Rating: Summary: Breathtaking! Review: It was absolutely breathtaking! One of the best movies I've ever seen. Being deaf, the subtitles didn't bother me at all, as I'm used to watching with closed captions. The subtitles and the rave reviews I'd seen are what prompted me to go see the movie. I'm a Bruce Lee fan and always loved his fighting choreography. This movie has the same poetry in motion choreography that Bruce Lee's movies had, probably even better. I'm also a very visual person, and the stunts and special effects took my breath away. My 17 year old daughter, who isn't a martial arts fan, loved this movie too and insisted that I buy the DVD when it comes out next week. I agree with some that CTHD is a lot superior than The Gladiator.
Rating: Summary: The Dance Review: Many of you have inflicted the martial arts as if it were a simple fact of life. Martial arts, konfu...ect... is not about simplicity, it is the dance of life. It involves everything, from a grain of sand to an infinte wonder. Those who truely master the art are gifted, those who can see and appreciate it are valued, but those who imitate and distruct its meaning, its standards, its teachings are hipricrats with no sense of apprication. They showed only an imitation of the dance, and many were impressed. To appricate the dance you must see it done by a master, not an imatater.
Rating: Summary: It's the BEST Review: Crouching Tiger is a movie where you need to look between the lines. It's not really obvious unless you've watched it 5 million times, like I have. It's great to have a DVD of this movie because you want to be able to watch this again and again and again...
Rating: Summary: The Best! Review: This is my favorite movie of all time! The film is action packed, features beautiful sceneries of China and has a beautiful story-line that will keep you watching. CTHD is a true chinese martial fairy-tale.
Rating: Summary: my favorite movie-beautiful Review: Well, words cannot express how beautiful this film is. I wish Hollywood would make movies like this. Ang Lee thank you for bringing this magnificent piece of art to us. I felt like I was transported into a dream, and I didnt want to leave. How could the academy give it to Gladiator? I believe that this will go down as a classic. If there is anyone who hasnt had the privelege of seeing this,it has everything. But I believe it is about finding yourself in life. And it revolves around two very different love stories, one is tragic, and the other is uplifting. There is nothing more to say, again Ang Lee,you are a true genius. Thank you for giving us this great work.
Rating: Summary: I don't completely understand the hype. Review: I admit that I am new to the martial arts genre, but I would have liked this film more had it been dubbed. I realize that many purists scoff at this idea, but personally I feel I was forced to concentrate too much on the subtitles to enjoy the spectacular visuals everyone is talking about. It also seems that some dialogue was severely truncated in order to fit into short, readable subtitles. Perhaps there was a whole other level of texture to this story that I was missing. As for the visuals, yes they are fantastic, but not neccessarily beyond the movies that people dismiss as silly and campy. I found other imported movies like Legend of Drunken Master and Tai Chi Master (A.k.a. Twin Warriors) to be, on the whole, much more enjoyable. The flight and other action scenes here are treated as mundane occurences by the other characters, and that lack of enthusiasm only reminded me that these were special effects. The plot was also somewhat more predictable than one would hope for in a movie that won so many awards. I think the American success of this movie has more to do with new fans wanting to make a "classy" entrance to the genre than the actual quality of the film.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie Review: It is the greatest movie i've ever seen. It deserves Oscar.
Rating: Summary: Lobby lobby see Review: Must see movie. Must see movie. Must see movie. Movie. Movie.
Rating: Summary: The greatest movie Review: I always watch anime and love that style of movies, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon brought those anime's to life, it has every type of movie in it, so if you like a certain kind of movie, see it, if you like a combination of types of movies, you'll like it even more, if you like anime, you'll love this movie, it's my favorite movie right now, I view the only downfall of this movie is not having a regular ending, it had a crazy ending, for some movies that makes it better, like in anime's, but I'm still not used to it in regular movies, if and when I ever do, this will be the ultimate movie, I know I will never get tired of this movie, because it is subtitled, it makes the experience new every time, you discover something new every time.
Rating: Summary: It's kinda Okay Review: Crouching tiger is an okay film with some of China's best known actors and actresses. Except that the fight scenes are all lame (except for the restaurtant figt), there is too much talk, less action, and I think it's so dumb, how people can just fly about on roof tops- it's just so unreal! The plot is complicated, but it's quite good once you understand it.
