Summary: This movie is hilarious!
Review: This movie is hilarious and it makes me laugh just thinking about it. All I can say is "We may be going to BROADWAY"!

Summary: "A penny for your thoughts" - I LOVE you Corky!
Review: Get me on the first train to Blaine

Summary: I reckon I'm in love!
Review: Watching this movie becomes a compulsion -- it simply gets funnier with each viewing. Be sure to watch it with others, so you can bounce lines off one another for days afterward. You won't be able to help it. If you can't get a laugh out of this, seek help. Christopher Guest outdid himself.

Summary: THE Cult Classic of 1998....and Forever
Review: WAITING FOR GUFFMAN has entered the pantheon of those special comedies you watch over and over with your friends until it becomes part of your lives. Many people I know are going nuts over this film. It's a must own, 'cause it's one of those ones (like WITHNAIL & I and AUSTIN POWERS) that gets better every time you see it - even on the 20th viewing! (THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY is going to enter this category now that it's out on video but I can't call a movie that did $170 million at the box office a "cult film"!) Just make sure you see this movie - watch it with someone you love. Fans of SPINAL TAP and SCTV are especially in for a treat. Classic!

Summary: Oops, I made a mistake
Review:

I goofed. At the end of the movie, Corky is touting "My Dinner with Andre" action figures, not lunchboxes.

Other Guffmanphiles, please forgive the faux pax!

Summary: I have not stopped laughing!
Review:

I saw this movie in a theatre. I immediately ordered it for my collection. From the very first scene with the Blaine's City Council trying to figure out where to put the port-a-potties and the sniper until the final scene with Corky in the gift shop touting "My Dinner with Andre" lunchboxes, there is not a dull moment.

If there is a funnier line in cinema than, "...I'll just go home and bite my pillow," I haven't heard it.

I've seen the movie dozens of times, and I never fail to laugh until I cry. I'm from a very small town and I serve on the City Council, so you can imagine how funny it all seems....especially the play, and the UFO's, and the museum, and the Dairy Queen, and, well, just all of it.

Buy this movie and enjoy satire and humor at its very, very best!

Summary: The only movie I've HAD to own! I can't stop watching it!
Review: If there is anything at all depressing about this movie, it's that you want more. Somewhere hours and hours of this brilliant improvisation sit unseen, and I must "settle" for the pleasures of the most enjoyable 84 minutes of film-making ever.

The cast is incredible, led by Guest's brilliant portrayal of Corky. Posey, Willard, O'Hara, Levy all have their moments, but the best supporting role is no-name Michael Hitchcock, the "councilman/pharmacist" whose worship of Corky is responsible for some of the biggest laughs in the film.

Never has another movie come around that I've needed to see more than a couple of times - with Guffman, I'm in the upper teens, and it keeps getting funnier. Each time I watch, I have a new favorite line, but Corky's entranced delivery of "I was shopping for my wife Bonnie, I buy most of her clothes..." could stand up to any.

I'll occassionally confound (OK, frighten) co-workers by blurting out lines from the movie. They think I'm crazy, but I know the truth. Christopher, if you're ever peeking at our comments, do us a favor and open the archives. I'd be "happy as Mongoose."

Summary: Leonard Maltin is Oh So Wrong!
Review: Take the Maltin review OFF this page- what can he mean, this "didn't merit a feature-length film"?!? Saw it in the theater, and the audience laughed continuously 'til the end. Too bad there aren't more films like this one!

Summary: HILARIOUS!
Review: There's really nothing more I can add that others haven't already written. This is about the funniest movie ever made. I've seen it several times and everytime it ends I feel a little sadness, like I'm leaving a group of friends I've grown to love. The only thing that bugs me is that it still isn't out on DVD! It would be a great opportunity to see all the footage that didn't make it into the film.

A COMIC MASTERPIECE!

Summary: A MUST FOR ANYONE INVOLVED IN COMMUNITY THEATRE!!!!
Review: This is one of the funnier movies I've ever seen and I readily agree with the other reviewers who advise that this flick will have you laughing off your seat! And - if you're involved in community theater (or theatre), you will recognize people you have auditioned or worked with over the years!
