Summary: END GAME-DISAPOINTING
Review: I saw this movie at the theater when it came out, and I also rented it as soon as I found out it was available to rent. I am a big fan of Highlander, but this movie left a lot to be desired. I would rate it about the same as the original version of Highlander 2. First of all, I hate it when the legends are distorted or overlooked to make a movie. Am I the only person who realizes that it was shown in the series that Duncan was never married? When he asked Tess to marry him he flashed back to a time when he remembered being told he would love many women, but never take a wife. I remeber it well as it was in the episode where Tess was killed. As for the "new" ending for the video release of this movie, I thought it was just as bad a the theatrical version. If, and hopefully when another Highlander film is made, this just leave another storyline which will be forgotten or changed. If history repeats, the next film will be a great movie. Look at it from this point of view, the first film was wonderfull, the second (well, you know), then Final Dimension was a great movie, and now End Game(again, you know). In all honesty, I will purchase this move as soon as it is reduced in price to go with my collection, but as I say , it will not be one of my favorites. I am a true Highlnder fanatic, so I hope you apreciate my honesty.

Summary: Above average Highlander movie
Review: As long as you overlook the continuity aspects of the Highlander movie franchise, then this movie isn't really that bad. Personally I like all the Highlander movies-- even including Highlander 2 (the Renegade version that is), and the TV series is a classic as well.

Now, on to End Game: I thought it was good, but then again I'm a big fan of Highlander... some of my friends, however, really hated the movie-- they aren't fans though. Obviously they either had problems with the continuity or they plain old just don't get Highlander. Overall it was an enjoyable movie for me, and an above average one at that. So, I'd be really happy if Duncan MacLeod appeared in at least one more movie. I think they should have Amanda in it too because they have good chemistry together. And of course don't forget about Joe and Methos. If they do make 1 more movie, then they should at least resolve some of the present issues at hand-- Adrian Paul can't play the Highlander forever and niether can Elizabeth Gracen. Anyways they could always start another TV show. How about a movie that takes place in outer space or something... or how about they discover that immortals are really hybrid aliens or something (which was hinted at in Highlander 2: The Quickening)...

Now that Connor is dead (he'll always be THE Highlander to me), they can concentrate on one thing and not both. Hopefully, they (the producers) won't make any more conflicting storylines and characters, it would be nice to have a fresh new immortal created...

Summary: You are kidding Right!
Review: A glorified TV episode with a few special effects. Potential was there to really crank it up but they just fall short. One would think that after 400 years you would amass a wealth of knowledge and talent. Speak many languages, blend into different customs. They should have done this on multiple locations with different fighting styles of different cultures. Guess I should start writing my own scripts. Buy something else.

Summary: What Where They Thinking???
Review: what where they thinking when they made this movie. it completely ignores the movies, and the characters are weakly portrayed. the villian was horrible, the broad was a bad actress, and worst of all it didn't even have the music the 1st movie and the tv series did which added the great atmosphere to those. the only redeeming quality is that you get to see connor, duncan, methos, and joe again. Any of the two or three parter tv series episodes would have made better movies than this. this is just weak i expected more out of this movie. so you should rent this movie instead of making my mistake and buying it!

Summary: A New Low for Highlander
Review: The one star rating is much too generous, but 0 stars and minus stars are not provided. This film is utterly unbearable! The only redeeming features are some attractively misty location photography and the tiny metal crosses on one character's shoes. Am I clutching at straws? You bet, but unlike the makers of this unbelievably awful pile of sludge, I'm not yet plumbing the depths of REAL desperation. The writing, direction and acting are abysmal, and I was begging my co-viewers to stop the DVD player well before the supposedly exciting finale. Appearing soon in a used DVD bin near you! (By the way, I had no complaints about the actual technical quality of the disc, thank you).

Summary: Alternate ending- Connor isn't in it- sorry guys
Review: Just to let you know, I'm going to say what happens to the characters, so SPOILERS for those who haven't seen it.

I heard rumors that there is a video coming out where Connor may not die. So I rented the {Bonus footage} {new Ending} Instead of Duncan at Connor's headstone, walking off into the sunset after saying his goodbye's and having flashbacks of Connor with beautiful Celtic music playing, they have the flashbacks when Connor dies, and instead of walking off into the sunset, Duncan ends up on what looks like some kind of movie or photo shoot set, and he starts to walk away, and down the stairs comes "faith", the woman he married centuries ago, mortal, until he killed her violently so her immortal power could be released, and she could be with him litterally forever. But she didn't want forever.

first off...Duncan wouldn't have killed her. he would have told her I think, about her immortality and left the choice up to her.

Secondly... Connor became disenchanted with life, mankind, and hope. It seems a rather drab way for such a loved warrior to go out.

Third... Connor should have been brought back in the alternate ending somehow. Not faith. In the movie she dies, in this version the same thing happens, only it turns out Kell didn't kill her after all. It sucked out all of the emotion from the movie ending which left a tear in your eye when Duncan walks away from Connor's grave. This version just makes you go, "Huh?"

Forth...one of the watchers kidnaps duncan because he doesn't want the immortals to get down to the last one. He says there should always be two. Yet in the added scene origionally cut, he tries to kill Duncan as he's fighting Kell. No reason why or anything. Joe Dawson walks in, shoots him, says merry christmas and leaves. Another... "HUH?" Why would he 1.) try to kill Duncan knowing that would be one less Immortal, one closer to an immortal winning the prize which is what he tried to avoid, and 2.) why didn't he go for Kell knowing Kell has killed the most immortals of them all?

and lastly...the script writers...were they tv show writers to begin with? Because this wasn't movie material.

If you get the movie, see if there is the origional version played in theaters. The added scenes sucked, the origional ending shown in theaters was much more emotional, and gave it the perfect holding your breath kind of ending.

At least there is hope. Even Christopher Lambert himself said "I'm only 44. I still have at least 6 good years left. and hey, they brought Spock back in Star Trek. So you never know." (He said this in an interview on tv with Adrian Paul.) so that gives us hope...right?

Summary: What is that smell????
Review: I'm happy that I simply rented this dvd. If you've only seen the television series, you may enjoy it, but it doesn't stack up to the best episodes there. If you're a fan of the first movie (where Connor killed the Kurgan and won the prize) and hated the following two sequels---then you'll hate this one too.

Not to ruin anything, but the plot was pretty weak, the acting was sub-par (execpt for the series regulars, who were as good as usual), and the special effects were only so-so.

I loved the tv series, and this movie bridges the series to the big screen, but to sacrifice some of the best characters from the original movie was a bad idea and in bad taste.

This release gets 2 stars only because I made it through the entire thing before feeling completely let down.

Have a nice day.

Summary: A DVD Sound-Check review
Review: I was finally able to listen to the DVD at appropriate theatrical sound levels (that is -- really, really loud).

OOoooooooooooohhhhhhhhh!!

The sound designers, Foley folks and all other sound tekkies really have done a terrific job. After 15 years using my last stereo rig, I finally have a state-of-the-current-art 6 speaker set-up with DVD, CD, MD, major sub-woofer, etc. and a humongous receiver to pump it all out.

One of the major points of DVD technology is the ability to have magnificent sound and Highlander: Endgame takes full advantage of it.

The Quickenings (especially the climactic last one) are incredible -- the lightning and explosions occur all around you -- to the point I found myself whipping my head around to see if the noise I heard behind me was our cats destroying something made of glass!!

Nice job all!!!

Summary: As Good As Always
Review: The Highlander "Series" are an extremely creative saga that I hope never dies. I am a female and even with all the fighting scenes there is enough romance and fantasy for the ladies to ponder and wish for in real life. I really enjoy the past/present switches throughout the movie, they keep you tuned into the whole picture and whole centuries long storyline. This movie is not for the analytical mind, nor for the right brainers out there, your left brain needs to be turned on to reach for the fantasy of these movies and series. I hope you enjoy as much as I do, the movie is very entertaining and I hope to see more films in the future.

Summary: Highlander Endgame
Review: Okay, I am a new viewer to the Highlander saga and I am totally enchanted by the movies and the series. I haven't found the second and third movies yet but have seen the original and end game and was captivated from beginning to end. From what I've seen, continuity isn't the greatest but do I care? No, the action was more than enough to compensate for that. The swordplay in this movie has much improved from the first movie and also an improvement over the series. If you're going to watch EndGame, in my opinion, you must see the first Highlander movie first and even watch some of the series to get a feel for the characters and the traits that they each bring to this movie. That's crucial to find out how both these characters tick. My definition of a good movie is if I cry, it's worth watching...I cried.

Looking forward to seeing more!
