Summary: Anyone who likes cheesy movies MUST watch this.
Review: If it wasn't for this movie's over-the-top gore, it would be a perfect fit for Mystery Science Theater 3000. The truth is, this is a horrible movie, but it's just SO gory, and SO bad, that it is something that fans of bad movies just must watch. The violent scenes are more silly than anything else (you name it - there are eye gougings, disembowelments, decapitations, even a skin-rip). Extra points go to some of the brilliant lines in the movie, like "They gave me three bags of rice to kill you!" and "Your not blind but your still crippled!" This is must-see stuff.

Summary: Grand guignol, Hong Kong style!
Review: Try to imagine Bruce Lee in a prison drama directed by Peter Jackson. What that idea would produce is an over-the-top spectacle of bloody gore and good-natured all-around fun that no other martial arts film could top. Our hero, Riki (or Ricky in some versions) is sent to prison for killing the murderer of his lover. Subject to acts of cruelty by the prison system, he quickly rips, tears and disembowels his way to the top of the prison system in a barrage of force that has to be seen to be believed. The violence is SO overdone (a man actually rips out his own intestines to strangle Riki with) that humor cannot be avoided. A perfect vehicle for all fans of gratuitous violence, the film is strongly recommended.

Summary: hong kong cinema's finest
Review: If you like heads exploding and people getting strangled with intestines look no further. This movie takes action to another dimension. With an underlying theme of romance and what it's like doing hard time , this movie has something for everyone. The story blasts off when our hero Ricky takes his revenge on a two bit crime lord who murders his fiance and as a result lands himself in jail. But, this first act of vengence is only the begining as he systematicaly takes vengence on the ruthless crime lords jailed thugs who wish to kill him .This movie is Big trouble in little china meets Faces of death. It has to be seen to be believed.

Summary: So bad it's funny
Review: Story of Riki is a must see.
It is so bad it's funny. Especially the laughable dubbed version of the film.

The plot is pretty dull but still holds a grudge.
The film is very very Cheesy too.

The violence is over the top but very unrealistic but Still over the top such as the part were Riki pumbles through a guys stomach or of course the part were riki smashes through a guys hans. This film is very very violent and graphic but in a funny way.

The music was acctually pretty good! The story of Riki Rules! And I recomend this too some one who just wants to see some thing F-d up.

Over all this is a horrbily but funny movie even though it's not tended to be funny.

Get it...NOW!!!

Summary: Hard-hitting cult flick!
Review:
Set in the not-so-distant future, Prisons have became commercialized and franchised by the government. A young man named "Riki Ho" has been sent to a large maximum security prison for manslaughter, there are plenty of hellish things going on like the evil warden, the assistant warden and a deadly gang of foursome murdering and terrorizing the inmates including smuggling drugs. It's up to Riki to use his superman-esque superhuman strength to literally punch through the enemies and save the good prisoners.

This 1992 Science Fiction/horror/martial arts/fantasy from Hong Kong and Japan is a wild and outrageously gory-as-hell flick. It has build up a huge cult following and it's one of my top 130 favorite movies of all time since i first saw it on Video in 2000. There are definitely some amazing martial arts sequences, a hilarious English dubbed soundtrack, and tons of gore galore in a ride that may not be for the squeamish.

The DVD certainly has a very good transfer with great sound that contains the English dub soundtrack with original Cantonese & Mandarian soundtrack, theatrical trailer including to some Hong Kong flicks, a synopsis on the film and bio page. I highly recommend this movie to fans of "Kill Bill", martial arts, horror, fantasy, sci-fi and gore flicks.

Also recommended: "Battle Royale", "Ichi The Killer", " Versus", " The Evil Dead", "Evil Dead 2", "Re-Animator", "Day of the Dead", "Total Recall", "Starship Troopers", " From Dusk Till Dawn","Videodrome", "Scanners", " The Toxic Avenger", "Demons", "Rabid Grannies", "Kill Bill Vols 1 & 2", " Akira", " Ghost in The Shell", "Ninja Scroll", " Cemetery Man", " Nightmare City", " Hell of the Living Dead", " Mad Max", "Road Warrior", " Terminator 1 & 2", " The Fly ( 1986)", " Texas Chainsaw Massacre part 2", "Maniac ( 1980)", "I Spit on Your Grave", " Rats: A Night of Terror", " Enter the Dragon", " The Green Mile", " Bio-Zombie", " Robocop", " Nightmare on Elm Street series", "Cannibal Ferox", "Cannibal Holocaust", "Jungle Holocaust", " Eaten Alive!", " Hero", "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon", " Blade Trilogy", " The Running Man", " Blood Diner", " Last House on The Left", " House on The Edge of the Park", "Cool Hand Luke", H.G. Lewis movies, "Fist of the North Star" (Animated), " Violence Jack", " Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend".

Summary: HEEHEE
Review: I was introduced to this movie by my girlfriend...she's a fan of outrageous and ridiculous violence. Hmm, lol.

First off, anyone looking for a serious hyper violent kung fu movie look elsewhere...those looking for some silly hyper violent kung fu action, you've found your Holy Grail.

What Riki-Oh comes off to me is a parody of all the movies that take themselves too seriously. It's a movie you expect the actors to crack up when delivering lines but they keep that straight face, which confounds you even more. It's what you'd get if you combined Van Damme, Street Fighter (the video game or the cheesy Van Damme flick), DBZ, and lets not forget the most important quality...a heavy dosing of over dramatic acting ala William Shatner.

What you come out with is extreme outrageousness that can only be best described as "Fantastic". This movie has no logic to it, and that's not to be insulting...so don't look for anything to make sense. Just have fun :)

Summary: Ricky-Oh is Oh-kay
Review: Riki O is as said before one of the most over the top gory films ever, and yes it looks absoulutley unrealistic and fake as...eheh I'll stop righ there. So lets get to it...

When mild mannered Ricky takes revenge on the drug pushing thugs who killed his Girlfriend he is sent to some maximum prison which is run by a host of evil characters including a sick sadistic warden, his assistant, and The Gang of Four which are a group of powerful fighters who control their fellow inmates. The rest you must see for yourself...

The story is not that great and is pretty average. I only got this cause a guy at some Anime Expo told me this is a great Gore film so I decided to give it a hoot. After watching this film I must say it in someways is one of the worst films but also in the way it's some hardcore cult fun(I know that makes no sence but what the hey!) Ricki Oh as most people have said it is pretty wierd. And what makes this wierd is its oh-so funny dubbing especially Ricki who sounds just like Michael Jackson.

The movie is pretty gory. For one example he punchest through a guys throat and into his mouth causing some hole in it which causes the guy to ooz up blood and all that yadi yada. The film is pretty gory but If I had to range it from 1 to 10 I would give it a 2 cause it is soooooo unrealistic. Still this is a pretty violent movie I mean heads are blown off, body's are broken, stomach are punched through causing massive blood and ect,Eyes are punched out of peoples faces, stomachs are cut open and intestince are used as weapons, Arms sliced off and there's more I can tell you but I'm to lazy to type it down.

Overall I enjoyed Ricki Oh but the film had lots of flaws, horrible dubbing, fake Violence but is made up for that from its great yet stupid action and pretty average yet laughable story and dialoug and that's why I give it a

3.0 out of 5...this film was sooooo clost to getting a 2.9...

If you can look past the really fake violence and funny dubbing you'll enjoy this film just as much as I did.

And the over the top villians lik the cannibal Assistant Warden - PRICELESS!

Buy it for the "Meat Grinder" scene at the end alone!

Summary: Faster, Riki-oh---Kill! Kill! Kill!
Review: Blood! Guts! Glory!

Look, let's boil this thing right down to brass knuckles and make sure *nothing* gets lost in translation: if you want to know what you're getting with "Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky" (or "Lai Wong", as it's known in Hong Kong), you're getting what an Arnold Schwarzenegger/Sylvester Stallone flick filmed in the mid-eighties could have been---would have been---had not Hollywood suffered beneath the lash of Jack Valenti and his fascist MPAA Ratings regime.

The Plot? I'll humor you: martial arts master and all around good-ol-boy Riki-Oh gets sent to prison for---killing someone in a noble cause, I think, but I don't remember. I don't think it matters much. He offends the Assistant Warden, and has to fight for his life. That's pretty much it.

You get John Carpenter-style shooting and synthesizer score; you get the heartless uber-capitalistic prison with its sadistic Assistant Warden (Cheng Chuen Yam, who could pass as Mao Tse-Tung's fat twin) who keeps breath mints that taste like rotten eggs in his glass eye. You get a completely deranged Warden with his incorrigibly nasty and wicked little kid (shades of "Midnight Express", if "Midnight Express" had been written by Satan).

You get a hugely over-muscled protagonist, the hapless (but noble) Riki-Oh, played by the endearing Bin Shimada. I think his delivery was good, but I couldn't tell: for fun I was toggling between the Cantonese and Mandarin dialogue settings. I don't think the flick was shot originally in either language, because the lips don't match up to the dialogue---and hey, it looks like the film was shot in formerly Portuguese Macao (look at the name of the Prison as Riki's bus enters the fortress: looks like something "Masculino", which would be 'men' in Portuguese). You even get soul-wrenching sentimentality.

But you get something we *never* got in Arnold flicks: you get sheer, unmitigated, untrammeled gore and brutality.

For sheer second-by-second drunken entertainment value, Ricki-Oh is Hong Kong's Fort Knox. You get faces ripped totally off, heads smashed in and quivering gelatinously, arms torn out of their sockets, eyeballs gouged in by rusty spikes, hideously fat men getting Ricky's free "hands-on" liposuction technique, one of Riki's slobbering rivals gutting themselves and using their own bloody entrails to strangle our hero. And that's just the beginning!

Be warned: uber disgusting-film-God Ngai Kai Lam shot "Story of Riki" for less money than I probably have in my pocket right now. These are cheap effects, set in a cheap (but effectively industrial) setting---but my God, they work some potent magic, and by the time the credits rolled I was giggling like a schoolgirl. Frankly, some of the battle set-pieces are primally effective: the scene where Riki-Oh challenges a cell-block gang leader, who sits, adorned with his Chinese gang tatoos, on a crucifix bearing the corpse of Riki's friend.

If you ever wondered what Arnold would *really* do to those Mafioso without an "R" rating, see this flick. If you ever wondered what the real meaning of "guts and glory" was, see this flick. If you ever wanted to see an intestine used as lethal weapon, see this flick.

Enjoy.
