Summary: A good show, if you don't mind a protagonist with no morals
Review: Lina Inverse may have had her greedy, ill-tempered, mercenary-like ways, but she was undeniably a good person underneth all that. Not so with Gokudo. A scheming, thieving swordsman who steals from ANYONE and gives to himself, he seems to have been born without a concience, and whenever he battles evil, it's only because they happen to be threatening him personally. In episode one, his landlord asks for his help when the man's daughter Asaka is kidnapped. Gokudo first demands payment of 50 gold coins in exchange for his services, then walks off with the money with no intention to do anything!

Anyway, the first three episodes on this tape/disk are with Gokudo meeting a genie who can change his own gender-both in body and in mind-and who picks and chooses which wishes to grant, and who has a weakness for alcohol, obtains a magic sword that returns to him whenever he calls for it, (guess what Gokudo plans to use the sword for,) stumbles upon a plot by the evil ruler of the kingdom Lolette to sacrifice several virgen women, including the king's own daughter Rubette, and discovers the secret of his birth. The next two episodes are the beginning of a whole new story, as Gokudo, having defeated the evil king, goes off on another adventure with the genie and Princess Rubette in tow.

The show is filled with laughs, and the English dub is great. Two of my favorite voice actors are in it-Stacy Renna (Leona from DOMINION TANK POLICE) is the female genie, Debbie Rabbai/Angoria Deb (Female Maze from MAZE THE MEGA-BURST SPACE) is the adventure-seeking princess Rubette Lolette. Check this one out-unless, of course, you need your heros to have a spark of decency in them.

Summary: gets interesting at the end
Review: The comparisons to Slayers are inevitable... I mean, heck, a pointy haried little helligan swordsman in a medival setting... how can you not compare it to Slayers? Unless you haven't see Slayers.

I was frustrated that the story went so quick and then hit a brick in the middle. By the end I was disappointed that FINALLY it was getting interesting. Despite my 3 star rating I actually want to see the next episodes on the next disc.

This is a good watch if you're feeling childish and silly.

Summary: Gokudo - an Extraordinaire anime!
Review: There are noble, handsome princes who traverse afar for the good of society, defending the weak, giving money to the poor... And then there's Gokudo. An ill-tempered, lecherous, money-grubbing adventurer whose only thoughts are for his own safety and pleasure, he manages to accidentally save at least four people every episode, usually stealing from them in the process. His goals are never honest, and his methods are despicable, but he's got spunk. Each episode is laugh-out-loud hilarious, the fight scenes are most excellent, and the enemies are superb. A must-see for the Slayers fan.

Summary: Slayers Spinoff? Definately not.
Review: Think if Slayers' Lina Inverse and Gourry Gabriev had a kid I wouldn't be surprised if Gokudo was the result. He's short-tempered, ignorant, and ill-mannered, off on his never boring adventures with his magical sword in search of babes and money. With the unexpected credit and unwanted followers he has earned along the way the chemistry of comedy explodes on the screen. This fanatasy series is much more than I had expected....its unpredictable plot keeps you yearning for more. Check it out!

Summary: Funny!
Review: This collection is a lot cheaper than buying all those other DVDs, even if you haven't seen the series, buy this whole collection, 'cause you may end up liking it and wanting every episode! A few jokes were so-so, but most were really funny! I really reccomend this
