Summary: There is magic between Jet Li and Aaliyah
Review: This movie is Jet Li's first lead role in an english language film and hopefully many more will follow. Romeo must die has an ok plot, good acting and great fight scenes.

Romeo must die is a martial arts version of, as if the title wasn't a dead give away, Romeo and Juliet. In this movie, Han (Jet Li) escapes from prison in Hong Kong and comes to the US only to find his brother murdered. While searching for his brothers murderer, he accidentally bumps into Trish (Aaliyah), who just happens to be the daughter of his father's primary rival.

Jet Li plays an excellent little tough guy. He is neither as wooden as Chou Yun Fat or as goofy as Jackie Chan. He is, however, an excellent martial artist and a pleasure to watch in action. Beyond being a great entertainer, Aaliyah's acting is also credible and she is absolutely beautiful. There is obvious on screen chemistry between the two, however, it is never developed in the film.

The supporting cast also make solid contributions to the movie. In particular Anthony Anderson makes a great funny man as Maurice. Russel Wong is an accomplished martial artist that helps Jet Li to showcase his talents.

The DVD is a good buy. The film looks good, the sound is excellent (a little too much bass) and it has an excellent sound track. There are lots of interesting extras on the DVD. I don't particularly care for the "making of" documentaries that come with most DVDs because they are little more than extended commercials. Fortunately on this DVD, the music videos are good and the special effects featurettes are interesting.

Summary: WORST MARTIAL ARTS MOVIE EVER MADE
Review: It begins with phony martial arts in a ghetto atmosphere of profanity (and not just the movie, I felt like letting a few words fly after paying for this!) and crummy dialogue. Then my finger hit the fast-forward button more times than my heart was beating.

I wasn't asking for much. All I wanted was a movie along the lines of Van Damme. Some martial arts action with a semi-decent story. Instead I was so bored, especially with the ridiculous fight scenes (defying the laws of physics and common sense) and awful dialogue and story.

This movie should be listed as fantasy. Howard the Duck was more believable than this thing.

If you wanted to see realistic martial arts, you should've been at my house when I did the Crane as I was about to kick my TV in while this horrendous movie was playing.

Summary: This movie was awesome!
Review: I enjoy martial arts movies. Bruce Lee is an idol of mine with his pure martial arts moves.

When I first saw Jet Li in Lethal Weapon VI, I was impressed then by his moves. It wasn't until my daughter brought home the movie, Romeo Must Die from the video rental store that I saw the beauty of Li's movements. Being an avid Matrix fan, the special effects didn't bother me a bit. The grace of Li's moves is high art ballet, pure poetry in motion.

The plot is not nearly as lame as some movies I've seen lately and in the recent past and I did appreciate the fact that the couple was respectful of each other enough to not want to "make it" in the first 5 minutes of meeting each other. I don't watch movies for the "reality check" factor, I watch them to be entertained, and I was with this movie. I highly recommend it!

Summary: tonnes of action... wat more could you ask for?
Review: i dont know why so many people gave this film a bagging... wat were they expecting? i think that its good to see Jet Li trying out all sorts of different roles and i think he's done well in his second american feature. i have to say that nothing can ever beat once upon a time in china or fist of legend, but its no good dwelling in the past... i love the new-wave feel to this movie, with its great soundtrack and stunning visual artistry. the dvd does this film justice... although a directors commentry would have been good to see. i will watch this film over and over again and never get sick of it. Go Jet... kick some...!

Summary: action movie with a difference
Review: with the come back of superstar Jet Li in yet another action packed movie which depicts a very traditional chinese family and its conflicts to a black business family . The war between these family's is mainly due to the control of the dockyard which is owened half by the blacks and half by the chinese . We can also see a emotional backing to it where Jet Li proves his love to his brother by finding his kileer's. So very much worth seeing movie
