Review: This movie is based on the hit video game. There were two versions released on home video, PG-13 and Unrated. However, the Unrated version is still censored from the original Japanese version. Part of Chun Li's shower scene was cut. No, the cut footage is not necessary to understanding the movie, but a movie "For Mature Audiences Only" should be uncensored. As for the DVD content, there's the movie and nothing else. No extras at all. Not only that, but the DVD contains the English dub only. It's not bilingual. I don't mind the American music, but I wish that the Japanese audio track had been provided. As for the movie itself, it includes a lot of the characters, but most of them have only bit parts. The focus is on Ken and Ryu. Guile and Chun Li have decent-sized parts, but Chun Li is put out of action for a lot of the movie. The ending is really stupid. Bison drives at Ryu in a truck, and Ryu turns around and jump-kicks the truck. Please! Those last few seconds should have been removed. Overall, this is an okay movie, but it's censored and crowded, and it has a stupid ending. This DVD is worth a rent.

Summary: Great Anime, Too Bad it has been CENSORED!
Review: What's the point of advertising a film as "Unrated - For Mature Audiences Only" if they go ahead and cut it anyhow? I recall they have released two versions of this film on video to date, one for kids and this "mature" version. Both have been slashed by the censors!What most anime fans who watch this version of the film do not know is that it has been cut in one key place, namely the Chun Li shower scene. I was lucky enough to see a subtitled bootleg of this film when it was first released in Japan many years ago, and it was quite revealing to say the least. Does the cut impact the film greatly? Not really. But I couldn't help but feel cheated when I see the original vision of the animators deliberately tampered with. Buy it if you want the best of the Street Fighter animes, but stay away if you want to hold out for a restored version.

Summary: Not too bad at all
Review: Being a big fan of the Street Fighter video game series, I naturally had to check out this anime that was released way back in 1995. The story revolves around M.Bison, leader of Shadaloo (along with his henchmen: Sagat, Vega, and Balrog), and his search for the ultimate warrior: Ryu. Unfortunately, Ryu is a hard man to find, so Bison kidnaps Ryu's childhood friend Ken Masters in an attempt to lure Ryu over to the dark side. Other Street Fighter favorites like Guile, Chun-Li, and E.Honda have some big roles to play, while we get to see cameos from Zangief, Blanka, Cammy, T-Hawk, Fei Long, Dhalsim, and Dee Jay. The animation itself is very nicely done (action and fighting scenes are great), and the voice acting is surprisingly well done as well. All in all, while Street Fighter 2: The Animated Movie isn't the best anime I've seen, it is pretty good, and fans of the video game should be pleased. And by the way, it is a lot, LOT, better than the live action Jean-Claude Van Damme debacle.

Summary: One of the best SF anime movies ever made
Review: This is one of the best Street Fighter movies ever made, in my opinion. I especially love the fighting scene- Chun Li vs. Vega The fighting scenes are awesome, and the music is great! I haven't checked out SF Alpha yet, but I've heard it's not as good as this. Ryu's shoryuken kicked ... when he used it against Sagat, lol. Well I highly recommend this for action packed, fighting, Street Fighter Fans!

Summary: The BEST SF movie EVER!
Review: This movie proves that SF2 the animated movie is the best SF movie.First of all it has the best characters,except Akuma,and they all do there best.The music and the brilliant sound effects are making this movie so real that you thing the fight is near you or you can feel the hits.Ryu and Ken are the main characters in the movie and thats another reason that this movie is great.
In the movie we see M.Bison seeking for fighters around the world to make them soldiers for his evil organization Shadaloo.When Ryu beats Sagat,M.Bison right-handman,M.Bison wants to find him.Unfortunately,for M.Bison,Ryu is a hardman to find so he gets Ken instead and gives him some of his psycho power so when he meets Ryu he'll put Ken to fight him to see his power.If you want to know more you just have to bye this amazing movie and be sure you want be disapointed.
For an end im just saying that everybody who likes the SF video games should see this movie.

Review: The voice acting stinks and the script is laughable. Some of the characters look like they're out of fifties cartoons. But who cares??? The fight scenes are...awesome dude!!! And that's what this entire movie is, non-stop seamingly pointless fight scenes...

Summary: HOLDING OUT FOR THE 'ORIGINAL JAPANESE' MENU OPTION!

I am not "Street Fighter" otaku, but there's just something inside of me that wants to sit down with this movie and watch all the mind-numbing action while Shinohara Ryoko's theme song-- ''Itoshisato, Setsunasato, Kokoro Tsuyusato'' --is blaring in the background. The ONLY reason I never went to see this film in the movie theatres is because the American distributors (who ALWAYS seem to think they know what we the public want or what's "best" for us) scrubbed out the original Japanese music soundtrack and replaced it with ... AMERICAN ROCK and HEAVY METAL??? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy rock & metal music, especially with "action oriented" films, but this kind of music works best with AMERICAN animated features -- like ''Heavy Metal: The Movie.'' Cheating the viewers by removing the original language pop music soundtracks from JAPANESE anime action films like ''Street Fighter II'' is just as inappropriate as if Artisan (Disney) had replaced Hisaishi's beautiful and stirring soundtrack for ''Mononoke Hime'' with Bach and Mozart. The fact that the American DVD release did not include "MENU OPTIONS" for either: (1) - The original JAPANESE music soundtrack and (2) - The original JAPANESE voice performances with [supposedly] 'literal' English translation subtitles, this feature receives an AUTOMATIC 'ZERO STARS' from me. Had the US DVD release presented us with those two options, then, sure, I would have LOVED to have given the 'Americanized' version a sitting through just to see how everything compared and to get two separate and distinct feelings and "cultural interpretations" of the film. As it stands now, however, I have only two options: Either purchase an original copy direct from Japan -- which is rather costly and does not include English subtitles (being how my Japanese is not yet sufficient enough to understand the film's dialogue) or to just wait half an eternity for the American distributors to 'get their act together' and GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT! *

Summary: Great movie......if you watched Japanese version
Review: It really deserves three *'s but I'm giving it 4... although they screwed the original sound track into a rock/metal music that didn't even fit/matched the fighting or dramatic scenes, movie itself is EXCELLENT and your probably not going to see better fighting choreography if ever. If your avid fan of SF and its history, you probably don't need the whole damn history lesson. But if this DVD/VHS movie is your first intro. to SF world (very rare) than this movie's storyline does wonderful job of introducing the movies main characters (Ryu and Ken) along with other main supporting casts. Story: Just like the video games, SF II storyline evolves around main characters Ryu and Ken...and it stays VERY faithful and TRUE to the original storyline. example: Ryu is a wondering martial arts master always looking for challenges to hone his skills to the next level. Ken is a California surf boy with a hot temper and blonde bombshell for a GF. IT also introduces all the characters up to SF II alpha series (such as Cami, Hawk, Li Long etc..).
As SF II fans knows, M. Bison - the big boss of the most dangerous evil terrorist group in the SF world is in search of a GREAT warrior to brain wash him/her and use him for his conquest to dominate the world. To prevent this, Chun Li (special agent) recruits tough guy Guile from arm post to investigate M. Bison and try to stop his evil plan...that targets Ryu and Ken. This Anime Movie starts with a BANG with a feature fight between Ryu vs Saget (which shows you why saget has that scar in his chest..if you didn't know already). The fight scenes are choreographed so beautifully well, you'll always compare other action animations to SF II - the movie. Don't get the wrong idea simply because SF II has beautiful fight scenes. The movie also has good warm storyline about loyalty and friendship with simple twist of plot that keeps you watching 'till the very end and leave you with VERY complete satisfied feeling. If you were once or still are a huge fan of SF series, this movie DVD or VHS is a must own. But be warned, US version really did numbers of this movie and original score.. which does no justice since Japanese score blended with each and every scenes so well.. it's sad and angers me to no END!! four "*"

Summary: STREET FIGHTER MOVIE a good buy!
Review: I really loved this movie. It's was great in my opinion. All of the fight scenes were awesome, especially the one between Chun Li (my fav character) and Vega, when he ambushes her in her apartment. Let's just say girlfriend gives him a real reason to wear the mask... The movie stays true to the original storyline of the game. YES! I hated the Van Damm live action version. Don't even get me started on that... I personally thought the music was okay. It seemed to fit in particular areas (in the part when Dee Jay beats the [tar out] of these guys in a bar hip hop music is playing the background and when Chun Li fights Vega there's this rock music that seems to fit with the instensity of the fight), although I have yet to see the subtitled version with all of the original music in tact. While the plot line predictable and some the dialogue dorky (Bison: "You're no match against my psychopower!" YUCK!), all in all very much enjoyable.
