exploitation of women, the female mud wrestling and the many occasions Bond has slapped his girlfriend.

Aha! A plan! We'll make a LIBERATED BOND GRRL! Yes, that was the answer and thus they set about trying to create an intelligent Bond girl who also looks hot in leather.

They came up with a Chinese agent. Which is fine. Except she is a carbon copy of Agent triple X in The Spy Who Loved Me. They even stole a scene right out of it! Remember the scene where Triple X tells Bond that she stole the plans to his Lotus a few months before. Ring any bells?

My main complaint about this so-called liberated Bond grrl is that she's not, well, liberated. She ties with several other Bond women for the most captured status and holds the record for Recaptured within the Shortest Amount of Time. (at the conclusion, she is recaptured less than 20 minutes after she is rescued.)

Even the dumbest Bond Girl (Stacy in A View to a Kill) doesn't have a record like that.

Bottom line (finally?): Melina in For Your Eyes Only is the most liberated Bond girl ever. She is smart, only gets captured once and weilds one mean crossbow.

"Tommorow" is a bomb and if it hadn't been a Bond film, absolutely no one would have watched it. All of the actors and actresses deserved better.

Summary: In the middle of the pack of the Bond canon...
Review: Tomorrow Never Dies only improves on GoldenEye in the John Woo-meets-Bond choreography of the action scenes. Whoever says Brosnan lacks personality mistakes subtlety (Fleming's Bond had this in bunches) for blandness. The plot is muddled, convoluted, and far-fetched at best, but then again, some of the best Bonds also suffer from this (Dr. No, You Only Live Twice, Spy Who Loved Me, and The Living Daylights come to mind...) The dialogue is as witty as ever, Moneypenny's description of Bond as a "cunning linguist foremost amongst all the double entendre. Jonathan Pryce is somewhat wasted, as is his henchman, whose name I don't remember, but who should be known as "Red Grant, Part 10". The girls sizzle, though Teri Hatcher's torch for Bond seems pathetic, given his poligamist tendencies... The intros are still spectacular, computer technology carrying over from Maurice Pinder's artistry... Very good, but third banana in Brosnan's opus to GoldenEye and The World is Not Enough, which have better plots, more memorable characters, and better flow and editing (though Tomorrow is actually shorter!) Cubby Broccoli should sleep tight up there in Movie Heaven... Bond is alive and well into the 21st Century, with nary a wrinkle...!

Summary: This makes Moonraker look like a classic
Review: Save your money. Tomorrow Never Dies ranks up their with A View To A Kill. First, someone please get Brosnan out of this role. He looks the part, but he has no personality. Bring Connery out of retirement and give Bond a pulse again. Plot goes as follows, Media Mogul Jonathan Pryce ( wasting his time ) wants to start a war in the William Randolph Hearst tradition. blah, blah, blah. Even Moonraker's plot was better than this travesty. Stamper, the evil henchman, is about as effective as Mayday. It was such a surprise when the number 2 Bond girl died, actually, no, no it wasn't. If you are going to copy the formulas of the good Bond films, at least copy a good one like From Russia With Love. Honestly, nobody can call Live and Let Die stupid until you see this entry in the series.

Summary: Best flowing plot!
Review: This has to be the best Bond ever, certainly the best performance by Brosnan in comparison to Goldeneye, which, though not bad, could have been better (especially the title track) and World is Not Enough, whose plot was complicated and didn't flow as smoothly as did TMD. The diabolical plot of Elliott Carver is outlandish, which is what makes the movie so unique. I cannot imagine how so many people actually dared compare this movie's plot to that of Peacemaker (George Clooney), which was TERRIBLE and should not even be mentioned in the same paragraph as Bond. Another unique quality of this film is that the female sidekick (Michelle Yeoh) can actually hold her own instead of being babysitted around and helpless against the surrounding perils, which too often is the case in Bond flicks. The music was excellent, especially the title tracks TMD & Surrender; Dave Arnold did a great job integrating the score with Monty's original James Bond theme. For those who are thinking about not seeing this film because you've read the reviews of people claiming it was a flop, think again, go watch it for yourself and see how wrong those individuals were. GREAT movie.

Summary: Real 007 is back!
Review: This is one Bond movie I missed and had to catch up. And I am glad I did. Lots of shoot'm up and pact with stunts like the good old days, only better now with digital effects. Here is the James Bond both serious and entertaining and a perfect professional. Some of the scenery is just breath takingly beautiful.

Summary: Nobody Does it Better
Review: This movie brings back the old style of Bond. The sophistication that Brosnan brings makes me want to watch all of Connery's Bond movies again! The Bond movies continue to thrill all age audiences and this can only be because they keep the plot current and characters in keeping with the times. A Masterpiece

Summary: Get the DVD version for full effect
Review: The best thing about this movie was Michelle Yeoh's character. Not only was she a babe (an obvious requirement for a Bond girl,) she was also capable of holding her own. Unlike Natalya in "GoldenEye," Wai Lin could do damage alone and didn't have to be shepherded around by Bond. There was also more of an edge to Bond in this edition (the scene where he kills Dr. Kaufmann is the prime example,) harkening back to the Bond of the Ian Fleming novels. The theme song by Sheryl Crow was very good also. A note to anyone working at MGM/UA who may happen to see this review: Bring back Wai Lin in a future Bond movie! She is the most capable "sidekick" since Felix Leiter, and much better looking;-)

Summary: THIS MOVIE IS THE BOMB BABY!
Review: once again bond is teamed up with a woman. this woman imparticular is a chinese woman who literally kicks butt! she has the most awesome gadgets like ones you've never seen before. james bond is trying to get a bomb back from a criminal.

Summary: Probably his best
Review: I like this one, even though Goldeneye was my favorite, Pierce just started his role as James in that one. This one is what we expect from bond. The only reason I didnt like it was it was so high tech. The music had this tint in it that sounded like computerish, Boris and Natalya spend most of their time, typing on a computer. Well, back to Tommorow Never Dies. This one was dark. Most of the action is at night, the Devonshire sinking, The final battle. Notice I said that this is his best performance, not his best movie. So, all formulas were used to tell this Bond film. Opening action teaser, Girl enters plot, or Villain is introduced. Bond spies, he escapes barely. He gets help from someone, Jack Wade. Gets captured, escapes, raids villains secret lair, than the girl and Bond smooch.

Summary: Even my cat would have more presence playing Bond...
Review: Pierce Brosnan returns for a second stint as James Bond and while his performance is clearly superior to the one he gave in Goldeneye, he still has a long way to go before he can be taken seriously as this character. The problem is, in a word, presence. Brosnan has hardly any screen presence and this makes for a highly forgettable and boring Bond. As I stated in my review of Goldeneye, Brosnan needs to lighten up a touch and not play the role as seriously. Perhaps even a little Remington would help. While TMD has loads of action and intrigue, the film is rather boring as a result of Brosnan's lackadaisical performance. Where are you Rog? We need you...
