Summary: Great series
Review: INTRODUCTION:
Ever since the late seventies, the Gundam series has been one of the most successful and widely-loved anime series in the world. It has become a favorite of many over the years. There have been several different sub-series over the years, and one of the most popular ones of which is the Wing series, released in the mid-nineties. This is a DVD featuring episodes fromt that series. Read on for my review.

BASIC PLOT:
The Gundam Wing series follows the exploits of five young men who pilot mobile suits against the forces of an organization seeking world domination. There's Heero (the main man), Duo (the cool guy), Trowa (the quiet guy), Quatre (the peace-lover), and Wufei (the overconfident hothead.) The battle rages on for forty-nine episodes, and as the series progresses, a number of plot twists keep things interesting. This is a rare example of a series where the characters aren't paper thin - they continue to evolve as the series progresses. This is one of the best anime series out there, as one of the best mecha series.

SERIES OPINIONS:
To put it simply, this is an excellent series. Many fans of the Gundam series call this the best sub-series of all, and honestly, who can blame them? The storyline is great, the animation is great, the characters are great - everything about this series is great. It's good to see the series get a long overdue DVD release in America.

DVD:
These DVDs are good, because they contain several uncut episodes, but they're bad in that they don't contain any special features (that is, other than the very basic DVD stuff.) The series is one of the greatest anime series out there, but don't expect any bonus material.

OVERALL:
Overall this is an excellent anime series, and I recommend it to any anime or mecha fan. If you like either one, this series will not disappoint.

Summary: Reunion with Relena
Review: Nothing important happens in the 5 espiodes on this DVD. This DVD does however introduces a new character: Dorothy who is studying at the Sanc Kingdom with Relena as the head of the kingdom. At the end of the DVD, Heero and Quarte are with Relena in the Sanc Kingdom. The other espiodes are just recaps of what happened before. Not the best gundam wing DVD, but why not buy the whole series?

Summary: Heroine of the Battlefield
Review: On the downside, this dvd features TWO plot review episodes. But on the upside, we are given a a great deal of insight into one of the hardest to understand characters of this magnificent series, Treize. My second favorite character in the series (second only to Zechs) Dorothy, is also introduced in this dvd.

While the review episodes help us to put things into perspective and remind us of how things have changed and progressed thus far, they also show how Relena and Treize (two characters who are strong and resolute despite objectives that run in entirely different directions) are about to pursue life courses that will change things for themselves and their loved ones forever.

Dorothy Catalonia is the perfect tragic heroine, and you can never tell whether she is joking, being sarcastic, or telling the truth. He scenes with Relena in particular are absolutely perfect. One of the greatest endings to any episode in the show has to be when Relena and Hero meet again (and we see how much both of them have really changed).

For Gundam Wing fans this is a must-have. But you already knew that.

Summary: Continued quality
Review: Pioneer continues to deliver a quality product with the latest installment of the Gundam wing DVD series.

Image and sound quality are just as good as the previous releases. Aliasing is about as low as on an uncompressed NTSC source. Colors are bright and stable.

If you like Gundam Wing, I believe you will like this DVD.

Summary: No new stories just basic Gundamit but you need it
Review: There were basically no new Episodes on this disc. There were just recaps of what happened on 3 episodes. The other 2 episodes are building up for what will come.... And it's going to be big. I gave it 2 stars cause it's nothing new, just reruns; however you definately need this disc for your Gundam Wing Collection!

Summary: The saga continues.... SUIT UP !
Review: This DVD continues the saga established in the previous five discs with everyone's favorite fine young Gundanium mecha pilots still struggling to find peace, themselves, happiness and a place in the ever changing world After Colony 195. As with any serialized program like Gundam Wing, it is rather important for the viewer to have some (or a lot) of knowledge about the current state of affairs in the series prior to viewing this disc or a serious case of "WHAT?" could result.

For those who have followed (adored, craved, idolized, etc.) the exploits of the five shooting stars, this disc moves along pretty well with the exception of episode 27 (The Locus of Victory and Defeat) which pretty much just recaps the previous 26 episodes with Relena narrating. This is a necessary vehicle in serialized stuff like this and it is handled pretty well here. Lots of action and intrigue including some fairly juicy political shenanigans with Trez and all his friends and enemies. Not quite as heavy on the combat as some of the previous DVDs but lots of tasty close up fighting between prototypes and many serious explosions.

The DVD transfer and encoding on these discs is pretty good with only minor minor glitches such as slight frame repeat/jump following menu item selection. Extras are pretty basic, just like the other discs, with pilot and mecha information that you could easily grab up from a web site or something similar.... Given the volume of production work and prototype drawings generated with all anime it seems sort of a shame to not include these on the DVDs especially since BanDai is making the digitally spoiled amongst us wait for the discs while the VHS folks will have all the episodes sixty days sooner.

My copy of Endless Waltz is still sealed and awaiting the last "episode" DVD to be released. !3x4/4x3!
