Summary: ENTERTAINING ANGELS...
Review: "Do not forget to entertain strangers, for some people have entertained angels without knowing it." Hebrews 13:2

The world's three great religions incorporate angels as real, created entities, messengers between the world of mortals and God. And movies about angels, both good and bad, will always be messengers of film entertainment. Here's a new to DVD title about a good angel that's worthy of your time.

FAR AWAY, SO CLOSE! is the flip side to "Wings of Desire." Here, instead of desiring to be flesh and blood, the angel seeks to understand why humans have such a hard time experiencing the spiritual. These two films, taken together, offer a stunning and profoundly moving picture of the bittersweet, paradoxical and all-too-brief human experience. Both are of the highest order of mature filmmaking: intelligent, emotional, and visually stunning. They provide a memorable, meaningful and authentic experience about life's deepest mysteries. We are indeed spiritual beings having a human experience.

Summary: Not as good as "Wings of Desire", but still has charm
Review: "Faraway, So Close" is a sequel to a perfect movie so perfect that perhaps should have been left untainted by a sequel, however, it still captures the magical feel of "Wings of Desire", but this time with a pop-thriller feel.

It cruises along the border of body and mind, and follows the two intellectual angels that have been tackled with the dillema of reality versus eternity.

The film is lengthy and at times moves slow, but offers many interesting and thoughtfull moments, and it generally provokes many thoughts long after the movie's end. A must for Wenders fans. Since a sequel has already been made to WoD, perhaps master director Wenders can cook yet another chapter in the story, but one that captures the essence of Wings of Desire.

Summary: "Wings" it isn't!
Review: "Wings of Desire" is my favorite movie of all time. This sequel is not in the same league; it might be enjoyable entertainment, if you can keep your expectations low. However, I was disappointed.

Summary: faraway
Review: airheaded new age schtick. feel-good gobbledygook mixing philosophy, social consciousness, art cinema fetishes, international stars, history, noir, and whatnot. it tries to teach, illume, entertain, humor, and inspire. it also tries to be very hip. it just made me wanna puke.

Summary: Worth the price for the director's commentary alone
Review: Although I'd already seen the movie when it was released on VHS some years ago, I purchased this DVD because of the blurb on the back cover mentioning that it contained "Director Wim Wenders' Audio Commentary." It turned out to be just that: Wender's commentary overlaid throughout the full length of the movie. It was like being in the theater with Wender's sitting next to me, explaining every scene and regaling the listener with anecdotes about the movie, its actors, and his experiences as a director. It would be wonderful if more directors did this sort of thing; a feature uniquely suited to DVD's.

Summary: Wenders' finest film to date
Review: As wonderful as the body of Wenders' work is, this film is his tour de force. He out does himself with this movie. True, to fully appreciate it, you must first see "Wings of Desire," but this is the superior Wenders film. Treat yourself to this glorious movie....

Summary: Una estupenda película

Tomando "City of Angels" como referencia, considero a "Faraway, So Close" mejor por mucho.
