Summary: Corky is a Hit
Review: Waiting For Guffman is the best movie ever. My whole family has watched this movie more times than any of us can count. Every time we watch it it just keeps getting more hilarious. We love all the actors. We love Christopher Guest who plays Corky St.Clair ("everybody dance"). We love Parker Posey who plays a dairy queen worker("i've been thinking about what i could do with ice cream..."). We especially love Eugene Levy who plays Dr.Pearl("you have to go where the love is, and for me the love is in Miami"). And we love all the other hilarious actors in this movie.But the one thing we love most are the classic songs- "Stool Boom", "A Penny For Your Thoughts", and "Boring, Boring". We love the movie, it made us laugh, it made us cry, but mostly it made us laugh.

Review: "Do you want us to strike it? We've done shows before, so we know all the terms." Sigh. How can you not love Ron and Sheila? And Dr. Pearl, oh my god. "People ask me if I was the class clown, and I say 'no, I wasn't the class clown, but I sat near him, and I studied him.'" If you don't love this movie the first time through, watch it a second time PLEASE. It takes a little getting used to but you WILL get hooked. "This is the DAY OF THE SHOW, y'all."..."I can't hear you. Why can't you just speak in a normal voice?"...and one of my favorites, Larry Miller as the mayor: "That whole thing."

Review: I would have to say that this is my favorite movie. No one can say that they have watched this movie and then didn't like it. It is a masterpiece. It is just so typical of a community theatre, it's scary. Christopher Guest is brilliant as Corky St. Claire. You will laugh at every single "Corkism." They are all Hilarious. I personally love, "Because you're ... People!" I would have to say that Catherine O'Hara is my second favorite. Oh my goodness is she ever the best! You will be rolling in the floor at her "Less is more" demonstration. And her hair is a trip. I LOVE PARKER POSEY. These two actress are so under rated. They are soooooooo talented. Parker Posey will be the next Carol Burnett and Catherine has already permanatley established herself as a Hollywood Actress. I love Parker talking about the "D.Q." and "New York is really just a big Island. With a lot of different people...Guys..." She is wonderful. The people that make this movie are the little people. Everyone is so totally colorful and vivacious, it just makes you want to see more when the show is over. SO, SHOULD YOU BUY THIS MOVIE? HECK YEAH! IT IS THE BEST MOVIE IN THE WORLD!

Review: "Come in and get a coke if you're thirsty...Why don't you talk like a normal person!...I'm just gunna' go home bit my pillow, that's what I'm going to do!...Dartaniun, don't you talk to me like that, you...and smack em'."...Need i say more. This masterpiece will live forever. How many movies can you view a hundred times and be all the more satistfied. A must see for all thesbians. AHHHHH, i can't say enough. Words do not justify "Guffman." "You can still feel the heat."

Summary: An awesome rare type of comedy
Review: When I first saw this movie, I had no idea what to think. It was just plain funny! The movie is pretty much a satire on all community theater. It's about a town called Blain and it's 500th anniversity. The town's drama director decides to write a historical play about how the town of Blain became the way it is now. The whole movie is in sort of a documentary style with interviews of different citizens of the town and it all turns out just hillarious! I serously recomend this movie to anybody with a wide sence of humor. It truely is hillarious!

Review: This is what director 'Corky St Claire' has the NERVE to say, congratulating himself on the progress of his self-penned show, 'Red, White and Blaine'. This 'mockumentary' is THE FUNNIEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN! It has it's own 'groove', and once you get onto the Guffman wave-length, you soon become an addict! Christopher Guest delivers his finest performance ever as small town Blaine's resident 'creative type', a tubby, autocratic drama teacher with 'off-off Broadway' experience. The fictional town of Blaine is so 'small town' that the fact that Corky is obviously gay never enters their thoughts; he's 'creative' (and 'from New York'!) The supporting cast, however, are in danger of stealing the movie from under his feet! Parker Posey is pathetically delightful as 'Libby Mae', a Dairy Queen employee who dreams of hitting Broadway so she can "meet Italian guys". Also praisworthy are the characters of "Ron" and "Sheila", a married couple of zero-talents who "Corky" dubbs 'The Lunts of Blaine'. Yet the real prize has to go to Eugene Levy as "Dr Pearl", the local dentist who lands a starring role in 'Red, White and Blaine'. "Dr Pearl" fancies himself as a comedian ("At family functions, I love breaking people up.") and Levy SOMEHOW manages to be hilariously funny playing a character who TRIES to be funny - and ISN'T! Anyone who has ever been involved with local theatre on any level whatsoever will ADORE this movie! Not only does it take a playful stab at Middle America, it ALSO pokes fun at the documentary genre itself (those tense close-ups, those hand-held cameras!) The cleverest, most intelligent comedy in years - 'Waiting for Guffman' has become a cult movie, and quite rightly!

Summary: Review for Waiting for Guffman
Review: I enjoyed this "Moc-U-Mentary". Although I probably never would have opted to see it on my own (seen in a college classroom setting), I really did enjoy it. I thought that the characters were funny and played out very well by the actors. I would have to say my favorite character was the choreographer/director of the play. Also, despite the fact that the towns-people participating in the production were clueless as to their lack of talent, the outcome of the play was great!

Summary: Some pretty good Acting Skills
Review: Waiting for Guffman had it moments. To say the least, it was funny to see all the characters get in to their parts. None of them had talent at all. Even the director, Corky St. Claire, lacked much talent. But all they characters had enthusiasm and really made the documentary funny at times. The best part of the film was the play itself. I finally got to see the end product of all their hard work. This is not a documentary that I would highly recommend you run out and get, but if you are in the mood for some dry humor, then I would say you should spend an hour in a half watching it. It will make you laugh.

Summary: Waiting For Guffman
Review: Waiting for Guffman is a film that many people can enjoy. It is hilarious at times, and makes people laugh at simple, tasteful jokes. The film is centered around several individuals living in a small town who audition for a play. To say the least, none of the people trying out have any talent. In fact, their lack of talent seems to make them all the more desirable to the play's directors, Corky St. Claire and a local band leader. Though the film is a comedy, it reveals more information about society than many people may realize. The cast of characters range from a Jewish dentist to a gay theatrical producer. These characters are portrayed in a stereotypical fashion sometimes, but their purpose is to make viewers laugh at their small, unimportant differences and appreciate diversity. The film forces all of the characters to overcome any such obstacles, and present their play to an audience of their peers. In the end, the film does a successful job of making veiwers laugh, as well as making them question prejudices that they encounter in life.
