Summary: So-So Flick
Review: First of all, let me say that I'm not a big anime fan. I've watched a few of these films, but I just can't get into this stuff. "Blood" is okay, but it's not that great. There isn't much to work with here other than a few demonic vampires and some explosions. The characters are underdeveloped, the story is weak, and the entire film moves at a snails pace(which is bad since this flick's only about forty-five minutes long). The main character-the lady vampire killer-is never developed well enough to let you understand what makes her tick.

I agree with another reviewer that had this been a pilot for a series, it would work rather well. It leaves many unanswered questions and, as stated before, the characters just aren't developed well enough.

In closing, if you are a huge anime fan, go ahead and buy this. It will not add anything to your collection, but you may want to keep a copy around just in case you find yourself with a little time to kill. If you're just curious about anime, like myself, don't bother with this one. There's nothing convincing contained herein.

Summary: Tasteless and Insipid Blood
Review: Hailed as one of the best animes of the last years, "Blood - The Last Vampire" shows some promise but ends up being terribly disappointing. Yes, the animation techniques are dazzling and somewhat impressive, so there`s an appealing visual style here. Unfortunately, that`s all there really is. The rest is basically an unconvincing and pointless story that presents unexciting action sequences with cardboard characters and little creativity. If this was a pilot to an anime series, I guess it would be decent, yet nothing special overall, but "Blood" is supposedly a movie, and a short one at that. I don`t get the hype and acclaim about this film, given that it`s just another forgettable time-waster. Visually it`s an enjoyable experience, but a (good) movie should be more than some pretty and edgy pictures glued together.

Summary: Great for the 45 minutes
Review: I've had this movie recommended before, so I finally picked it up. I wasn't disappointed; the movie offers wonderful animation and plenty of action. After offing three demons, I was anxious for Saya to go kick some more butt.

But it was not to be. After one particularly fast-paced action scene, the credits quickly and unexpectedly rolled. I sat in my chair, mouth agap, my beer forgotten. This movie--this "awesome, cool movie" to quote Butters of South Park--ended. Quickly. With no conclusion.

"What happened next?" I cried, outraged.

But I received no answer, other than the credits continuing to roll.

I checked around. No, this wasn't a series. It was, for all intents and purposes, a "movie," just as Dragonball Z has "movies" which are also only 45 minutes long. There is an English-version comic sequel available, though, so if you're looking for more Last Vampire action (as I am) you might want to give it a try.

Don't get me wrong, for 45 minutes I was blown away. Buy it if you're a big anime or vampire fan, but if you're only casually into it, you might want something with a bit more length.

Summary: Takes a Bite But Still Some Unanswered QuestionS
Review: This is a very visual movie. Some of the animation is soooo realistic *check out the planeS*.I would've given this movie 5 starS.But here are the reasons why 4 starS... 1.On back of the dvd it says 83 minutes and the movie is only 48 minuteS 2.It ends with unanswered questionS..Will there be more?? Should be a series..Its very Buffylike..Picture Wednesday Addams meets Buffy..There is none of that big eyed wierd mouth movements common in anime..Which is a plus for the courage to try something different..And for those of us who got tired of the same ol stuff..It is definatly worth your money..Just hope they make more to resolve unanswered questionS..But still very brilliant..She is a HOT anime girl too make more or put her live action into the series Angel since Buffy was canceled..Check this out and take a bite with this HOT gothic anime girl..Bl''OO''dy KiSSeS 2 ya All

Summary: underdeveloped story is right!!
Review: There is no real story here. The whole movie seems more like some artsy noir project by film school kids rather than a typical anime. There is just some girl who you are told nothing about, she kills some demons, the movie ends. It almost seems more like a trailer for a movie than like an actual movie.

Then of course is the length. It is less than 45 minutes long! And all the DVD extras that are added DO NOT make up for the short length of this flick. The extras are just not any good. If you are really interested in this anime for some reason then I strongly suggest renting it before you buy it so as to avoid wasting your money.

Summary: More action than horror, more gore than storyline
Review: "Is she still hunting those demons, as we as humans continue to kill each other?" This is the pseudo-philosophical ending line of this movie, as if to make up for the utter lack of storyline throughout. All in all, this was more action and gore than well-developed storyline/characters. That's fine if you could care less about thought-provoking depth, but if you *do* want thought-provoking depth, then I'd highly recommend Vampire Princess Miyu in place of this braindead and one-dimensional flop.

Summary: Film brevity makes for huge letdown
Review: Don't be duped by Manga Corp. this movie is 45 minutes long! Even though the DVD case may say 83 minutes. That's 83 minutes when you add in the trailers, behind the scenes material, etc. Trust me, its 45 minutes long.

Don't get me wrong. Blood (TLV) is a sonic and visual feast. The computer generated back drops, the DD 5.1 soundstage have the beginnings of a great film. Its too bad the movie just stops in the middle of the story. No mention of sequel or anything.

Manga Corp. did almost as good a job hoodwinking us with the film, as the Sci Fi channel did with the "Series Finale" of Farscape.

Buy this used or discounted. It's not worth your hard earned money at $25 for 45 minutes!

Summary: Another Vampire Heroine
Review: this is pretty nice and bloody at times except it is only 48 mins long but it is pretty good and in a way it adds to the list of vampire animes and lists of vampire heros or heroines like Alucard and Miyu

Summary: Not Recommended
Review: Though the animation was far beyond extraordinary, the actual movie itself is a measly 45 minutes long. The story is in no way fluid nor does it have a point (though it is briefly stated in the beginning that Saiya, the main character, is to slay a few demons). Random events take place and the story switches between scenes too fast to allow the viewer any hope of becoming interested in it and the use of both Japanese and English dialouge does little to make the characters more complex as the director had wished. For those hoping this movie compares to "Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust", don't be fooled. There is no complex plot, nor does the time constraint allow for any character development. The only romance scene (if you will) in this film is at the end when Saiya gives a few drops of her blood to a demon she has just brutally lacerated, yet this has no significance whatsoever and will only leave viewers shaking their heads wondering why the movie didn't elaborate on it. This is mainly a movie for those looking to see a gore fest, and not for a serious collector of anime. Once again, the actual movie itself is 45 minutes long and it even ends on a confusing note which personally left me wondering why I wasted my money. The entire VHS, on the other hand, is 83 minutes long consisting of: 10 min. worth of previews (both from the beginning and in the end from Manga Corps. catalog), a 35 minute session at the end which interviews the creators of the movie (subtitled i might add), and a video clip of a japanese band that I'm sure everone knows about. The video was nothing short of a waste of money and I would not recommend that anyone purchase this video unless they have a burning urge to see it for themselves. You'd do better to rent it at Blockbuster if you can.

Summary: IT'S 46 MINUTES LONG
Review: Manga craftily fail to mention this on the cover and I was very let down when the movie faded out to the end titles merely 40 minutes into the film. I liked where it was going and it could have gone further but it just ended! What's the point in a 46 minute long movie?

What I don't understand is if Saya in the movie is a vampire then how can she go out in the daylight? Is she like Blade in some way? I didn't get this at all.

The CG animation looked wonderful and the 1.85:1 anamorphic picture on the DVD makes it even better. It also has a decent Dolby 5.1 track (the language is in both English AND Japanese-not either). But there is no point in buying this. Rent it. Blood: The Last Vampire is cool, but not worth buying.
