Summary: A Favorite Foreign Film
Review: This is a new favorite of mine, especially in the way of foreign films. Even my action movie loving boyfriend enjoyed it... Not bad. I think it's the best Orient film I have seen yet. Its got a "Roots" kinda thing going on, but not as long and drawn out.

Summary: ANOTHER HOORAY FOR ZHANG YIMOU
Review: Similar to Raise the Red Lantern, this movie is absolutely stunning and magnificent. It will make you laugh, smile, cry, angry, etc. Although this occurred in China, it also illustrates how ordinary families go through trials and tribulations and how they grow close together over the years. Believe me, if you love Zhang Yimou's other movies, you have to see this one. I have never seen American movies as great as Zhang Yimou's To Live and Raise the Red Lantern.

Summary: A most awaited DVD release.
Review: The release of this movie in DVD form, if ever, will be one of life's greatest pleasures. What was it about this movie that was so enchanting and memorable? Was it the acting, the cinematography, the editing, the music (which, by the way, was VERY GOOD, the authenticity of the production, the visual impact, or was it "all of the above"? The director really proved his mettle in imprinting this heartwarming story on film---and hopefully, soon, if not, very soon, on videodisc!
