Review: The Replacement Killers is a hot action flick with two stars that have automatic chemistry from their first frame together. A must see for Chow Yun-Fat fans and all action fans and an impressive action role for Mira Sorvino. The story is paced well and the action style is new exciting.

Review: This movie is everything I would expect from a Chow Yun Fat movie. It had an okay plot but delivered an awesome amount of cool fight scenes. Mira Sorvino did a good job I thought at playing Chow's unexpected ally. This is definitely a must-have for any action fan.

Summary: ...not just tight, but REAL tight...
Review: no great dialogue... no truly compelling bad guys... no fareal sense of a budding romance (chow and mira come off more as a modern day batman and robin, than romeo and juliette)... but this is jus a great all-around movie in the same way that 'new jack city' or 'the outlaw josey wales' was good... you watch it and you get addicted... doesnt always have to be a reason... it jus happens and this one has me hooked!
what it absolutely has goin for it is how it incorporates two of my favorite plot elements: one, being a sense of a higher law/or some sort of affirmation of righteousness ...and two, the hero is jus the stylish [guy] we all wish we could be!

Summary: would you like some blood with that?
Review: This movie is a bloodbath, in no uncertain terms. Wrapped around the tried-and-true plot of a reluctant assassin, the few human moments in this film are vastly outweighted by the sheer amount of senseless violence. This isn't patriotic, emotional violence a la Saving Private Ryan, or even the flashy, choreographed violence of The Matrix - this is pure, simple maximum-body-count shooting for its own sake. In fact, when you get right down to it, it feels like the characters think they can only be bad enough by waxing their quota of innocent bystanders, leaving it hard for you to feel very sorry for just about anyone in this film. If you feel like turning your mind off and enjoying a lot of Woo-style muzzle-flash pirouettes, this is a great movie (and don't get me wrong, I've watched it a few times for that very reason) - but if you're looking for a John Woo-style film that actually has something decent to it, stick with the genuine article.

Summary: Plot? What Plot?
Review: So they had Chow Yun-Fat and Mira Sorvino, what more could you ask for right? Plot? Huh???? You want plot??? LOL, you came to the wrong movie for plot. The predictability factor is pretty high on this one, sorry. Shooting, more shooting, and add some shooting. Now why did I recommend this movie you ask? Because it's fun! Who cares if it has no plot? If you don't mind a little mindless violence and some cheap plot devices, then why not watch it?? It has Chow Yun-Fat and we all know he's pretty good with the action, and Mira brings a great character to the mix, she's saucy and of course sexy and probably the only one in the cast that will give you any acting entertainment, but it's good enough to make it worth seeing... Though I gotta warn you, they're supposed to be assasins and couldn't hit a tin can if it was strapped to their guns, but that's how it works in these movies isn't it? So take the night off, get a good laugh and some action and watch the movie. Because...well, there's nothing else on. :)

Review: The Replacement Killers teams an unlikely pair, Hong Kong action legend Chow Yun-Fat, and Oscar winner Mira Sorvino, in an action filled adventure, featuring multiple gunfights, heavy property damage, and minimal dialog. The two work surprisingly very well together. Sorvino, who continues to choose some interesting roles since winning her award, gives a credible performance as Meg Coburn. After "Mimic", we knew she was no powder puff, now we know she can be a gunslinger, and look darn good doing so.In his American movie debut, Yun-Fat is John Lee, taciturn, and restrained, exploding into action when necessary. He is a hit man who fails to complete his assignment. His Chinese employer, Terence Wei, is understandably upset, and orders that he be terminated. Seeking to return to China to protect his family from Wei's wrath, Lee is in need of a passport, and Meg is an expert at creating the false documents he needs. Once they get together, it's not long before the bullets start to fly. And the action almost never stops, with Mira right in the middle, more than holding her own with the heavy hitters. She's street tough, and never panics. Sure, the plot has a few glitches. But who cares? We're here for the well-crafted action sequences, and that's what is served up in Antione Fuqua's directorial debut. Fuqua highlights Yun-Fat's smooth and graceful moves, as he spins, twists, dives, and of course, shoots his way across the screen. The final battle is a bit cliché, but not as over done as it could have been. The Replacement Killers could have had a more appropriate title, but no matter what the name, if you're seeking a short, tight, action-packed shoot em up, look no further.

Review: Chow Yun-Fat's Hollywood debut is an unpretentious, pared-down thriller that grabs you by the throat and won't let go until burn-out. True, "The Replacement Killers" lacks the overgrown plot threads that strangle so many modern actioners, but it's a better movie for it. Chow Yun-Fat is awesome as the reluctant assassin-cum-avenger, and Mira Sorvino...well, what can I say? She's hot. Blessed with a killer soundtrack, a solid supporting cast and some of the best choreographed gunplay out there, "The Replacement Killers" is pure action-magic.

Summary: RUN AND GUN
Review: That's basically all that happens in this movie. Chow and Sorvino get spotted, shot at, run, find safety in a temple or something and then repeat the cycle several times. Storyline? Something about wanting to protect his family or whatever. Seriously folks, if you like action this much, why don't you play a video game instead? If I'm going to be watching guns blazing for two hours, I'd like to at least interact!

Review: As I recall, through the many shootings, Chow Yun-Fat's character was supposed to kill the cop's KID. That was an important part of the movie that the critic seemed to have missed. Did he even watch the whole movie? I loved it, and I believe that the most bored person will find it riveting. Don't trust the views of people who don't watch the movie.
