Summary: GREAT movie. The WORST video transferr to DVD I've seen.
Review: Jackie Chan fans everywhere rushed to the theaters to see his latest breathtaking action scenes (and of course the prerequsite outtakes during the credits). RUSH HOUR is Jackie's tightest, best developed movie yet. A good friend of mine has bemoaned the slickness of this film- too glossy, not enough Kung Fu, no stunts that make you say "holy smokes, I can't believe Jackie actually DID that". For Hardcore Jackie fans, this may be the worst "Jackie Chan" film ever made. -but it's also the BEST film ever made with Jackie Chan in a starring role (that Cannonball Run movie notwithstanding.) The plot is even and engauging, the charachters are suprisingly well developed (for a film of this genre) and we finally have an on-screen foil for Jackie's amazing acrobatics- Chris "don't-call-me-Rock" Tucker. Finally, a Jackie Chan movie I can take my girlfriend to without spending days explaining why I can sit in a theater for two hours to see a movie with a paper-thin plot watching guys beat each other up and insisting that the CREDITS are the best part!

One small caveat.... the DVD.

This disc has ALOT of cool stuff on it... director's commentary, a "making of" short film, TWO music videos, deleted scenes, computer stuff... the list goes on. I buy DVD for the extras, the great sound, the killer picture quality... Here's where we fall depressingly short. This film IS letterboxed- INCORRECTLY!! I don't know the aspect ratios for the transfer, but they're WRONG. Watching this movie is like seeing a film through a fishbowl. The real killer is that if you watch the deleted scenes they were done in the original aspect ratio and look GREAT! AAARRGH!! After 2 hours of wall-eyed dizzying, headache-inducing gazeing at this disc I was ready to put a shoe through my Mitsubishi!

See the film. Watch the DVD at your peril.

Summary: Best of any other Jackie Chan movie while the most recent!
Review: In this movie, Chris Tucker must have been badly embarrassed. Jackie Chan always saves his tail. Anyone who watches this movie will probably laugh like crazy until he or she cries! Jackie Chan had really done it this time!

Summary: A movie that combines action and comedy, and comes on top!
Review: This movie made me crack up. Chan's high-paced martial arts action and Tucker's smash comedy has combined in Rush Hour, one of the best movies, according to me. This movie had good acting and great combination. I surely want this one, and you should too.

Summary: I think this movie was great!
Review: The comparison of the fast moves of Jackie Chan and the loud mouth of Chris Tucker make a great entertainment movie.

Summary: Thumbs up for Chan, down for Tucker
Review: For me, a little Chris Tucker goes a long, long, looooong way. Unfortunately, Tucker is very prominent in this movie, relegating Chan to the background much too often. So, this is my least favorite Jackie Chan movie. Jackie's great as usual -- but it's only half HIS movie.

Summary: Jackie finally gets a big Hollywood movie!
Review: Though the plot isn't very original, the juxtaposition of Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan make the film. As the tagline says, "The fastest hands in the East meet the biggest mouth in the West." Lots of hilarious scenes with both Chris Tucker & Jackie Chan, and just enough incredible fights and stunts to keep the Chan fans satisfied (though I wish they could've had more!). The extras on this DVD are excellent! Highly recommended!

To clarify for other reviewers:

Twin Dragons is a Hong Kong film which was made (and released) in 1996. It's being re-distributed here in the US to get Chan fans into theaters.

Jackie STILL does all of his own stunts (that WAS him handling the vase). Frame-by-frame on the DVD shows it.

Summary: Wonderful! Absolutely entertaining, it deserves an Oscar.
Review: This movie is better than any Jackie Chan movie I have seen, Rumble in the Bronx and Operation Condor. I wouldn't be sure if this is better than Twin Dragons because I didn't see it yet when I wrote this review. Still, Rush Hour is the number one best in the United States. Now, I've realized that Jackie Chan is better than Bruce Lee because of his sense of humor and willingness.

Summary: The best Jackie Chan movie ever besides "Twin Dragons!"
Review: I never saw "Twin Dragons" when I wrote and submitted this review. I thought "Rush Hour" would be the last movie starring Jackie Chan as one of the main characters because it is the best, until "Twin Dragons" was made. Still, I like "Rush Hour," it's better than "Operation Condor" and "Rumble in the Bronx."
