Summary: Nothing like I've ever seen
Review: Jackie Chans big movie that got his name recognized. From the first point I saw Chan fight I was rolling. One guy in the middle of a crowd of gangsters just going nutz on them kicking their [butts] All this while keeping a desperate look on his face is what makes this guy really fun to watch. The story is a little bit bland and gets a little boring in the end but with fight seens that have been done so well you can't give this movie any lower than a four.

Summary: Rumble with the uncut version instead!!!
Review: I really enjoyed this film and own it on vcd in the original uncut version. However, it's not subtitled but language is not a problem even if you're not fluent in the Cantonese dialect. Just a note, there's a subtitled version available but it's dubbed entirely in Mandarin. That version is also uncut. The uncut version is also now available on DVD after a long absence. If you search the internet you might be able to locate a copy. While the US version isn't bad, the uncut Hong Kong version is definitely much better!!!

Summary: Loads of ACTION!
Review: This movie has tons of action. They did a good job on translating to english. The stunts that Chan performs are just breathtaking. He has a nice supporting cast. The kid Danny made me laugh. This is definetly one Jackies top 5 movies he's done.

Summary: The one of akind movie you will want to see again and again!
Review: This movie is one of the most intertaining dvd I have. It is one of the dvd's I watch the most. You know why becouse it is not boring like other wanna be movies. It has everything to make a movie intertaining and fun to watch. I used to have the vhs version but it wore out for being watched to much. Probally becouse I lend it out to much. Now that I got the dvd i do not think it will wear out like the vhs.

This movie is so cool becouse the storie line for it is very good. It starts off when Jackie Chan arrives to New York city for his uncles wedding. He goes to his wedding and helps out in the store as he planned but other things happened that he did not plan. He ends up getting into problems with these local gang, just for protecting his uncles store. And many other things happen that you can find out by renting or buying this dvd. Like getting into problems with these wanna be FBI dudes. And other crazy stuff you do not see in any other movie! Thats why I recommend you should go out and buy or rent this dvd. If I were you I would preffer buying it becouse you are going to wnat to see it again and again!

Summary: what I was missing
Review: I have no idea why I rented this. Always used to watch romantic comedies & little else. At first, I had a hard time getting over its being dubbed, which I usually hate. Now I hardly ever watch romantic comedies & Jackie Chan is the man! His shy, self-deprecating wit, gentlemanly manner and INCREDIBLE athleticism made me want to see every movie he's done. (And I almost have.) He has this amazing way of squashing the bad guys without working up a sweat & yet seeming to be the same kind of gentle goofus you'd be proud to bring home to mom. OK, so the plot doesn't really hang together. Who needs a plot???

Summary: Rumble in the Bronx Indeed!...
Review: This is it. This is the film that introduced Jackie Chan to the masses in America, forever putting him on the map of action heroes. The film is basically a 90 tour-de-force highlight of Chan's exciting and often times hilarious, high-octane, in-your-face kung fu antics featuring Chan's trademarked ultra-choreographed but jaw-dropping and awe-inspiring just plain AWESOME action sequences (including the trademarked end-of-film outtakes).

THE MOVIE

The Story: Jackie's character travels to New York to attend his uncle's wedding and help at his supermarket. He unwittingly gets into a war with the neighborhood motorcycle/street gang, which in turn becomes unwittingly involved in a high-stakes diamond heist operation.

Notable Scenes:

1. The initial supermarket fight scene.

2. The motorcycle gang's pursuit of Jackie in a parking structure.

3. The hovercraft scene.

THE DVD FEATURES:

Somewhat limited in the special features section, the DVD nonetheless includes a nice short bio on Chan himself including a complete filmography (up to the point that the DVD was published anyway...) as well as the original movie theater trailer for Rumble In the Bronx.

THE VERDICT:

Overall, this is another great outing from Jackie and whether you purchase, rent or borrow, this is a recommended film for all action movie/martial arts film/Jackie Chan fans.

Highly Recommended

Summary: A Good Solid Movie, but it Has it's Flimsy Spots
Review: I will not say that I didn't enjoy this movie quite a bit; that's why I own it after seeing it only a few times. The thing is, is that after seeing this movie a few times in the first week of owning it, I started to notice some serious downfalls in this movie.

First, I can start off by pointing out that this movie has almost the exact same soundtrack as Police Story's 1,2 & 4 (Police Story 4 is AKA First Strike), and Mr. Nice Guy. While I enjoy composer J. Peter Robinson's music very much, enough can be enough. I also noticed that the end of the movie was a bit abrupt, with no big end finale fight scene. While I did hear that Jackie breaking his ankle on the jump was why a final fight scene which was planned for the movie did not appear, and while I won't blame anyone for that, but it is still a letdown.

Soon I looked closer at the action. I soon began to realize that the battle in the store, the first battle in the movie, is actually the most convincing of them all. While the battle in Tony's base was quite spectacullarly planned and executed, the hits themselves just didn't seem real until Jackie picked up the ski, saving both himself and the scene. Not to mention, while all the actors are decently convincing, almost all are generally rather weak; all except Jackie, who did a rather solid performance here.

It should also be made aware that the non-action scenes are quite important to the movie. Whenever I have a rough day, I sometimes turn on Dragons Forever, or Operation Condor, and pretend that I am Jackie and the people responsible for my long day are the people he beats up, as I skip from action scene to action scene. This movie somehow doesn't allow you to. I think it's because the movie isn't about the fights between Jackie and the gangsters, but the fact that they are so bruttally stalking and terrorising him because he has the courage and strength to fight back. The action-based attitude is the movie, not the action.

However, put all downsides aside, and this is a very cool movie. It told a decent enough story, and the characters were all well developed. Go Jackie!

Summary: Lovely film - but that awful dubbing in a lot of chanflicks
Review: I love Chan ! He's funny ! He's a good actor and
a great stuntman AND I love his Chinese !
I HATE DUBBING !! Living in Europe I know
about dubbing , the most nationalist countries
dub practically all foreign stuff : The French
(funny to see De Niro in Taxi Driver en francais )
and the Germans who should know better !!
We Belgians , the Dutch , the British mostly
prefer subtitles , it gives most of the films a more autenthique feel and to me shows more
respect to the actors , director , country that
you wanna make an effort!
Unfortunately even here they distribute mostly
the dubbed Chan movies , it's an insult to
Chan ( but he probably doesn't care as long
as they sell ) and the public especially !!
I would forbid it by law or make them give
people the choice at no extra cost !!

Summary: Only seen Rush Hour? You haven't seen Jackie Chan.
Review: I feel obligated to write this review. One day at dinner my sister mentioned she saw Rush Hour and she thought Jackie Chan was so cute. I don't want to disparage Rush Hour or its soon to be seen sequel but if all you have seen of Jackie Chan is Rush Hour, then you haven't seen a Jackie Chan movie. Jackie Chan's charisma and fight sequences are turned down to a two on a scale of ten on Rush Hour. Even Shanghai Noon only gives you a taste of Jackie. To really experience Jackie Chan at his best in an American film, your only true choice is Rumble in the Bronx. If you have never seen Jackie Chan at all, Rumble in the Bronx will instantly make you a fan. It is only here that you will see why people love him the world over. He does what I can only classify as the most amazing fighting you will ever see. What makes his fighting so unique is the fantastic speed, creativity and humor that go into it. As if that weren't enough to knock you out it is his winning smile and good heart that will amaze you even more. What will furthur slay you even more is when you see the outtakes at the end of the picture. He never uses a stuntman and he does some really dangerous stuff and actually gets hurt pretty bad on occasion all because he wants you to be totally entertained. In one outtake after he has broken his foot you will see they make him a fake cast to look like a tennis shoe so he can still do a crazy stunt where he gets dragged by a boat. Its insane but no matter what happens he always comes up smiling. People love him because they know that is always him putting it all out on the line for you. Anyway if all you have seen is American Jackie Chan films, please rent or buy Rumble in the Bronx. You are missing out on so much.

(If you don't mind subtitles, his great Chinese film Drunken Master just became avalilable)
