Summary: The Classic Comedy
Review: Okay, I know I've only given it four stars. You see, it's not that I don't like Fawlty Towers. I agree, it's a rare comedy that survives so long, and is still funny. It's just that I've seen these all so many times now, that it's kind of like looking at a photo of a favourite place.

You see a clip, you know the episode instantly, you know the jokes instantly. If you watch the episode, you know what will happen. Yes, it is funny. Yes, there are episodes that I'll watch again, but there are still moments that I'll hit the fast forward on, there are still scenes which I find embarrasing (for some reason).

This means that the entire series collection becomes more of a monument than a watchable purchase. It is a classic. I don't know of a series that ended just at the right time like this did, that retains its charm even now. I do sing its praises...it's just that I can't watch them like I used to.

Summary: A complete set of Comical Brilliance and Wit !
Review: The wit and comical imagination of John Cleese is unsurpassed and this work proves it. This collection of series offer us timeless comedy to enjoy over and over again. In fact, the more times viewed, the more times you will laugh and understand the idiosincracies of all the characters. This hotel of horrors out does the Bates Motel! What amazes me is that the main character Basil Fawlty (the ???? Hotel Owner) is composed of John Cleese's creative imagination but one thinks that there can be and are some stressed out people out there that he represents! If you enjoy British comedy, this is one of the best. If you want to give the British Satirical, Dry, Sledgehammer Witted, Slap in your Face, Intelligent humor a try, you cannot miss with this one.

Summary: Nobody Does it Better
Review: I used to watch these in the 70's. John Cleese is the best there ever was. Try the Black Adder for some additional laughter.

Summary: Funny, Funny - A must for John Cleese fans
Review: These tapes which contain all the Fawlty Towers episodes and interviews with John Cleese are a must for your comedy video collection. There is nothing better.

Summary: Classic Cleese
Review: To give you an idea of just how loyal and popular this classic comedy series fan base is, last year my wife found me a 1998 Fawlty Towers calander to hang in my office. How many other shows that have been out of production for 20 years can boast that? My favorite episode is "The Psychiatrist". If you don't laugh when Basil climbs the ladder and taps the window, have someone check you for a pulse. If you like this type of British comedy, check out "Chef" starring Lenny Henry. Both series are a must for your library.

Summary: overRated!
Review: I'm sorry, but Fawlty Towers was at best a mindless sitcom. Characterization, plot, and even setting were a bare minimun as Cleese mugged his way to cheap laughs. It's funny for about three minutes and after that the same joke over and over just gets tired.

Summary: the best! the best!
Review: If I was trapped on a desert island and could only bring one british comedy, this would be it. Fawlty towers is probably the best british comedy ever made- and it gets better with repeated viewings. I dont know why John Cleese hasnt been knighted for this... I hope someday he does.

Summary: British Humour(!) at its best!!!!!
Review: A classic British comedy!!! John Clesse and Connie Booth (husband and wife at the time) created an extraordinary series of comedy shows (12 in all) based on the antics of the "hotel manager from hell" -- Basil Fawlty -- his wife and staff at a fictional hotel on the English Riviera. Filmed in the 1970s, it is brilliantly written and performed. It is hysterical and gets funnier everytime we watch it!! All cast members are superb and funny in their own right; however, John Cleese is simply sensational as the bumbling, paranoid, rude, yet witty Fawlty. Buy this video and enjoy it often!!!!

Summary: There is nothing better
Review: Everything everyone's said already goes double for me. Whenever I feel down, I can watch Fawlty Towers and it brings me up instantly. John Cleese should win the Nobel Prize for television.
