Summary: Fantastic!!!
Review: This video holds my 17 month old daughter's interest like no other. Once the Wiggles (or anyone for that matter) stop singing and dancing, she gets up and goes away. This video, however, keeps the music and the dancing going 'til the end!

Summary: Not bad
Review: My son is a huge Wiggles fan - so I got the two of these as a combo purchase. Dance Party was made a while ago so he wasnt too intrested in it. If I would of known that I wouldnt of purchased it, but Yummy Yummy is great. The songs and videos are more up to date (as what you would see on Disney) and he knows the songs and dances. So - overall it was a purchase well worth the money. As long as my son is happy so am I. I would just caution parents on buying the older versions because children dont seem to 'know' the Wiggles or seem to be intrested.

Summary: Good - but old!
Review: You can tell that this was a very early version of the Wiggles - they have come a long way since this was produced! I wish that they wouldof redone this with the newer costumes and song versions. Oh well - my son still loves it! And that is all that counts.

Summary: Not a bad video, but I feel sooo misled!
Review: I was dissapointed with this DVD. And it has nothing to do with the quality, albeit poor. It is entertaining to see an early video with Anthony in a short-sleeved golf shirt(green!), as well as playing Captain Feathersword. And what is up with his hair? And Dorothy, well.... My son and I are huge Wiggle fans!! And we both like the video!

The dissapointment is from the fact that I didn't know what I was buying. Like others have said, the pictures on the DVD cover show them as they are today, and the copyright date on the back is 2002. I was under the impression I was buying a recent video. Had it said the real date, I would have no reason to be upset. I wish that I had read the reviews before buying, so consider yourself warned!

Summary: Before their "fat Elvis" stage
Review: This was our first Wiggles tape, and we had no preconceptions about the band. Our daughter loved it, and we couldn't get the songs out of our heads. Having now seen other tapes and the television show, this one still has a place in our hearts. Yes, the pieces are old and the whole thing has a decidedly low-budget quality to it, but to us these are its strengths. The songs here have great, catchy riffs, and some are almost universal, harkening back to the best of the folk movement. "Brown Girls in the Ring" is in fact an old song, updated by the Wiggles. When I see this tape, I see a committed crew of performers and supporters working from the heart, without the benefit of Disney-sized budgets and slick marketing. What more could you want for your kids? The show today has become a bit of a product; we prefer this tape, which features talented children dancing in each scene. The Wiggles deserve their success, but we long for the old days, and regret that there are so few other programs that evince these values.

Summary: Major disappointment--the songs just don't hold up
Review: Many shortcomings of this video have been pointed out by others here--the awful lighting, weak production, bad duplication (the colors are REALLY muddy), and muffled sound--but I have to take issue with those defending the tape. When you get right down to it, The Wiggles are all about the songs, and in that area, too, this tape comes up short--way short.

Unlike my 22-month-old daughter, I needed relief from the monotony of the songs on our existing Wiggles videos, numerous as they were. So, I picked up this one and "Wiggly Play Time" (another disappointment, but for another reason--it's just TV episodes). Had I seen shaggy hair and non-Wiggle-ized shirts on the cover of this one, I'd have known I was buying older material. But I didn't. And in fact, I checked the copyright date and took it as an indication that it was relatively new.

What a disappointment. With a few exceptions, the songs here are un-catchy and performed without much zip. Whereas my daughter will watch the newer tapes from start to finish, knowing that the next song is likely to be as good or better than the last one, that doesn't hold true for this one. After two viewings (which took several starts and stops to accomplish, because she was so disinterested), she's taken to requesting the better songs on the video. Not good.

Honestly, I find the video oddly entertaining as a time capsule of what The Wiggles once were. But that's not why I bought it. I'll wait for VH1 to do a "Behind The Music" episode on The Wiggles for that.

Don't repeat my mistake--save your money and buy one of the newer collections instead, particularly "It's A Wiggly Wiggly World" or "Hoop-Dee-Doo! It's a Wiggly Party." Those two tapes are great fun, which is much more than you can say for this one.

Summary: Very misleading
Review: I admit my son and I are huge wiggles fan but I was very dissappointed in this video i bought just the other day. On the cover it says 2001 and has the wiggles on the cover and on the back as they look today and it doesnt say anything about it being an older video. My son loves captain feathersword and he is played by 3 different people in this video!!! Anthony and his brothers, Paul paddick isn't even in it yet. My 4 year old nephew saw it and said what the heck is wrong with Dorothy! The only thing is it was pretty funny to see how far they have come but it was not worth my [money].

Summary: My kids love it...
Review: This video is the "early works" of the Wiggles. With that in mind, I don't mind the fact that it is a little on the rough side in terms of the sets and filming. The important thing is that my kids don't even notice! These are great songs that keep them dancing and playing along. My kids are 2 and 4 and this is one of their favorites.

Summary: If you love the Wiggles, you will love this video/DVD!
Review: We're BIG fans of the Wiggles. My 2-1/2-year-old twins love to jump and dance around while watching their Wiggles videos/DVDs, and this one is no exception. Yes, it contains "classic" Wiggles songs and skits, and was probably recorded early in their careers. The backgrounds aren't as spiffy as the ones in their later videos/DVDs, and there aren't any fancy computer graphics. It's still a lot of fun, though! (I almost didn't buy this one because of the bad reviews I'd read. I'm SO glad I took the chance and bought it anyway.)

Summary: A Very Dated and Low Budget Video...buy the CD instead
Review: After buying the Yummy Yummy DVD (which I highly recommend), this is a disappointment. Compared to their later work, the 1995 release "Dance Party" is second rate in regards to its overall production. The Wiggles were obviously just feeling their way at this point, and needed a good production company to transform them into part of the Disney marketing machine :) If nothing else, it is fascinating to observe the contrast between the Wiggles of yesterday and today. The way Anthony looked back then is pretty wild!

Most importantly, my son is not nearly as engaged in this video as with Yummy Yummy. With that said, most of the music is pretty good and worthy of buying on CD.
