Summary: Surprisingly good anime!
Review: Knowing almost nothing about it, I purchased Generator Gawl Vol. 1 with few expectations. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. Simply wonderful!

GG isn't a deep, brain-busting anime like SE Lain or Evangelion (which I enjoy immensely, by the way), but it is a sterling example of what fun anime is all about. Character design is exceptional, the story is sufficiently interesting and well-paced, the humor is clever and not over-done, and the action sequences are first-rate. You just can't help but cheer each time Gawl "generates" into his alter ego to dish out a beating to the bad guys. I've heard a lot of complaints about GG's lack of originality, but honestly, I don't think it's a problem. If you're one of those folks who insist Nadesico is a re-make of Robotech, you might have hang-ups with Gawl. Otherwise, you'll enjoy it. I do wish there were four episodes per DVD instead of three, but it's so enjoyable I can overlook it (but don't get used to it ADV!).

Surprisingly, GG hasn't garnered the hype or fan following in the U.S. it deserves - at least not yet. It easily earns my recommendation. It's simply good anime!

Summary: Tokyo 2040 for Girls
Review: Okay, I've never seen DNA^2, but I can definetely draw some parallels between Generator Gawl and Bubblegum Crisis, Tokyo 2040. But first I'd probably just tell you my opinion and some stuff about the video. Gawl starts off as a typical scifi film, with obvious villains and heroes. (Okay, the heroes are three bishonen from the future.) They're trying to stop the generators, these gigantic mecha-like bio weapons. Gawl, the main hero, fights them by turning into one himself. At that point, I was thinking, "Oh cool, we're going to have some good drama." Well... I'd have to say that so far, this series is pretty much comedy with some action thrown in. It's pretty obvious from the way the plot is headed that things will get more dramatic, though. (Man oh man do I want vol 2 and 3.)

The quality of this anime is the main thing that surprised me. For once, the dub is very well done, and the animation is stylish and not too hard on the eyes. Even the fight scenes are animated smoothly, and you don't feel like you're being jerked around on a screen while watching them. I'm not so sure I liked the character designs for the girls much, but Gawl, Koji, and Ryo certainly have it all in the looks department. (This goes double for Ryo.) Another outstanding feature are the character personalities. Maybe it's the voice-acting, maybe it's not, but does anyone else think that Koji completely defies his stereotype as "the quiet, pessimistic guy?" True, he is the stoic of the group, but he's very charismatic and cynical as well, not unrealistically antisocial like some characters. The same goes for Ryo. He's like Quatre, only he acts like a real person would. ("Hey man, wake up!")

Now, for some side comments on this video. *evil grin* I chose "Tokyo 2040 for Girls" as a title because there are so many similarities. Aside from having three characters instead of for, Generator Gawl's bishonen can pretty easily be compared to the Knightsabers. (Ryo as Nene, Koji as Priss, etc.) There's also the "deceptively human skinned" generators. Come on, where have we heard that before? They even have the same bugged out eyes! O_O The opening credits reminded me of Tokyo 2040 as well, though the amount of feathers certainly kept with the theme. ^_^

Summary: Introducing Generator Gawl
Review: Tape one contains the following episodes: 1) The visitors 2) Flowers and Girls 3) Curiosity

Three young men, Gawl (a human skinned generator), Ro (a scientist) and Koji (a scientist) travel back to the past to the year 2007. Their purpose is to stop Professor Takuma Neksa from uncovering a gene code that will lead to a future threat. However, some generators (metal monsters) travel back in time to stop them. The three young travelers also befriend two schoolgirls the out-spoken Masumi and the soft-spoken Natsume. This contact makes it difficult for the three to keep their secrets and causes a lot of hilarious interaction between all five.

This show is very funny, with a very talented English voice cast. I recommend it to any anime fan.

You are really introduced in a world of mysterius people, and interesting and great characters. You will really enjoy it. Please I recomended this DVD, the picture quality is very good, and so does the soud.

Summary: Genereator Gawl
Review: What can I say? After the first 3 episodes I am totally hooked on GG. It successfully blends in good comedy with outstanding fight scenes. The characters are interesting and never seem to put a damper on the viewer. The only minor gripe I had about it was in episode one where Gawl was reminising about him, Ryo and Kouji's arrival on earth and fighting the first generator. I was watching it on DVD and there were some times I couldn't see the scene well because it was too dark to see anything at all. Bt other than that it was a good anime and seems better than 80 -90 percent of the anime currently out on the market. Buy or rent it today, anime fans!!!

Summary: Interesting and unique story
Review: When I first saw Generator Gawl, it looked a bit stupid. But you actually get to watching it, its pretty interesting, with a cool animation style. Generator gawl is pretty good, considering the fact that it isn't a well known anime in the US.
