Summary: The best of the best
Review: Dead zone is the best english DBZ movies. This was the first, released in 1989, most people like this one the least. But, in my opinion is the best. One of the funniest too, it's cool to see how Gohan started out. It's the same old story, finding the dragonballs, but who cares? Listen, if you have a chance, make this you first choice.

Review: First off get this Movie Uncut so you can see the cut part at the begining so you can understand it more and Pionneer keeps all the so called bad words or swearing and its not just the hell word either. Second I can't stand when people ask when the movie takes place in the the show. None of the movies take place anywhere in the episodes because they are not EPISODES they are MOVIES! The only movie that really goes with the episodes is movie 9. This is a great buy if its uncut and not taped from Toonami.

Review: This movie is the first Dragon Ball Z Movie ever made. It is about Garlic Jr.'s first attempt to rule Earth. He wants to become immortal, so he sends his right hand men to fetch the Dragon Balls for him. But-- Gohan has the four star dragon ball on his hat, so Garlic Jr. sends his men to kidnap Gohan. When Goku finally gets to Garlic Jr.'s palace, he is too late, because Garlic Jr. has already been given immortality. Goku and Piccolo work together to kill Garlic Jr.'s three men, but then, they have to fight the immortal Garlic Jr. themselves!

Summary: Great dvd. Worth the money.
Review: As said in the title, I think this is a great DVD. If watching, i advise you to put the settings on Japanese with english subtitles. The dub voices and acting is horrible. Now, here is the review. The first of the 13 DBZ movies, Deadzone (Return My Gohan in japanese) Tells of Garlic Jr., and his struggle to take over the world. He starts by collecting the dragonballs to summon the dragon Shenron. He ends up kidnapping Son Gohan, the son of Chichi and Son Goku- The worlds strongest fighter, and Goku goes on a bit of a journey on his flying cloud kintoun to rescue him. After Garlic Jr gathers the dragonballs (right after a very interesting sequence where Gohan gets drunk off some apples) he wishes or immortality. To know the rest BUY THE DVD. Oh, and the extras are great for those sheltered from the japanese episodes (me ;_;). There are four clips that weren't shown on Dub Dragonball Z. 2 are from pisode one and two are most of episode 9 (only about 12% of episode nine was shown on Dub DBZ). But, just to sum everything up, buy the DVD. You shouldn't regret it but only in minor ways. I gave it a four because they could have done better with the subtitles. Kinda hard to read.

Summary: Dead Zone DVD
Review: I had already seen this movie on Cartoon Network, and being as how I'm a DBZ enthusiast I really wanted to own it. I really thought they did a good job on making the dubbed version, the sound effect and music sound much clearer, than the original Japanese version, even if they differ from time to time. Finally they added as extras, some original sense from DBZ the series, that had been edited from the American version. And they put some nice touches in to the menu, making it all the more enjoyable. The movie was really good too, but chances are if your going to buy this you have already seen it. But if you haven't seen this movie it is a really good classic DBZ movie, action with a side of comedy, and it sets up the story for the Garlic Jr. saga.

Summary: Nice Overall
Review: Just so you know, this movie is probably most enjoyed by a dbz fan, but here we go:

Overall, this movie was pretty good. It has what every dbz movie has: a bad guy, and gokou to fix the problem. This movie had tons of action, and all of it was cool. As usual, the plot isnt the best, but it works

The transfer to dvd was excellent. Also, it is uncut, unlike the edited 'Cartoon Network' version, so it is nice to see the movie as a whole. The dvd also has some other cool features, like a page for character info, and other releases by pioneer[i think they did this one].

However, this is not the best movie in the dbz series, sure every dbz fan should see this movie, but a non-dbz fan who bought this movie would most likely [im guessing] think of returning it after one viewing. A movie that would be most satisfying would be DBZ MOVIE 2[the worlds strongest].

In the end, a satisfying movie, at a decent price. Again, the non-dbz fan might have some trouble getting into it

Review: This One Had Great Action. One Of the best scenes is when gohan blasts garlic jr. into the dead zone when his mysterious sleeping powers awaken. A Must Have For Any Dbz Fan!!

Summary: Dragonball Z - The Movie: Dead Zone
Review: This movie is an anime, which is Japanese animation. It one of the 13 movies of the Dragonball/Dragonball Z series.

THE PLOT: The plot is not very complicated, yet not too simple. It could have gone a little deeper.

THE CHARACTERS: A typical DBZ movie with a lot of Goku in it. Those of you who are fans of DBZ may not like the fact that Vegeta is not in this movie.

THE ENGLISH VOICES: They are pretty decent.

THE JAPANESE VOICES: Except for Chi Chi's voice (hidious) and Goku's (sounds like a girl) these voices are pretty good.

THE SOUND: The sound is different in the subtitle then in the dub. I'd say the subtitle has a bit better quality sound than the dub.

THE ENDING: It is a typical ending, but how they defeat the villain is a real surpirse.

HOW MUCH IT STAYS TRUE TO THE ORIGINAL VERSION: This movie is uncut, and it includes all the original Japanese songs.

THE SONGS: They are not translated, but if you decide to watch the subtitled version, then the lyrics to the songs are hilarious!

THE ANIMATION: It is well done for an anime, but poorly done compared to American animation.

THE ACTION: Pretty good fight scenes. Watch for the "Power pole extend" and "Kamehameha" parts.

HOW I WOULD RATE THIS MOVIE: If I were the rater, I would rate it PG. There is one scene that is a little bit nasty, since the movie is uncut.

TIME PERIOD: For you DBZ veterans out there, Dead Zone takes place after Dragonball but before Dragonball Z.

THE DUB OVERALL: I'd say it's ok.

THE SUBTITLE OVER ALL: The subtitle is very well done.

OVERALL RATING: 2 of 5 stars.

OVERALL COMMENTS: The movie is very short, the fight scenes were ok, as well as the sound and voices, and the movie was funny at times. The ending is really cool.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Better than the other two (English) movies...
Review: This was the first DBZ movie I saw and I bought the uncut theaterical version...It was enjoyable to watch and it was better than the other two (english)...now why do I keep saying (english)? That's because there are ten other movies...someone else mentioned this but what he didn't mention was where you can find them....If you can put yp with a lot of reading b/c of subtitles then go to this site and it has all the movies plus some other DBZ rarities (including Japanese episodes not seen in the US yet)...the site is www.sbgiftsandhobbies.com...enjoy
