Summary: One of the greatest sagas of all time.
Review: This saga starts out as a simple quest for seven dragonballs. Including all of the dbz gang. At first it seemed slow, then as new faces entered the sceen. The Namek Saga, became more than just a quest for the Dragonballs. All of the people on planet Namek fought for their lives. Where the biggest villan in dbz history arrives. Freiza, is probably my favorite bad guy. Mearly because in the Namek Saga, he is a very calm, and very creepy type of villan. The Ginyu Force, was also a brilliant team. Which were evil Freiza's hench men. The Namek Saga, ended with such a teaser, that you could stand waiting for the next episode. Personally I think that the Namek Saga was unlike anything I'd seen in a dbz series. Just the way everyone on planet Namek, found out all about the Nameks. Also the way that every one grew so strong, and their power levels were so incredible. The very last episode, was where Goku was just arriving on planet Namek, and this is when I got a big case of the goosebumps. Goku had been training at 100 times earth's normal gravity. So he obviously was going to arrive the thrill of the Saga. I would recomend this Saga to anyone who is interested with Dragonballz.

Summary: Too bad we ain't in Japan!
Review: I have seen this series with the origional japanese dialogue, and needless to say this english version is a far cry from the intensity of the orgionals. Did you know there are well over two hundred fifty episodes to this series? I cannot remember exactly how many... all I know is I want every last one- uncut and uncensored! The voices for Gohan, Kurillin, and Vegita in the english version are pathetic. Episodes are missing from the Namek Saga and, quite frankly, it is a shame. I would like to see the whole set, unabridged and not tainted by censorship. Dragonball Z is a violent series, much like Fist of the North Star... with comedy. As to when FUNinamtion will get off its rear and give us hungry DBZ fans what we really want (everything, of course) and not give us this non-fat version... who knows? They should stop treating this like a kid's show and treat it the way it was meant to be treated. Oh, by the way... did anyone know there is another Dragonball series after Dragonball Z? As slow as FUNimation is with getting the episodes out, it probably won't reach american shores until 2003. It's a crying shame...

Summary: Be warned! These are the edited dub episodes!
Review: INTRODUCTION:
Dragon Ball Z was the follow-up to Akira Toriyama's surprisingly successful Dragon Ball series. Although his first installment of the classic series was more of an adventure-comedy type series, the Z series pretty much focused entirely on sci-fi martial arts action - which makes the Z series far superior to its superior. The series has become popular all around the world, and it's no surprise that a box set of the first season was released here in the States. Read on for my review of the Namek Saga box set.

BASIC PLOT:
The story for the Frieza Saga, the second of four major sagas that make up Dragon Ball Z, goes something like this. Many of the Z fighters died fighting against the Saiyans, so the surviving members of the crew decide to make a mission to Namek, the planet where the Dragon Balls originated (since they are sure to have another set there.) They arrive on the planet only to discover the horrible truth - Vegeta is also there searching for the balls! And that's the LEAST of their troubles! Frieza, an ultra-strong warrior with a huge army, is ALSO looking for them! And Frieza is even STRONGER than Vegeta! And to make matters worse, Goku won't be arriving on planet until a week after Krillin, Gohan, and Bulma! Will the Z crew be able to defeat Frieza and get the Dragon Balls to wish their friends back to life?

EPISODE/DVD OPINIONS:
When you do anime DVDs, it's an unwritten rule that the DVDs include both an uncut English dub version and an uncut Japanese version with English subtitles. AND ALL THESE DVDS HAVE IS THE EDITED DUB! I admit, the voice actors FUNimation hired for the dub version all do the voices of their respective characters well (all except for Frieza's and Vegeta's (Frieza is supposed to sound like a black guy, not a little old lady!)), but the dialogue is too inaccurate and Americanized. Also, a good deal of footage was cut (in particular from the scene where Dodoria attacks the Namek soldiers.) And needless to say, the violence was reduced so that the series could be aired on American television stations. But the greatest flaw of all is that this set is horribly incomplete - it only contains the FIRST HALF of the Frieza saga! This, my friends, is NOT the Dragon Ball Z real fans want.

OVERALL:
My advice is NOT to purchase this set. I recently heard that Pioneer will lose their rights to the older episodes of the series soon, and when they do, FUNimation will redub the episodes, and hopefully rerelease them on DVD with the original Japanese version intact. So hold off and see if that happens.

Goku is in the hospital and Gohan, Krillin, and Bluma decide to find the dragon balls on Namek. After having alittle bit of trouble in space they finally end up on namek. There they find freeza and his gang torturing the nameks and are on the same quest to find the dragon balls. Goku finally heels and is able to join them on there quest. Vegeta also is heeled and finds out that freeza is also after the dragon balls to he rushes to namek too. Now krillin, bulma, and Gohan have to deal with freeza, and vegeta. Goku hurry up and get your butt to namek as soon as possible. This box set is only in english. A great item. A must have for all DBZ fans.

Summary: DBZ Hacked to death!
Review: First off when I first saw DBZ in the middle of the saiyan saga I thought it as nothing more then a sailor moon type cartoon. Yet that is far from the case DBZ is one of the best show ever but this has been hacked away at too much. Its sad really and I think if you really want the full story and action that DBZ can give then buy the manga.

Summary: Horrible Junk
Review: Please, this dubbed anime is even worse than Sailor Moon in English. It's been mangled to the core. Editing to the extreme, skipping about 16 episodes, changing the attacks. It's seriously the worst dub I've seen...

(And that Rock the Dragon Music Video is the pits of 1995!)

Summary: Japanese version of DBZ is No better
Review: I am Beyond sick and tired of hearing people here and there talk about how the Japanese version is much better. Say this with me "It is Just a Bunch Cartoon series" This is Not a Moive we're talking about. This is a Bunch or DBZs series that go from Dragon Ball to Dragon ball Z to Dragon Ball GT. People only say that the Japanese version is better because of the cussing and the blood and that's it. Let me tell you have bought the Uncut Japanese version of DBZ that had cuss words and blood in it but don't start thinking this is Like The Japanese Anime Movie "Akria". They MITE " and i say again" They MITE have 2 or 3 "AT THE MOST" cuss words in a Dragon Ball z Movie like "Revenge of Cooler" or 1 cuss word in a 30 minute long episode of the Japanese version of the Dragon ball Z series. You see there are Three types of Animes, "Adult Animes" which has Cartoon nudity, alot of cuss words, extreme violence and extreme blood shed "Teen Animes" Which would have Violence " but not extreme" and Blood shed " but not alot" and a cuss word here and there like 2 or 3 at the most in the whole movie. "Kid Animes" That has a bunch of silly acting and singing in it with no cuss words or blood shed. These people that say the Japanese version are looking for Dragon Ball to be an Adult Anime. Say it with me "DBZ and DBGT is a teen anime". And what is all this about no blood shed in the amercan cut version of DBZ. They have same about of blood shed in the Japanese version. The Only the difference with the American Version and the Japanese version is that the Japanese version has some cussing in it but not alot. Just here and there 2 or 3 at the most really and that is really only in The DBZ Movies not the series but you mite find 1 or 2 in some of the episodes of DBZ i'm no sure. but i am here to say the Japanese version is not all that great. the Only people that Like the Japanese version better are the people that want DBZ to be something it is not ( adult anime) .But the american DBZ is as fine as the japanese version.

But i do say this. The American Version of Dragon Ball Z is better than the Japanese Version in a way for one reason and i would say that one Reason is the How the American Version Make the Best Theme Music for Dragon Ball Z and Theme Music for The DBZ Characters. The American Version of DBZ is better in the way it persents it's Characters and the Way it Presents DBZ al together. The Japanese Version of DBZ has cuss words in it here and ther and really the Japanese version puts more on a Hard Attitude look by having them cuss but they put no effort in the theme music that presents the charater. All the music sounds Old and worn out. You have to understand the Theme Music is 50% of the Movie or episode and the Attitude is 50%. Both are needed to make a good Anime. Music connects to the Spirit of a Person and so does the Attitude but the Music connects more. That is why Music sells So much. That is why you have Channels Like MTV which is really known as a All day all Night, Rock and Roll type Channel. MTV is great because it has both Theme Music to All its shows and it has a Great Attitude and Look so they have a 100% Look to theme. As i say . Music Makes the Movie in every Case. the American Version of DBZ is as good as the Japanese Version. Same Amount of blood shed but not really cussing. and cussing really dosn't make the Movie also. It Is the Style of the Movie not the Cussing that is why so many like the American version alot because it adds the music style and the fighting style is still there (Which is why people want to see DBZ) it's not because of the Cussing. It's because DBZ has a great look to it and thanks to the American Version it has Great theme Music as well.

P.S and i Just Hate that song " Head Cha La" It is ok but the American Version of the DBZ Theme Song Has More Cutting Egde even though it is simple. I heard someone say it sounded like it was made in someones basement and that is why they don't like it much. Which really is a dumb thing to say when you think of this .MTV is the best Music Channel on earth and all of those singing on MTV by the Countless Music Bands started from Rocking in the Basement and Garages with Their Bands and are Now Making Millions from off their Music. Because Cutting Egde Music is Party Music That Countless people love to listen to. And Music Like that is the Only Kid of Music Played On College Spring Breaks and that is the Edge the American Version has added to DBZ as well as other things.

Summary: DBZ volume 2
Review: Dragon Ball Z is probably the most popular anime. This set comes with all the Frieza episodes. Although this saga is not my favorite in the DBZ series it is pretty close. Frieza is one of the best villains ever in the show. Although in this season the voice acting kept getting weirder and weirder it is still a great saga. Also the art and animation in this saga isn't the best either.
