Summary: Cool Action Film
Review: I have to say i am new to Jet Li, i saw him in Lethal Weapon 4 and i have to admit he is very cool. After seeing L.W.4 i went out and bought 3 other movies 1) Fist Of Legend 2) The Enforcer and Finally Romeo Must Die.No matter how many times i see them,i think Jackie Chan is no match for Jet Li(Jet has style,Jackie now has lost it and time to stop makeing movies).Romeo Must Die is now the second best film i have seen, which has made me stand up and shout with joy,(the first is "The Matrix") ,the fighting seen with the fire hose is well done.My best score is 10/10 for the new Special Effect when he brakes a bone in the opponent Arm ( near the beginning of the film in the Hong Kong Prison ) beautiful, well done.Something new and exciting. The other good scenes are the The American Football Fight,The alley fight and the Last fight right at the end. All nicely done. not just a fight but also a few laughs check out the alley ( chapter 21) there is plenty of laughs there when he removes the bad guy's belt and his pants falls of,check out his face expression. The story line is also good for a change, solid and fair two maffia bosses trying to rule the area..
Great Movie.

I just hope Jet Li will make more movies like this or better. I haven't seen most of his older movies yet but if anyone out there can recommend them please let me know.

My last point is the Dvd quality of this movie is outstanding, good picture and fantastic sound.10/10 on all aspects Go for it action fans you will not be disappointed.Good from the start and it ends ....just right.

Summary: Good martial arts while hanging from a rope
Review: As a long-time martial artist, I hope that we are not going to see a continuation of people running along the sides of walls and executing impossible kicks while hanging in the air for several seconds at a time.

Jet Li's techniques by themselves are fast, explosive and fun to watch. He has a screen presence that compels you to look at him, even when he is just standing and talking.

Enough with the special effects martial arts; let him do his thing without having him fly through the air. It was cool in his first movie -- but it's getting old.

Summary: Matrix feel was way over the top.
Review: The opening scenes were pretty slow going. I had to wait quite a while to see how Han (Jet Li's character) fitted in with the other characters.

Some of the fight scenes were so over-the-top that it was so obvious that special effects were used, esp. when Jet starts spinning in mid-air, kick-butting some guy and then stops in mid-air, changes direction and continues to kick some more butt!

I did however like the playful relationship between Trish and Han. I'm also glad that there was no real romance between the two characters as I think this would have wrecked the story. The last fight scene with Han and Kai was especially good. At first I couldn't figure out where I had seen Kai before...then it dawned on me that he was one of the rotten husbands in "The Joy Luck Club".

A couple of the opening scenes seemed to be reminiscent of John Woo's directing style. Watching Kai get out of his car, his overcoat getting caught in an unusual updraft. Also scenes similar to "Three Kings" where the scene switched to an X-ray style, esp. when there were broken bones or punctured hearts involved.

I can' help think how much better the fight scenes would have been if they looked more realistic - like the Jackie Chan movies. However, the football scene and the fight on the stairwell was particularly good, as was the one with the firehose...just when you thought Han might have been beaten, he manged to surprise you.

Summary: Good!
Review: Great movie. However some of the kung fu scenes was just hoaky. I mean - in the air doing a 360 taking everybody out. If they were not trying to copy the Matrix - it would be a five star. But despite that - cool action scenes and Jet Li is just great!

Summary: Not a Good Vehicle for Jet Li
Review: First things first. Jet Li is awesome. Hong Kong action fans know that from his great debut in Shaolin Temple or his great Once Upon a Time in China series. Americans know his skills from his great performance in the awesome Lethal Weapon 4. So we all know Jet Li is the real deal.

Lets also give props to Aaliyah. She is great in the film. She played her part really well. She made a great film debut.

With that said, despite some good action scenes the film itself is too long and drawn out at times. Simply, there is not enough action. Too many streches of the film are boring. Plain and simple.

Should you rent this film. Sure, give it a try. But despite Jet Li's talent and Aaliyah's great debut the film is not great. This is not a film you will want to own or watch over again. My advice: check out some of Jet Li's older stuff or get Lethal Weapon 4. But Romeo must die is not a DVD to own.

I am glad the film was financially successful so hopefully Jet Li will come out with a better movie to showcase his talents.

Martial arts fans need to check out Jackie Chan's Project A now on DVD. That is a great Kung Fu film.

Summary: A little over-hyped but good
Review: This movie didn't have enough fight scenes, and some of thescenes weren't even real. Like where he runs across 5 guys and bounces off the wall and kicks another one, sorry, but that wasnt' real. But, with Li's first starring role in a Hollywood movie (Lethal Weapon 4 was not a starring role), he gets the benefit of excellent choreography. I love Jet Li, and I have just about all of his movies, but this could have done without DMX, who is a very terrible actor, and Aaliyah wasn't that bad. The fight scenes that were there were very good, especially the football scene, which wasn't really a fight scene, but was very amusing... This movie is a great modern-day remake (of sorts) of Romeo & Juliet... which for any movie, is darn near revolutionary. For his first big-time movie with him as the title character, he did a good job nd I can't wait for his next movie. I would get this movie even though there aren't that many fight scenes, but they are good though.

Summary: Outstanding
Review: I bought this movie on a hunch that it might be good, as I like Jet Li and wanted to see Aaliyah's debut acting. The open scene set the pace, and I liked the plot of 2 families, Asian and African American, having conflict with the dad's and friendship with the children (Li and Aaliyah). What made this movie great was the sound track, as the music and sound effects from the fight scenes and explosions came alive in the digital format. This movie is a must see if only for the sound effects, action scenes, and lesser degree the plot.

Summary: Great Movie!
Review: This is a great movie showing just how good a movie can be. My friends and I enjoy this movie a lot. I don't know a single person who doesn't like this movie. It is a great movie with great music and special effects.

Summary: Hong Kong, well almost
Review: With Jet Li's second US film, Romeo Must Die, US viewers get to see a bit more of why this guy is so famous in Asia. Following a jailed HK police officer named Han (Li) on his quest to learn the truth about his brother's death. Upon arrival he meets up with Trish (Aaliyah), the love interest. The film is truly a mixed bag. the way it is shot and filmed is truly slick, with a smooth new-style camera and hip visuals. the opening scenes are especially well done. one cannot fault any of the acting, and while most of the actors play their usual roles, they do it very well, so it's a safe bet. the music and sound is also well done, with a good mix of rap/hip-hop and a few moments of techno (the Crystal Method make their movie debut) and some good original scores. no problems here. the movie begins to fall apart with some of its more Matrix-esque fight scenes. while the X-ray effect is cool, the digital jumps and moves look awful. the SFX are truly cruddy and jagged, lacking the smooth effects of the matrix or wire work. i mean, this is Jet Li, not Keanu Reeves. while Keanu did a good job with his kung-fu bits in the matrix, jet li is the wire work master. he does not need bad CGI to make him look good. and especially not CGI that breaks all the laws of physics. all in all, a fun ride. the story is nothing new, though it is well told. Jet and Aaliyah are great together, and there are even some moments of great humor through the movie's dark story. Russell Wong does a good job as Kai, though he is a little under used in the movie. i must say that it will win no awards, but was a good action flick. there are several truly cool moments, and for the most part, one can just turn off their worries and enjoy some decent fights and acting. but i must say it. the title is really bad. it does not fit the movie at all.

Summary: More was expected
Review: I really expected more.. The fight scenes look a lot like puppets hanging with strings defying gravity and the laws of physics. I mean it was acceptable in the Matrix because the story line dictated it, but it's not so acceptable here though.

The plot is weak and does not nail you to your seat as an action movie. You can easily go open the door for the pizza delivery without stopping it and continue watching the movie without missing a thing.

In summary, if you had 2 options: 1) To watch this movie. Or 2) Go buy vegetables at the supermarket... I would choose option 2.
