Summary: watch A Bugs Life instead
Review: A Bugs Life squashes Antz by a long shot. It's not much of a story (the same, a nothing of an ant and a princess, jee I wonder what's gonna happen.) Sure A Bugs Life does that too but they have fun along the way. Antz is just about ants, no creative characters at all . I'm a big fan of Woody Allen and others in Antz but it seems they wanted to get the movie over with.In Antz the setting is dark, in A Bugs Life it's bright and colorful. Antz is not a real family movie. Watch A Bugs Life with the whole family, it's rated G. While you're at it watch all the Pixar movies... they are the best.

Summary: Witty & Amusing
Review: Clever adult version of a Bug's Life, which came out around the same time.

Summary: not really for kids
Review: we rented this in hopes of finding a cute kids movie (since we heard so much about it) and were very dissapointed. if you want a good kids movie, get 'a bug's life', but steer clear of this one if you've got kids. the language and innuendoes and the fact that woody allen does one of the voices (well overrated as an actor) and you've got animated adult entertainment.
funny for adults, too much for kids.

Summary: Not as great as Bug's Life but still a great one
Review: This is one fantastic animation and the voices of Woody Allen, Sharon Stone, Sylvester Stallone, Gene Hackman, and Jennifer Lopez help to make it even better.

If you already own Bug's Life get this one too else, get Bug's Life before you buy this one.

Summary: Ant-Z Hall
Review: Once again, Woody Allen begins this movie in a New York City psychiatrists office questioning life... But this time, he's an animated ant. This film appeared in theatres a couple months before rival studios superior animated insect film, A BUGS LIFE. That is not to say that ANTZ is without merit. It is a darker film filled with distress and humor written above the little one's heads. In the end, good prevails (Shoulda warned you about the spoiler) and the message is simple, DREAMWORKS and DISNEY must try to live together instead of eliminating each other. The spectacular DVD comes loaded which takes the hour and a half film and turns it into an eight hour movie workshop.

Summary: Interesting CGI animation film.
Review: Uneven but entertaining movie about a lone ant (voiced by Woody Allen) who falls in love with the Queen Ant's daughter and comes to the aid of the ant colony when it's threatened by an armoy of termites, and an ant army general who wants more then just command of the army. Good fun for parents and kids.

Summary: Antz Is A Great Movie!
Review: Z (Allen) is an ant who has never felt comfortable in his life. Life as an ant is always the same thing, move this piece of dirt, feed that pupae. Where's the excitement, where's the creativity, where's the variety? Z lives in a massive underground ant colony, but he only dreams of leaving, which is exactly what he does, seeking out his fortune in the world outside the life of day-to-day ants.

When Princess Bala (Stone) decides to "slum it", she chooses Z to dance with, and Z falls for her completely. Hoping to impress her, Z trades places with his soldier friend, Weaver (Stallone) and ends up going to war against the termites and becoming a war hero. From there, the movie takes several turns as Z and Princess Bala end up on the lamb out in the world outside the colony, pursued by General Mandible's (Hackman) forces led by Colonel Cutter (Walken). Once outside, Z is driven in his search for the mysterious Insectopia...

Rounding out the cast are Jennifer Lopez as Z's "worker girl" friend, Anne Bancroft as the Queen, Danny Glover as Barbatus, a veteran soldier who befriends Z, and Ackroyd and Curtin as two W.A.S.P.-ish wasps.

Summary: Put down the Raid...
Review: If you love computer animation, get this movie! One of the first I bought for my DVD collection. (Bugs life was next) It was an entertaining movie in general but the quality of animation and background art in places will leave you watching it with your jaw dropped open.

Summary: ok; but nothing more!
Review: When one compares this movie, i.e., Antz~ Sharon Stone with Disney and Pixars A bugs life then one ends up feeling disappointed on many levels. First the animation is not as well done. The plot is not strong and the conversation between the characters seems forced and Woody Allen's performance is irritating. He, i.e., Mr. Allen, is not a good actor (he is vastly overrated, he always stars in weird movies and plays neurotic characters that talk and talk and end up saying nothing of significance; this quality or trait is unfortunately present in the "hero" of the movie and makes it painful to listen to any of the spoken dialogue) and this shows in his lack of understanding of the art of animation. He thinks that he is the star of the movie, which is not how it works when one sees an animated movie. A bugs life was cute, funny and had an excellent score, whilst Antz ends up being incoherent, annoying, lousy music (whomever selected the songs should have been canned) and an ending that did not make sense.
