Summary: Manatsu No Eve!
Review: The Daughter Of Darkness (US Title) is a great follow up to the first Tenchi movie. It's has Mayuka, a great new character Who brings fun in this movie and shows Ryoko and Ayeka fighting over Tenchi. It just a movie I really enjoyed because I has lots of humor and very detailed and amazing animation that you can only expect from Japan.

Summary: Cast list offered is for the movie Manatsu No Eve
Review: The cast list for Tenchi Muyo 2: Here Comes Ayeka, is actually the cast list for the movie Manatsu No Eve, known in the US as Tenchi Muyo Movie 2: Daughter of Darkness. Fix this, and I will return to review it. I've seen the whole Tenchi series, and would love to review them episode by episode, so get to work on it. :-)

Summary: An Exemplary DVD, a fast-paced intriguing story
Review: The video quality is top notch with excellent color saturation. The Dolby 5.1 soundtrack on both English Dub and Original Japanese language tracks takes full advantage of the surround channels (both music and sound effects are in the surround channels). All the extras are there, including a Tenchi encyclopedia. I wish all DVDs were produced this way!

The story is fast paced. If you are not fluent in Japanese, I would suggest running the English Dub version first, then viewing with the Japanese soundtrack and English subtitles. This will help in understanding the story. The one drawback is that the movie is only 60 minutes - too short for the story being told.

Summary: I really enjoyed watching Tenchi-Muyo: Here Comes Ayeka.
Review: This movie is one of thousands called Japanese Anime. This style of drawing is renowned around the world and Tenchi Muyo is one of the best. This episode is filled with action. It also has a very intense fight between two spaceships. Not only that but two very attractive young women competing for Tenchies affection.

Summary: Not as good as TMiL but still good!
Review: Tenchi 2 is obviously not as good as the first movie but it has it's good points. The story did not have as many points where the story kind of drug along as Tenchi 1 did and the character interaction seems alot more natural. The touching scene between Tenchi and Ryoko is almost reason enough to watch it. And the end song "Manatsu no Eve" (also the original title of the film) is very enjoyable. The only problem was Ryo Ohki's lack of screen time. :)

Summary: Excellent colors and comprehensive Tenchi Encyclopedia!!
Review: Pioneer sets the standard for DVD functionality in this DVD. Included is a Tenchi Encyclopedia with hypertext links to video shots from the tenchi TV series and everything you ever wanted to know about the Tenchi Universe. Make this your first DVD if you can!! This is truly the ultimate DVD. Of course, the storyline is awesome too....but I shan't reveal anything except that it's definitely worth your money.

Summary: Good Movie-Ryoko meets her match!
Review: The story could be better if it's idea was a little more original. It's just that there are too many movies with evil demons for bad guys who want to get revenge and kill the good guys. I have to admit though the bad guy (or should I say gal) had a pretty interesting idea for getting rid of the Tenchi and the gang (good guys of course). In case you didn't know this is called an anime (a sometimes violent animated feature from Japan). It is part of the Tenchi Muyo series, a brilliant series of a high school boy (Tenchi) who has 6 beautiful girls and 1 cabbit (Ryo-Ohki - a half rabbit, half cat animal that eats carrots and meows) live with him. I can't spoil the movie, all I can say is Ryoko finally meets her match. After kowing this I know most you fans are going to go out now and buy it right away! I am a big fan of Tenchi and Anime. You'll watch this movie over and over again. It's not as good as the first movie (Tenchi Muyo in Love) but it's still awesome! Don't miss the tv series or the movie. Tenchi Muyo Forever!!!!!!

Summary: Tenchi and his Clique are Back!
Review: "Tenchi Muyo! Manatsu no Eve" is a movie I truly enjoyed. I've watched all three "Tenchi" series again and again on the Cartoon Network, and have become a Tenchi fanatic. I can't help myself - the characters are compelling and their relationships complex. This particular movie seems to follow and combine "Tenchi Muyo!" and "Tenchi Universe" in that Tenchi is related to the royal family of planet Jurai, with Lighthawk swords and everything. I don't think this movie, "Daughter of Darkness," is for a general audience, as it immediately assumes that the viewer is familiar with the general Tenchi storylines and characters.

The movie begins with a pleasant summer day, Tenchi and the girls doing their chores around the house and the Masaki shrine. As Tenchi prepares to come home for lunch, he is confronted by a young girl, Mayuka, who insistently calls Tenchi her "daddy." For all of us who are familiar with Tenchi himself, you know that when something so unusual comes out of nowhere, Tenchi freaks out. Nothing new here on that tip. Returning home, of course, Ryoko and Ayeka are beside themselves with jealousy and consternation upon meeting Mayuka.

As it turns out, there is a demon-child named Yuzuha who created Mayuka to exact a centuries-planned revenge plot against Lord Katsuhito/Yosho (Tenchi's grandfather). Tenchi and his family must figure out what to do with Mayuka and how to defeat the demon Yuzuha. Oddly enough, since the characters and their milieu is taken largely from the first two television series', the plot of the movie closely mirrors the plot of the third series, "Tenchi in Tokyo." Another odd parallel is that the English voice actor for Mayuka sounds eerily similar to the voice actor who played Sakuya in "Tokyo."

The best thing about "Daughter of Darkness" for me was the role that Little Washu, my favourite character, plays in the story. K.T. Vogt, her English voice actor, does a brilliant job, as usual, in making Washu insightful, intelligent, sarcastic, and adorable. The worst thing about the movie for me was its length. At only one hour, the movie plays like the last few episodes of a typical series, but without the development of contexts or characters. Like I said earlier, it assumes you know all the basics. Also, I don't really understand all the christological referents that surround Mayuka, but I'll leave that to a brighter analyst to parse its significance.

At any rate, "Daughter of Darkness" is a fine movie, well-animated (better than the TV shows for my money) and well-acted. I've already watched it through at least four times, and it really grows on you quickly. If you love Tenchi, Washu, Mihoshi, Ryoko, Ayeka, Kiyone, Sasami, Katsuhito, Nobuyuki, and Ryo-Ohki already, go and get the movie immediately. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, start with the television series' first.

Summary: Awesome. It's been 3 years and I still love it...
Review: I watched this with my big sister about three years ago. I loved it then and still love it now. It was definitely my favorite of all the Tenchi movies.

If you haven't already read the summary... A young girl named Mayuka appears insisting on calling Tenchi, "Daddy". She appears to have no memory of anything except her daddy for some reason.

As Washu tries to decode the girls genetics, Ryoko and Ayeka, instead of directing their jealousy towards each other, they aim it towards Mayuka (physically most of the jealousy comes from Ryoko).

I would recommend this DVD for Ryoko and Tenchi fans, since the other couplings don't appear often, if at all.

Warning! There is some nudity, but very brief.

Lastly, I will conclude with saying that this is definite must-see for Tenchi fans. Tenchi must fight to save the ones he cares for as the ultimate battle between Light and Darkness occurs.

Summary: Tenchi the Movie 2 - The Daughter of Darkness
Review: and claims to be Tenchi's daughter. Mayuka not only looks kind of like him, but she can even call up Jurai power in the form of a Light Hawk Wing, just like Tenchi! As Ryoko and Ayeka become jealous and see the young girl as a new rival, will Washu and the others find out what's going on?
In the end it turns out of be a grudge over 700 years old! And it happens to be against Yosho!
How will Tenchi save his friends against the Demon of Darkness and will he also feel the need to save Mayuka, daughter or not?
Talking toys, adult scenes and a mature plot makes this movie something the kids might NOT wish to watch.
