Summary: This is what Heavy Metal 2 should have been!
Review: Namely, a showcase of a great mix of animation styles - CGI and Cel blend into a story of intrigue and monsters - and the archetypal beast-hunter. Really - add more music and it could have been a segment of (lighters out please) Heavy Metal. That's the only shortcoming... it could have been a bit longer.

Summary: Blood thicker than water...though not better
Review: The latest release from Manga has killer hype behind it. Production IG (from Evangelion fame) and the creators of "Ghost in the Shell"...going to be top notch, right? I'm glad Sputnik7.com ran the stream from it. It's more of a rental, show off to your friends-type movie than anything else. Nothing remarkable or substantial is presented (sans the visuals), the story is ok at best, and the extras are non exsistant. Best bet is to 1) Rent it, 2) Buy into the hype (as in get Ghost in the Shell or Evangelion), or 3) Just get Blue Sub 6. Sure it's more, but at least it's more enjoyable to watch as oppose to this.

Summary: Something unique , but yet lacks
Review: I just bought this video today and a part me of is sorry I did . The story line needed to be Much longer then it was . The story doesn`t explain it self . For example who is Saya ? Why are vampires running a mock ? What is with Saya `s reaction when God is ever mentioned and so forth. Now I did say it was unique and here are my reasons .The animation is supurb . The movie has a combanation of both english and Japanese . Think of an Anmerican movie in an other country. Also the concept of the story is still intriging . Again what the movie lacked was a good and longer plot.

Summary: TOO short!....
Review: "blood the last vampire"... dvd resume:at the yokota Air force base in japan,a nervous american military is on the brink of the vietnam war.But a greater threat exists within the walls of the heavily guarded compound:Vampires. A team of top-secret undergound agents dispatches a mysterious young woman to destroy them...she is the last remaining original. the DVD: has some interesting features like: "the making of blood"...in this section, you can see interviews from the director, actors, composer, footages of the premiere, infos of how the project was realised. a theatrical trailer, photo gallery are also available...in the Manga extras: -manga video previews -websites -manga dvd catalogue ..etc. is it worth buying?... Only if you're a hardcore anime fan, otherwise dont bother. "blood the last vampire" has lots of great concepts and technicaly impressive animation, but it is not long enough...83mins..it also has some problems with it's plot & structure. director Hiroyuki Kitakubo (director of "Rôjin Z" , "Roboto Kanibauru" & computer artist of "Akira"),did an outstanding job with the look of the film, the 3D backgrounds & conventional animation both work perfectly. - writer Kenji Kamiyama (who also worked as the art director of the anime "Hakkenden shin sho") , almost ruined the entire film with it's poor plot and unexplained characters. actress Youki Kudoh (also apeared in films like "Snow Falling on cedars" , "heaven's burning" & "Mystery train"..),provides some exellent charisma to her character's voice (saya)... -but rebecca forstadt (also worked for "Trigun" & recently "Rurouni Kenshin the legendary swordsman"),is really unconvincing and mediocre. The Score: composed by yoshihiro ike & sound director both did a great job with the ambiance and mood of the film...with all it's mistakes,"Blood the last vampire" is a precursor, more anime movies will follow it's steps because of it's flawless and stunning animation. other anime suggestions: "KOKAKU KIDOTAI" (aka Ghost in the shell) , "Jûbei ninpôchô" aka (Ninja scroll) , "CYBER CITY OEDO tv-series trilogy" , "AEON FLUX" (tv-series)dvd , "THE MAXX" (tv-series)....

Summary: Could have been a Masterpiece
Review: I have been hearing a lot of buzz surrounding this movie so when I heard it was being released on DVD I knew I had to get it. It was from the makers of "Ghost In The Shell" and that was one of my favorite animes of all time, so I was expecting a lot from the the plot line and visuals. Well the visuals far exceeded anything I had seen in an anime, besides "Submarine No.6", the computer graphics was intergrated well with the character cells. The plot line was very intriguing, but left a lot of questions to be answered, hopefully they will prepare a sequel to answer some of these. The music was also top-notch and went well with the action in the movie. Another gripe I have is that the movie is entirely too short, they should have spent more time explaining some details in the movie. Well if you like great animation, than this movie is definetly for you, but if you like story lines that aren't vague and are easy to follow, than you might want to stay away from this one. Lots of blood and action will placate those who love action. Not a bad buy, but check out movies like "Ninja Scroll", "Akira", or "Vampire Hunter D", if you like vampire movies, before you get this one.

Summary: Visually stunning anime
Review: This is definetly one anime movie for your library. Althought the movie may be only about 50 minutes long, the animation alone is enought to buy this. Also, if you enjoy a lot of gore, you should definetly get this DVD. The only other flaw than how short it is is the storyline. The basic story is about a vsmpire girl who is asked to kill demons to solve a case of some sort. Other than those two flaws, this film is highly entertaining and full of non-stop action.

Summary: Good but if i could take it back i would
Review: Animation is out of control to be honest very clean and the encoding is decent as well.;Animation - A Story does not have enough back-up or follow up to really give Blood a good start or finish. More information on the characters would have givin this tons more depth! Also its only 43 minutes long! Do not be fooled by what it says on the case!;Story - C- Sound is also very well handeled by the boys over at production ig. Music fits niceley with scenes. Would've been nicer in 6.1, but is just fine.;Sound - B Extras acount for about half of the dvd's play time. Also it is pretty cool to see what goes into a production such as this. Other than the Making Of Blood feature there are'nt too many other goodies to feast on.;Extras - B Overall this was a decent effort. Animation and sound were just astounding. Story was to skin and bones and cries out sequel and when the sequel does happen for the love of anime make it at least an hour!;Overall - C+

Summary: A Small Taste of Blood
Review: DVD is an excellant format to showcase the "digital" animation technique used in Blood. If you like this style, and by all means you should as the animation is excellant, check out Blue Submarine No. 6. As for the story for blood its typical of anime that winds its way to America, it seems we're missing forstory and the ending of the story. What we're left with is a violent slice of a compelling story I hope we'll be able to eventually see more of. The DVD is well done and the extras are great. This would be 5 stars except for the short length of the feature.

Summary: Short but very sweet!
Review: I just "aquired" this movie and I was instantly captivated by it. The well written opening "train" scene was mesmerizing and it left me excited for what was to follow. Saya's character is strong and graceful and you won't want to blink when she is in action.

My only regret was that the movie was soooooo short. What is saya's story? Why is she the last? and whats with the sword fetish? more, more, more.

I am truly a "blood" junkie in need of another fix.

Summary: Watch it.
Review: I saw this Anime as a raw footage at last years Sakura Con, and was greatly amazed. The animation was stunning to say the least, and the story line was great. All in all, this is a great film, and I think other's would like it.
