Summary: Where is the remastered picture ?
Review: This film is very good, one of the best produced by tsui hark, with a good martial art director and two of the most enjoyable actresses in Hong kong. So why two stars out of five. The editor say it's a remastered picture!!!!!!!! When you watch the DVD you know it's not true and that's the big problem. I was waiting for this film to be released in DVD to have a great quality of image and I d'ont have it. I'm very dispointed. So o out of 5 stars for tai seng.

Summary: Enjoyable Film; Poor Ending Swordfight
Review: This film was very good at the beginning as the characters are introduced. The evil eunuches are shown. The training regimen is fierce and I had anticipated a solid action adventure. After the rebels are attacked the action moves to Dragon Inn. The pace is slower here, but there is a lot of tension and intrigue. I felt the ending was disappointing. The final battle which is a swordfight has some questionable direction. One of the character's arm and leg gets skinned inexplicably. There is a swordfight and all of the sudden the arm is missing. I didn't get that aspect of the film. Overall, it's a good film. But, I didn't like the last battle.

Summary: A Masterpiece
Review: this is a very good or should i say execellent Film. Follow the story line, don't miss the action and watch out for the Dragon Inn's butcher. like the other reviewer said, the last 20 or 30 minutes is a must see. Don't miss it.

Summary: Exellent Swords Play
Review: This is one of the best Kung Fu movies I have ever seen. The fight scenes were amazing and memorable. If your a Donnie Yen fan you will have to wait till the end. But when Donnie Breaks out. He breaks Out. But there is plenty of Brigitte Lin and Maggie Chung. I am so in love with Brigitte Lin. I wish she would come out of retirement. It is truly a joy to see her work.

Summary: A very good epic
Review: This is quite an exciting movie. The psychological warfare at the Dragon Gate Inn is very well done, with each party trying to fake the other one out. Some very good fights. The movie is produced by Tsui Hark and fights are choreographed by Ching Siu Tung, so that ensures quality. A wonderful performance by Bridgette Lin ("Chungking Express," "Peking Opera Blues"). Maggie Cheung ("Chinese Box," "Irma Vep") is also good. Goregeous cinematography!

Summary: The only inn where human flesh is served.
Review: This is the best kung fu movie that "I've" ever seen! The action reminds me of crouching tiger.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: poor, poor, under the over the top par movie (understand?)
Review: This is the worst movie I ever purchased - EVER!! the fights consist of mindless rambling and funny-looking evil ballerinas being buired to their heads in a sandstorm only to charge 20 yards through the sand (still head-deap) and impale androgenous women while barbarians peel the skin off of their limbs with 3 foot wide swords. what a dissapointment. and don't get me wrong I luv totally over the top HK swordfights, but go watch something worthwhile like Storm Riders or the Duel, and 4 all u HK newbies: CT, HD. Or even A Man Called Hero (which is relatively boring)is better & contains 2 outta this world swordfights.

Summary: All-star cast at thier best
Review: This movie is my favorite kung-fu/swords movie that I own (an i do have many) Brigitte Lin is incredible in this film. She is the best HK actress of all time. This film showcases her beauty, acting, and swordsplay. She holds this movie high but not alone Tony Leung is wonderful as well as a cool, calm, and collected swordsman. Brigitte lin an Tony leung have a somewhat similar romance to Michelle Yeoh an Chow yun-fat in crouching tiger. The romance in this film though has more heart to it. Maggie Cheung is also very good in this film, as the Dragon Inn owner. Maggie, Brigitte, and Tony all play characters with a lot of depth. Donnie Yen is an OK bad guy but his talents as an actor or as a martial artist are not completely used. This film should be in every movie lovers collection it is simply a masterpiece on film.

Summary: Great swordplay film
Review: What is it about flying chicks with swords that I love so much? Bridgette Lin is so amazing in this film and there are many wicked fight sequences choreographed by the revered Ching Siu Tung. Tsui Hark produces and we've got Maggie Cheung and Donnie Yen in addition to the ever beautiful Lin to round out an incredible cast that really shines. The story was very well done and never confusing like in many HK films but it could've used a few more combat scenes which is why I gave it a 4 instead of 5. Overall, a great acheivement that stands out as one of the best wire-fu movies ever.

Summary: Excellent, Brigitte Lin the star
Review: When I first read the reviews online, I couldn't wait for the last fighting scene. But the last fighting scene was no where near as good as Brigitte Lin's fighting scene at or near the beginning.

She was fantastic, and made the movie a must see. This movie has a great story, solid ending, and lovable charcters. (Like the little guy who was the cook). Where do you learn to cook human meat? Especially in the middle of the desert.

I can't give it 5 stars, because its not as good as Musa in my opinion. Its as good as Once Upon a Time in China, maybe a little better.

But again, a must see movie, Brigitte Lin takes the show from the All Star cast. This is a movie I recommend buying (I did), as it makes a great movie in anyones collection.
