Summary: Intense
Review: This is an thrilling and intense love story with a very untraditional twist in the end. It had me intoxicated and dizzy with all the passion and chemistry that Graham and Fienes created.

Summary: FANTASTIC
Review: This is my new favorite movie! (...) I actaully caught it on Showtime one night, and was mesmerized by the storyline. It was unpredictable, the characters were interesting, and I couldn't stop watching. In fact, I stayed up until 1 am the next morning to watch it again. I'm even considering buying the DVD for a friend. See this movie. It won't disappoint.

Summary: waste of time
Review: This movie is a reason why I don't go to movie theater anymore. Hollywood should pay me for reviewing this bad movie. Call me my number is 156-38-3461.

Summary: softer than soft....
Review: to be perfectly honest, i really don't know why this film is unrated because the love scenes here are no kinkier nor anymore explicit than anything we've seen anywhere else before. think 9 1/2 weeks or basic instinct & you'll feel a bit cheated to say the very least. having said that, i do believe that heather graham & joseph fiennes have great chemistry together as smome have already mentioned & the film is definately an erotic thriller. is it a good film though? as much as i'd hate to admit it, killing me softly doesn't bring anything new to the surface of psychosexual thrillers even though both graham & fiennes do their best with the soggy script & dialogue they're given. the storyline is basically your average run-of-the mill plot which unravels rather quickly & the majority of it is totally predictable. although chen kaige is a marvelous director worthy of great praise, i don't think even he could make this film anything more than mediocre AT BEST. i will be generous as to give the film three stars for the obvious good performances, the nod to hitchcock's classic film "suspicion", & for chen kaige's attempt to give this tired formula somewhat of a boost. sad to say, the film really deserves no more than 2 1/2 stars altogether. supposedly based on a book by nicci french, i wonder somehow if the book isn't a more entertaining than the adaptation. if you love steamy & passionate thrillers, then i know nothing will stop you from seeing this film but you may want to think twice before purchasing to avoid major disappointments. try renting it from a store other than blockbuster where you see films as they are meant to be. that is, unsanitized & totally uncut. although i can't imagine very much need be trimmed in order to obtain the theatrical r-rating, most people will be interested in seeing killing me softly for the intense love scenes. for a more intellectual thriller with erotic overtones, i suggest & highly recommend in the cut with meg ryan which is a cut above killing me softly.

Summary: Heartless b*tch
Review: Two stars for Heather's almost-complete nudity, but that's about it. The way her character so callously jumped ship on her loving boyfriend to run to the arms of a mysterious stranger after just seeing him on the street is unforgivable.
That sort of storyline is not going to win any guys over, since she makes herself out to be very coldhearted from the get go, and it's a bad influence on women who might think this film glorifies and provides encouragement for that sort of wretched behavior.

She had a good life going for her, and fell prey to that typical female urge to ignore her comfortable existence and "see what else is out there", not realizing, as happens so often to many women, that she'll regret it for the rest of her life.
Note to women who may be considering such actions: it's not worth it. Open your eyes to how good you've really got it, and imagine how miserable you'll be when your plans fall through. You'll be left with nothing and no one.

Summary: I saw the R rated one on Showtime
Review: Well I have to say that the acting, lighting, and all that other technical jargin means nothing to me. I was up late one night and Killing Me Softly came on so I watched it. Lots of T&A!! That makes a movie. And if you liked Heather Graham's nude scenes in Boogie Nights, From Hell, and some other movies she's done you'll love the boobie shots here. And the sex scene, it goes up there with Showgirls infamous pool scene, which also is from the MGM/U.A. studios. Hey all I can say is if you're a perv, you'll enjoy this flick!!

Summary: Chen Kaige - On the Wild Side!
Review: Wow! wow! wow! If I could this entire review would be filled with the word wow! Here is a movie I wasn't to sure about. I had heard so much bad word-of-mouth. But, I NEVER like to pay attention to public opinion concerning movies.

"Killing Me Softly" is the American debut of Chen Kaige. One of my favorite modern filmmakers. And the movie stars Heather Graham, one of my favorite modern actresses. She has such an appealing presense onscreen. I find her so likeable in all the movies she's been in, even the ones I don't like. And often I feel that she's better than the movies she's appeared in. Movies like "Austin Powers 2", "Say It Isn't So!", & "Commited" I didn't like, but watch her in the Woody Allen-ish "Sidewalks of New York", "From Hell", and the Steve Martin comedy "Bowfinger". She is quite amusing.

"Killing Me Softly" is about an American in London. She is in an secure relationship with a man who loves her very much and even plans on marrying her. But, one day as fate would have it, she meets Adam (Joseph Fiennes). And soon an instant attraction follows. But, it does deeper than that. An affair begins.

Now does "Killing Me Softly" have loop holes? You bet! And plenty of them. The whole beginning of the movie may cause such confusion to some viewers they may not even want to finish watching it. For example, the way Alice and Adam meet is not handle well at all. The affair happens so quickly we are shocked! Hey, slow down there. And a scene dealing with marriage is campy and doesn't seem sincere. But, I gave the movie a chance and all of a sudden I was hooked. I managed to excuse all of it's faults. And when I just sat back and relaxed I found I enjoyed the picture.

Now, I don't mean to lead people on that everyone will enjoy this movie. Because I know they won't. One of the main reasons I enjoy the film is due to my admiration for Kaige and Graham. And some Kaige fans might not even like this movie because they will feel that Kaige is out of his range here. You see, for those who don't know, Kaige usually makes historical period pieces. Films like "The Emperor and the Assassin", "Temptress Moon" and "Farewell My Concubine". But, like I said, I guess I was blinded. And true filmbuffs will say that this movie is trying to become the new Saturday late night soft core porn version of Hichcock's "Suspicion". It does play around with the same ideas. So, only if your a diehard fan of Kaige and you like Graham do I suggest seeing this movie. Others I'm afraid won't like it. Now, all I have to do is see the "unrated version".

Bottom-line: Not one of Chen Kaige's best films, but an entertaining one nonetheless. Heather Graham as usually turns in a nice performance and the film does achieve some nice moments. Works mostly if your a fan of the star and the director.
