Summary: One Of The Most Overlooked Movies In History!
Review: This is an instant Disney classic fron the moment it hit the shelf. I am 17 years ond, and it still brings a tear to my eye to see this movie. For all you people that down this movie because it is bad for younger children to watch, you need to look more deeply into the movie to see what it really says, bacouse it has some very valuable conteny. I would highly recomend this movie to any age group, expecially mid-age kids. Would have given the movie a much higher rating, but...it wouldn't let me :)

Summary: Great movie but I can't rait Fullscreen to high
Review: First let me say this a great movie about friendship. This movies values will appeal to anyone who lost a childhood friend. I would rate thsi five stars if it wasn't for the fact this DVD is awful. The worst part is that it is only in fullscreen. It was orinaly filmed in 1.75 aspect ratio. It also has no real supplements. When a anamorphic widescreen version is released with some extras I will buy it and give it a better reiview. Until then I will not buy it.

Summary: Disney's charm fills this movie!
Review: Disney has a way of making you smile, and this movie is no different. My girls, ages 4 & 3, enjoy this movie..and so do I! It's a story about a Fox who befriends a puppy and as they grow up their friendship must change since the Hound is now a Hunting Dog trained to hunt foxes! It's cute & will keep you & your kids' attention to the end! Grab a box of tissues, just in case!

Summary: Overlooked Platinum Edition?
Review: I did not expect too much out of The Fox And The Hound before seeing it, because this movie is treated like any other "Gold Collections" such as Alice In Wonderland, Melody Time, The Black Cauldron, or even collectors items such as Saludos Amigos and Fun And Funcy Free e.t.c.
However, once I started to watch, I could not stop the film. I truly enjoyed the heart-warming, but still a little sad story as much as I enjoyed Pinocchio. Although there aren't great songs in it, the animation is lively and full of face-and-body-expression like the beast in Beauty And The Beast. (And for this reason, this movie is a little too frightening for young children under age 4-5.) This movie also tells a good moral and a message.
I believe The Fox And The Hound as well as Pinocchio deserves more than Gold Collection but less than Platinum Edition. Therefore I put four stars.

Summary: Definitely a Disney Classic!
Review: I just purchased this on DVD and I think it is one of Disney's prime movies. It teaches us about love and friendship and the loyalty that goes with that friendship. I am appalled that some would think this movie violent. There are so many shows that air on REGULAR TV in this day and age that are much more horrible than this film about friendship. This film teaches about life and values. About what can really happen in the world. A baby fox raised by a caring woman and a hunter that is selfish and interested in only what he can track. The fox and the hound meet and become the very best of friends, not even knowing that they are supposed to be enemies. This just proves that we should not be judgmental. In the end, the hunter finally understands what loyalty is. My mother took me to see this movie when it first came out in theaters and to this day I can still remember that there was not a dry eye as we left that theater. The Fox and the Hound remains to this day, one of my all-time favorite Disney movies and I am sure it will be a hit with my son as well.

Summary: An All-Time Favourite!
Review: "The Fox and the Hound" was of the last films to be apart of the "Black Diamond Collection" before the "Masterpiecee Collection" came to the markets in 1994. The film was released into theaters in 1981 & 1988 and came to video in 1994! This movie is a really great and colorful movie to add too any Disney collector's collection!

The story is about a kind woman who takes in an abandoned baby fox after his mother is killed in a hunting trip. She names him Tod and considers him as part of her family. Tod then meets a bloodhound dog named Copper (Who lives right next door to the kind woman) and they eventually become good friends. They have no clue that they are supposed to be enemies (Since hounds hunt foxs and other forest creatures)

After returning on a hunting trip during the winter with his master (To learn how to hunt), Copper realizes how he shouldn't hang around Tod to prevent Tod from getting killed by his master. By this time, they are both grown up and all the fun times that they had together suddenly don't seem to matter anymore. Eventually, Tod and Copper become enemies and it is Copper's mission to hunt down Tod. You'll be surprised on what happens when Copper and Tod to come face to face!

The film also includes some great songs like "The Best Of Friends" and "Goodbye May Seem Forever" (Which I still cry at when I hear that song!) This movie will also make you cry, so make sure to have a tissue in your hand when approaching the middle part of the movie! All in all, it is a really great movie and people young and old will enjoy watching it! 83 minutes.

Summary: The picture quality could be better...
Review: Although this DVD has improved sound quality over the VHS, this DVD does not have the same improved picture quality of other Disney animated movies on DVD. In addition, the Gold Collection DVDs from Disney don't have as many extras as other editions (i.e. Collector's Editions) so it's not the best buy out there. I'd still recommend this movie to DVD purchasers since The Fox and the Hound is one of may favorite Disney animated movies.

Summary: Not our favorite!
Review: Generally I like these Disney movies. The story seems like a good moral. But this is my least favorite of the Gold Series.

Although the story line is positive (friendship) the shotguns (fired at the women, animals in the gamer reserve) other forms of violence (death of the mother in the beginning, mistreatment of the dogs) and stereotypes of women ("empty headed female") and southerners (as readnecks living in shacks in the country) pretty much limit any positive message.

After I had seen the movie I realized that it wasn't the best pick for my two-year-old girl. Luckily, though, she's not all that fond of it either.

Summary: Poor DVD video quality
Review: The picture quality in the DVD version is very poor. I expected a cleaner picture, but it was very grainy and fuzzy. I was very disappointed.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Pure Disney Magic.
Review: a Heartwarming, Funny yet sad and exciting Animated classic of
the 80's. It's about two best friends who are a Fox and a Hound
who don't know that they are natural enemies but soon they discover that later when they grow up. It's got tears and some
action to go with it, highly recommended.
