Summary: No Spoiler-Simple Review
Review: In this 5th volume of Escaflowne, we fianlly get to see what is the power of Atlantis; the power of wishes. But, we learn that when a person has axienty in thier hearts, those anxienties turn to be bad ones, and effects people in a bad way. Van and Allen was wounded because Hitomi abused her power of Fortune-telling. Escaflowne is getting interesting.

Summary: Best episodes from an outstanding series
Review: Just about every character gets reevaluated in thes eepisodes. Okay, only Van, Allen, and Dornkirk are actually reevaluated, but it's really cool. These episodes also contain a huge number of plot twists. You'll probably have to watch them twice just to follow everything, but that's okay, because as I said, they are great episodes.

Good animation, great artwork, outstanding music, and a cool story. What more oculd one ask for?

Oh, as for you people who can't get the DVD to play on PS2: We feel your pain, but please stop whining. You are really very boring.

Summary: Doesn't work with PS2
Review: The first thing you'll notice about this release is the shoddy soft plastic case (despite having one of the nicest covers thus far). The next thing you may notice (if you're using a PS2 to play the DVD) is that it doesn't work. This is my experience. It seems Bandai has switched DVD recording companies with Volume 5 (from CMCA to Future Media). Neither volume 5 or 6 will read on my PS2. I am devastated...

Summary: Escaflowne is a true anime masterpiece...
Review: The Vision of Escaflowne is one of the greatest (if not the greatest) anime series of all time. It combines action, drama, fantasy, romance, and many other elements to create this fascinating, thoughtful, and compelling tale. In addition to a superb storyline and expert character development, Escaflowne has an incredible musical score composed by Yoko Kanno. Performed by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, the music in this series is truly remarkable, and can rank among the best in both the animated and live-action world. In short, The Vision of Escaflowne is a true anime masterpiece, and should not be overlooked.

****(Although I would higly reccomend buying the DVD or at least getting to see the uncut Japanese version as well as the uncut dub!)

Summary: 5 Stars for Content, 0 Stars for Format Problems!
Review: There's not much to be said about the Escaflowne series that hasn't already been said - but a warning must go out to all Playstation 2 owners who use their machines as their exclusive DVD players... ESCAFLOWNE - PARADISE & PAIN (Vol. 5) and ESCAFLOWNE - FATE & FORTUNE (Vol. 6) are NOT PS2 compatible! This problem has been verified with DVDs purchased from multiple sources, on multiple machines - the fault lies not with Amazon, but with Bandai.

Let me reiterate - Vols 5 and 6 of Escaflowne are NOT PS2 compatible discs! Why this is so, I don't understand, as ALL of the *other* discs in the series *are* PS2 compatible. Other than this inexplicable and irritating problem, this series is of the highest quality, with excellent picture and Dolby Digital sound to boot.

Summary: Escaflowne: The Saga Continues
Review: This is the 5th volume to this wonderful series and it is one of the more informative ones. In it, our group of main characters goes to Atlantis (or the ruins of Atlantis) and discover the secret of it's power and the tragedy of Allen's past. Also, you find out about how Dornkirk came form Earth to the Gaea and about his obsession with the Gravity of Destiny. Must have for Escaflowne addicts.

Summary: Escaflowne Rocks!
Review: This wonderful series continues with Volume 5. A must have for all anime enthusiasts, this volume continues where the last volume left you hanging.

Escaflowne has something for everyone with action, drama, and a slight touch of comedy. The animation is solid, complimented by a superb cast of voice actors and an equally superb soundtrack!
