Summary: extrodinary view of life...as it is..
Review: i first came in contact with this movie when i was about five years old..the only thing that i can remember clearly is the music... when i saw this movie for the first time i didnt understan anything..i thought it was horrible...but when i saw it again i realized what a great movie it was...it gave me a new perspective on the nature and life..., how much the human race is destroying our beatiful world.. , anyone who see this movie must realize that we must stop destoying our world... but unfortunatly it seems that not so many have seen it...becasue it's getting worse for every day... i hope one day people will open their eyes and see the reality...

Summary: Koyaanisqatsi
Review: It is truly sad that one of the most powerful and important statements about the flaws in economic evolution and progress, has become virtually non-existent. Please, please, please, do the world a favour and release this film on DVD. A "must see" for fans of BARAKA.

Summary: My Favorite Music and Film!
Review: I already have the CD (both versions), the VHS, and I can't decide if I should order the DVD-AUDIO version now, or wait for the DVD-Video version to come out. (Yes the DVD-Audio-only version is out on dvdempire and (they claim) it sounds twice as good as the CD. Oh, I forgot to mention, I also saw this live several years ago with Philip Glass and heard he will do it again when the DVD is released.

Summary: Even good when you're not tripping
Review: I remember coming home from a daylong concert in 1987 after somebody spiked my beer with LSD. I was still flying and turned on the tube. PBS was showing Koyaanisquatsi and really affected me. But I wondered if it was so good just because I was tripping. So I recorded it and watched it sober and it was even better. I'm still not as thrilled with the repetitious monotony of some of Philip Glass' music as some folks, but it fit the movie, especially the scenes in New York City. It was brilliance to set the cacophony and hurriedness of NYC against the simple beauty of the desert Southwest. I think this movie is a great lesson in how environment can change the attitudes of people. I don't believe the director was trying to point to the ugliness of the modern world because there were some scenes of the man-made world that were beautiful. But I do think that the 'life out of balance' theme resounds with the faces of the people who looked so unhappy. Also I think that it underscores man's effects on the environment as inconsequential in the grand design. (Sounds like I'm still high, Huh?) Watch the film and see for yourself. Those who are bored with the film, and there are few, just can't seem to get a grasp what it's trying to say but those who watch it intently usually will place it in their top 5 of all films

Summary: Best movie with no plot ever.
Review: Watching movies doesn't have to mean watching different shots. Reggio's camera records the same view for sometimes days at a time, but the film never stops moving. Excellent soundtrack and amazing visuals.

Summary: What will it take?
Review: I watched this video on PBS many years ago and have been trying to get a copy for the last five years. It is so awesome, that it's difficult to believe that it is no longer produced on VHS for USA consumers while it is available in other formats in other countries. I can only imagine how good this presentation of images and sound will be on DVD!

Koyaanisqatsi was added to the National Film Registry in December 2000. It should be available for consumers, and soon.

Summary: Maybe Just Luck
Review: I was already a Philip Glass fan when koyaanisqaatsi was shown on HBO or something.. (dont call me..the tapes about worn out) When the Powers that Be get their heads out of the dark place they will find that this and powaaqattsi will be a big seller on dvd

Summary: studio bs...
Review: the people who brought you koyaanisqatsi and the one that followed are going to release Naqoyqatsi the third and, to my understanding, final installment in this series. im guessing that they will all be released again on dvd or at least vhs when the Naqoyqatsi (war life) film picks up some steam and the people with the suits will be getting the most money... so hold out til 2002 when the Naqoyqatsi Odyssey will begin.

Summary: KOYAANISQATSI - make the DVD please!
Review: I saw Koyaanisquatsi as a teenager in the mid 80's, on a public television station, quite by chance. I was flipping through the channels when the time-lapse photography caught my eye. I didn't know what I was watching, but as I continued to watch it became apparent that this was much more than just a collection of neat-o film clips. It contained a message about the earth and man's effect on it...but more than that it really conveyed a feeling of tremendous interconnectedness... By the end of the film I was very moved and impressed and vowed that one day I would have a copy of the film for myself so I could show others. Since then DVD's have become popular, and I can't imagine a more fitting film for the format. With digital sound for the music, and a crystal-clear picture for the great satilite shots, it's a beautiful thing. Who makes these decisions whether or not to release an old film on DVD? And to that person/group: What are you thinking? RELEASE KOYAANISQUATSI ON DVD!

Summary: A must see!
Review: A powerful yet beautiful film. Although, there is no dialogue in the film (just music and pictures), its message is very clear. The many facets of this film shows the many good things about life on earth that went wrong through stunning visuals and an eloquent yet haunting soundtrack by Phillip Glass.

It may be already out on video but not yet released on DVD. I would highly recommend this one to anyone!
