Summary: Epic Classic
Review: One of Jackie Chan's early films, on almost epic proportions. It's full of multi-national characters, elaborate period costumes, and of course lots of fights and comedy typical of Jackie Chan films. A big treat is that Samo Hung and Yuen Biao, his Peking Opera pals and probably the only ones his caliber, star in the film. Definately a hit. The DVD quality is great and in wide-screen format.

Summary: PROJECT A
Review: PROJECT A is an exciting and intense film with lots of action throughout. The acting is not the best with the voices being dubbed. Jackie is quite funny though and Sammo Hung puts in an excellent performance as a conman as well.

Summary: Good movie, not so good DVD
Review: Project A the movie is a Jackie Chan classic. Doesn't have a great story, but it's not bad enough to detract from the action, and it's well paced. The action scenes are some of Chan's most inventive. Unfortunately the DVD doesn't take advantage of some of the benefits of DVD's, namely the option of viewing the original cantonese soundtrack with subtitles. Why not let people choose how to watch it. But an even bigger gripe from this release is the fact that they cut out the outtakes from the end. That's a Chan trademark! The original version featured several takes of his insane clock tower fall. Anyway, it's worth a view, but if you're thinking about buying it, try to look for a Hong Kong DVD.

Summary: An Excellent Jackie Chan Movie
Review: Project A was a funny, action packed film. And as usual, it is a must see movie for all Jackie Chan fans. The only bad thing about this movie is the bad dubbing.

Summary: Bingo -- one of the best Jackie Chans, finally rereleased.
Review: The only thing in Project A that doesn't measure up to the rest of the Dimension releases of the Chan catalogue is cinematography. Like so many other Hong Kong movies of its time, the camera work and the aesthetics simply don't measure up and have dated badly.

But that should be no reason for you to miss a rousing good time filled with martial-arts action, endearingly corny dialogue, and the priceless interplay of the Chan triumvirate: Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao. The slapstick in Project A is some of the best in the Chan oeuvre: The exciting bike ride through the slums of old Hong Kong, where bamboo sticks, buckets and even doors become weapons; Hung and Chan's fight with the bad guys in a restaurant; the midnight mutual stalking in the fields on the island; the hand-grenade gag. And the martial-arts action utilizes the best of all three actors, with Chan's athleticism, Hung's unusual (stocky) style and Yuen's dogfighting combining for an action-film treat. The final battle is also thrilling, with all three squaring off a graceful, musclebound pirate king.

Chan's direction is good; even if this movie has the same zoom-lens addiction as so many films of its time, the pacing is tight, the rich old-Hong Kong setting unusual and fascinating, and the characters (well, except the squealing girlfriend) lovable. Essential viewing for Chan fans.

Summary: Is it Jackie's real voice?
Review: There is no doubt that this is the best Jackie's film for a long time... However, I don't like this DVD version. First of all, I think that the voice of Jackie isn't done by himself...(I guess.) I have a original "Project A", and this is way better than this one... Then, some scenes were cut. Music was totally changed. (I tell you, this is a big problem.) Don't get me wrong, I love this film. However, I just can't have this DVD. I understand that this is the only DVD version in the U.S., so if you have never seen this movie, you have to choose this one... But if you don't mind, try to pick VHS version which has the original language with English subtitles. I give the 5 stars for movie itself, but 3 stars for this DVD.

Summary: Project A (1983)
Review: This is a great film! Jackie gets assigned to the police force when a pirate gang destroys his fleet. Jackie joins forces with Sam and Yuen Biao. Highlights: the clock tower scene and most of all the bicycle chase (this chase is even better than all the James Bond chases combined!)!

Summary: Great Action Film
Review: This is a must-see-Jackie Chan-movie, if you are a fan. It has interesting story, good fighting scences and humors too. However, Drunken Master 2 and Super Cop 1, 2 ,3 are the better ones. Yet, this is a worth watching movie for the Jackie fans.

Summary: DVD version is very well done!
Review: This is one of Jackie Chan's best movies. Lots of action, good stunts, very funny, and even has a decent plot (like we watch Jackie Chan movies for a plot anyways, but it does make it more interesting). No bloopers are shown at the end which I was hoping for on DVD but that doesnt hurt the movie one bit.

The DVD is really well done. Jackie Chan provides his own voice, the picture quality is great, and the dubbing is the best I have seen on any foreign film. I would rather have the orignal voices and subtitle but its not on here. But the dubbing is so well done it doesnt annoy you at all. They actually use different voices for each character and when the lips stop moving the voice stops and vice versa.

There is a menu screen where you have a chapter selection so after you watch the whole thing and just want to watch the awesome fight scenes you can without fast forwarding through the entire movie like you do with a bunch of other hong kong movies. Also there is english subtitle for the hearing impaired but the dubbing is still there.

Note on the subtitle: The subtitle is yellow, not white, and readable throughout the entire movie which is how all subtitles should be on all movies. Just thought I would mention that since most of my movies I cant read the subtitle on because it is white.

The DVD version is 10 times better then the VHS version. I cant wait for the new release DVD version of Project A II.
