Review: Another reviewer has already said this, but it is worth repeating: this DVD version is heavily cut. It is not at all entertaining in this format. The best parts have been left out. Most of the erotic scenes end abruptly just when things are getting interesting. Very disappointing.

Review: I dont know which version I saw... Im sure it was the Nc-17... But anyways it was a wonderfull movie. It wasn't full of pathetic blondes with too much makeup and cant act, it had an interesting variety you NEVER see... It was perfect really. You won't regret getting this.

Summary: The original X rated in mainstream theaters was wonderful.
Review: I saw this film in the theater with my husband in 1976. It was advertised as a mainstream X-rated film that would appeal to woman. They were right. To this day, it is the best of this genre I've seen. But the previous reviewer says this NC-17 version is "spoiled" by the cuts, and we should look for the original X if we could get it. It certainly was not overly "hardcore." in my view.In any event, the one I saw, rated X, was outstanding. If anyone finds it in the original form, please let us know.

Review: If we had to pick the best erotic film ever (and we're glad we don't), this would be it! This film violates many of the conventions that hold back other erotic films. Rather than unbelieveably beautiful bodies and impossibly vigorous action, this film features erotic tension between several believable, attractive characters. What's more, it has one of the most important characteristics of any movie -- it ends at just the right time. (Interestingly, the same could be said of the film's subject!) If the bath scene doesn't stick with you for years after viewing this film (as it has for us), please check your pulse. Be sure to listen to the original, French soundtrack, because in addition to being the language of love, many of the voices of the actors add immeasurably to the eroticism of this film (particularly the young girl, Catherine Rivet).

Summary: Could do in a pinch....
Review: If you are a sex loving couple looking for some "lustful voyerism" before pounding each other silly...but you don't want the usual XXX (boring) porn...this may be a film for you.
It has all of the magic of the other, successful, mid-1970's Euro erotica films...the music is haunting and stays with you long after your last orgasim has been completed. I particularly enjoyed the theme of "a middle-aged couple" befriending a young, naive, 18 year old French girl.... and for what else? To de-flower her and then have 3-way sex with her while on vacation with her in Bali!
This film has serious female "bi-sexuality" in it....it portrays a theme I believe most middle aged women, in their hearts, truly desire. You get to see Emmanuelle passionately kissing and making love to a variety of men and women....all done very tastfully and erotically. As opposed to showing two totally naked people, baring their obscene "shaven" genitals and finally "spooing" all over each others faces.
I'd forgotten how many young women had beautiful pubic hair on their genitals, back in the 1970's...until you see this film...perhaps you had forgotten too. I recommend this film for "horny middle aged couples" whose wives are secretly "bi-sexual beasts" ready to drip all over the couch, while they watch beautiful French women masterbating or getting a nude bubble bath from many stunning, petite, Chinese bathhouse [...].
The only thing keeping me from rating this film 5 stars is the rather weak story line....and the toned down sexuality between the stars. If you want a little more sexual tension and realistic "S&M style" floggings, in your old Euro-porn films...try "The Story of O" or even better, "The Image"...Those are two 5 star recommendations.

This one is cut! And most disturbingly, the actual scenes for which you buy this film are missing!! Forget about it, go find yourself another movie...

Summary: I wonder did the original beat this!
Review: In this movie Sylvia Kristel (Emmanuelle) comes to Hong Kong to discover her sexual fantasies. There are enough nude scenes to get your mouth wet but there is always room for improvement. She does some things that will make your eyes open so this is not a terrible movie. I've seen Emmanuelle 4, and it is not good at all so all shoppers and collectors like myself should look at the first versions.

Review: In this sequel to Emmanuelle Silvia Kristel returns to the role she made her famous. The sex scenes are good enough to forget the first one but the storyline is so dumb that makes me feel sick. At least is much better than the sequels that go after.

Review: Perhaps this movie stands out for me, since I saw it as a doubleheader with Emmanuelle I in original movie release. Of the two, it was clearly the more sensual. Yes, there is sex, but clearly there is more sensuality. I have been in S.E.Asia, so I did make a connection (although my time was certainly not like that). The bathhouse scene certainly raises the temperature of the room, and perhaps other things.... This movie certainly captures the time when sex was guiltless and without any health concerns (pre AIDS). This movie certainly is not R rated, but does not have the hard edge that more explicit movies can have. Perhaps one can think of it as how sex could be in a hedonistic environment with no concern of any consequences. This is a good DVD to have in a collection of sensuality.
