Summary: I think it's safe to say that...
Review: DISNEY has finally come to their senses!!! I am an avid DVD collector (200+) and I do not own a single Disney-animated DVD. Why? For years, people have been begging Disney to put their massive catalog on DVD. Disney obliged and the resulting DVDs were horrible- nothing more than inadequate upgrades from their previous VHS format. Simply put, their presentation in the ever-so-popular DVD format was RIDICULOUSLY skimpy (in terms of bonus features)!!! Do you remember the 9-DVD box set they put out in 1999 for $300? They called it "The Classic Disney DVD Collector's Set!" HA!! It was a box of tripe! The box was anything BUT "classic." It included none of the memorable DVDs of days gone by. FAST FORWARD 2 YEARS...they have sold millions of "bare-bone" DVDs and now are re-re-re-re-re-releasing them to the public...in a format they should've been in initially! Either Disney purposely planned to MILK MILLIONS from their customer base or someone threw a brick upside their heads- finally making them comes to their senses. Whatever the case, the latter case being said in EXTREME sarcasm, Disney is finally starting to release QUALITY DVDs.

The PLATINUM 2-DISC edition of Snow White is a must have for everyone. The picture and sound on both discs are flawless. The sound on each disc is THX certified and has been remixed in Dolby Digital 5.1 (English & French). Also, BOTH DISCS have a truckload of features including rare newsreel footage from the premiere, an insightful look at the restoration process, archaic featurettes and original trailers! WAY TO GO DISNEY! This set is truly worth every penny! My only hope is that Disney will continue to do this with future titles and re-re-re-re-re-release all of the classics (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, etc.). PRE-ORDER/BUY THIS TODAY!!!

Disney's first full length animated masterpice and Acadamy Award Winner finally comes to DVD with digitally remastered picture and 5.1 surround! The Special Features are great. Disney obviously spared no expense on this DVD. This is the start of Disney's "Platinum Collection" wich will release one Disney film on DVD each year! The 10 most loved animated classics including "Beauty and the Beast", "101 Dalmations", "The Jungle Book", "The Lion King", "The Little Mermaid", "Lady And the Tramp", "Aladdin", "Cinderella", and more! "Snow White" is the classic fairy tale about a young princess who is forced out of her home and lives among 7 dwarves in a cottage in the woods. When her evil step-mother, the queen, poisons her with an apple, she can only be awakened by loves first kiss! The music is great! The animation is remarkable even by today's standards! Review: It looks like Disney has gone all out for this DVD edition. SW&7D is most certainly a classic. I could do without the Barbara Streisand stuff however.

Summary: Disney's first classic
Review: A rational review of this movie might go something like this: In spite of it's historical importance Snow White is now hopelessly outdated and insulting to women who are more than capable of being doctors, scientists and lawyers. In fact, in a world where the girls watching it now have a 50-50 chance of eventual divorce, it's "Someday my prince will come" mentality is downright harmful.

There seems to be several things to say in response to this. The first is that it's true to an extent. The second is that we are, after all, now in Once Upon a Time Land - and even doctors, scientists and lawyers can still dream about finding their true loves. Have a discussion about Snow White's other options if the 1930s mentality bothers you - but don't give up on it completely. It has too much to offer.

There's the animation - perhaps not always precision perfect but still gorgeous, perfectly evocative of a fairy tale world and deserving of a legitimate ranking alongside Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast. There's the music - song for song the greatest score in any Disney film. There's the Seven Dwarfs, who set the high water mark for all animated second bananas to follow. And, finally, there's the Queen. A vision of pure evil, perhaps only Sleeping Beauty's Maleficent can match her in the villain's pantheon.

For these reasons, it is still a masterpiece that will stand the test of time and transcend society's changes.

Summary: I guess it's good
Review: Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs is Disney's first full-length feature, as I'm sure many already know. In fact, I think Snow White was the first movie I ever saw. It's a pretty good movie, considering it's age (1937). The animation is top-notch as is the voice acting. Probably the best Disney movie ever.

Summary: The one that started it all
Review: This was the first full length technicolor animated movie and is in this reviewers opinion Disney's finest hour. It begins in the now time honoured (and recently brilliantly parodied in Shrek!)fashion with a beautiful bejewelled fairy tale book opening and the pages magically turning as the tale unfolds. The camera pans through multiplane layers of foliage and onto the castle home of our heroine the lovely Snow White and her stepmother the Wicked Queen. The Queen mounts the steps to her Magic Mirror, conjures up the Golem like Slave of the said Mirror and intones the usual question"Who now is the Fairest of them all?". When the Queen learns that Snow White is now No#1 Fairest you can just tell from the expression on her face that trouble is brewing !! Poor Snow is now kept a virtual prisoner in her late Father's castle and made a servant by the Stepmom from Hell !! When the Prince Charming visits Snow White at the Wishing Well they're seen by the Evil Queen. Holding a state of the Art Deco jewelled casket the Queen, eyes glinting, orders the Huntsman to "Bring back her heart in this" The Huntsman cannot go through with it and urges our heroine to run and hide in the forest.Rushing through the scary forest full of clutching trees and alligator like vines Snow White sprawls out and the staring eyes turn out to be the forest animals watching her plight. They lead her to the Dwarfs Cottage , where she sets about cleaning up. When the dwarfs come back from their diamond mine they are taken aback to discover lights on in their home and decide to confront the imaginary monster. You know the rest! There are some stand out scenes - the transformation of my favourite Disney villainess the magnificent Wicked Queen into the Peddlar Woman aka the Old Witch. The sophisticated angles used in this sequence recall the similarly angled shots used in the Creation of the Bride in James Whale's Bride of Frankenstein. The Dwarfs Mine which provides our introduction to the now familiar Seven little men is another lovely scene with each characters foibles picked out. Little Dopey most children's ( and adult's too !! )favourite Dwarf has a nice moment when clearing up the discarded diamonds and other jewels he pops two of the jewels into his eyes much to Doc's annoyance. Finally after the splendid cross cutting Poisoned Apple will she won't she eat the Apple sequence - when the Witch is cornered by our heroes and it looks as if they might have their bones crushed the lightening saves the day and our old Crone's former helpmates the Vultures disappear into the mists to feed upon her!! What delights me about this movie is that is is redolent with a thirties feel. The characters of Snow White and her rather fey prince are pure ingenue Janet Gaynor and matinee idol actor Charles Farrell. Our seven heroic friends are all sort of music hall/burlesque stooges and funny characters, no doubt with mannerisms of the other thirties movie comedians. The Queen a blend of vampish Marlene Dietrich and power dressed Joan Crawford . In other words far from being timeless it is set in the thirties period but without the silly clever knowing manner of modern intentionally anachronistic Disney animated pre sold packaged output. In short it has bags of charm - something this studios modern ouevre almost completely lacks. Whatever you do buy this classic - you and your family will enjoy it for years to come and in a format that makes the very best of Disney's Fairest of them all come to life anew !!

Disney's telling of SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS is the definitive version of this enchanting tale. In a faraway land a young princess lives, whose blossoming beauty disturbs her stepmother, the Queen. Each day the Queen asks her mysterious magic mirror to tell her "who is the fairest of them all." When the mirror replies with Snow White's name, the evil Queen sets out to slay Snow White, but the young girl flees into the forest. There, she meets the Seven Dwarfs, who hide her as best they can. When the Queen tricks Snow White into eating a poison apple all seems lost, until a handsome Prince arrives to awaken Snow White and to live with her "happily ever after." Disney's animated version of the classic fairy tale is the definitive version for generations of families. At long last, the legendary film that started it all for Disney, SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS, makes history again with its long-awaited debut on Disney DVD and return to home video.

Summary: Snow White
Review: This movie was one I enjoyed when I was younger. The animation is extremely bright, colorful and well-done. Disney did an excellent job on the artwork, unlike the work you will find in their current films ("The Emporer's New Groove" or "Hercules"). The story is well-adapted from the original. It entertains little children with the interesting characters, such as the dwarves, and plenty of lively songs. If you have kids, this video is a must!

Summary: Genial y pionera de una nueva era
Review: Since this is Spanish version of the title, I'll write my review in Spanish as well: Creo que esta es simplemente maravillosa y magica por ser la pionera en una nueva forma de comunicar: los dibujos animados a color.
