Rating: Summary: It's okay... Review: ...good action, and that's about it. A little too campy for my tastes, but you know, tastes vary. The story about the corrupt eunuchs in power and those fighting against them isn't exactly enthralling, and while the characters are reasonably charming there isn't much of any empathy to be felt when the semi-tragic conclusion comes to fruition. The swordplay is solid, however. The straight forward fight scenes are the best, such as the climactic fight in the desert. Soon as it gets over the top with wire acrobatics, however, it just doesn't quite measure up as well as it could. Too many cuts, not seamless, it's a bit distracting. The old school sword clashing choreography was working far better as it was actually impressive and entertaining. Overall, this is a film with pretty good action (though honestly, there probably wasn't even enough of that), campy dialogue and that's about it.
Rating: Summary: WHEN EUNUCHS ATTACK Review: A powerful and evil eunuch played by Donnie Yen sends his minions in pursuit of Bridgette Lin and Tony Leung, who flee in the desert and get stranded at Dragon Inn along with minions of Yen who don't know (but are suspicious) of Lin and Luengs identity. Had a slow patch in the middle, but several very good fight scenes, especially the one at the end where one of the villians is litterally put through the grinder. David Chute said you might find yourself nodding out over the endless swordplay, but why else does anyone rent/buy a martial arts movie? Complaining about too much fighting in a martial arts movie is like complaining about getting rice with Chinese food.
Rating: Summary: Slap on the cheese Review: Although picture quality is not the greatest in it's cinematic view, the breathtaking sequences in which the director plays on mood and tone towards the main characters were rousing and intriguing. I found the movie to be very very good..
Rating: Summary: GREAT SWORD PLAY Review: Before I purchased this film it looked o.k I was wrong. This is one of my favourite if not my favourite Hong Kong Action films. It has great sword fights beautifully produced. It even has a kung fu fight. The ending is great where Donnie Yen the bad guy fights Tony Leung and others in a bloody climax. Fantastic music joined with swords ripped through people. This is a must buy for people who like Blade, Chan films and Braveheart.
Rating: Summary: two words: awe... some Review: brigitte is great. maggie is charming and funny as ever. the really weird thing is, the final sword fight in the desert, that cool, tracking shot down the dune, TOTALLY reminds me of qui-gon & darth maul fighting on tatooine. hmmm. RECOMMENDED. highly. otherwise, look for a lot of fighting/spying/misunderstanding/espionage-type shenanigans. really really good, and the NEW IMPROVED dvd format is much appreciated. the running commentary is really good. ALTHOUGH they still don't include cool printed booklets with the dvd packaging. which bums me out. totally.
Rating: Summary: A fun romp in the desert... Review: Brigitte Lin is beautiful and deadly as ever in this fun sword film. Donnie Yen plays the bad guy, a refreshing change from his usual roles. Awesome swordplay and a great (if brief) love story. This one's a nice addition to your martial arts film collection. Besides, it has Brigitte--isn't that enough? :P
Rating: Summary: The Infamous "Dragon Inn" Review: Brigitte Lin is in her usual spectacular role as a kung fu master along with Tony Leung Ka-Fai ("Island Of Fire"). Lin is truly a great actress with "Police Story", "The Bride With White Hair", "The Bride With White Hair 2", and "Swordsman 2" to name a few impressive titles. She really is quite a martial artist on screen. She's very graceful and has a strong presence as a leading role. The amazing Donnie Yen ("Iron Monkey") is also in this film, though he's only at the beginning and end of the movie, he made his scenes effective. The last fight scene with Yen agains Lin, Leung, and Maggie Cheung ("Supercop") in the desert is quite outstanding. So venture into the desert and rest your head in the dragon inn, but beware...you might not last the night.

Rating: Summary: Yeah! Review: Dragon gate inn is another great sword fighting movie I highly recommend. The fighting scenes are very nice and the casts give a good performance. Get this and u would not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Great Action Sequences, Mediocre Movie Review: Dragon Inn is a mediocre movie. Besides the amazing flying sword fighting sequences (a la Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon), there really isn't much going for it. The plot isn't that good, the actors are 'okay', and the DVD is low quality. Dragon Inn starts out with a rebel leader getting slain by a powerful Eunuch (Donnie Yen), who sends the rebel's children deep into the desert. The children are then rescued by the rebel's friends (Bridget Lin, Tony Leung), and are brought to Dragon Inn. The eunuch sends men to search for the children, hoping to kill the remaining rebels with them. The rebels are then stranded with some of the eunuch's minions in Dragon Inn by a ferocious sandstorm. Much of the movie is comprised of amazing action sequences. These scenes are as good as those in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, with combatants constantly defying gravity. Some of these action sequences contain a lot of blood and gore. In one fight, a man's flesh is cut off, exposing his bones. While the violence doesn't look very realistic, the movie still would most likely have received an R rating in the US. The rest of the movie is 'okay' at best. The acting really isn't that great (it never is in HK films), the plot gets pretty weird (there are subplots involving cannibalism, etc.), and despite claims the cinematography is really that great. Sure, there are some great shots (mostly during action sequences), but most of it is average material. The DVD is pretty low quality. Most US VHS tapes are clearer than this. The picture is unclear, and is filled with numerous scratches. If you liked Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon because of it's beautiful cinematography, interesting plot developments, and excellent soundtrack look somewhere else. If all you care about is action, Dragon Inn is your movie.
