Review: WOW! I just received The History of Trunks today and was BLOWN completely away. If you have yet to see this 'movie' you are missing out. This movie has it all. From love to hate, to the amazing battles we all love in the DBZ series. This DVD captures it all in one nice little package. Definetly get your moneys worth.

Summary: Simply fantastic.
Review: I must admit, Funimation impressed me greatly with this video. The music is different than in the series, and is more heavy metal/punk, going great with some scenes. The fighting scenes are also a treat. They're much more exciting than in the series, but that might be because it's a movie. It's also wierd to see #17 and #18 acting like actual siblings while torturing the Earth's inhabitants, since we don't see much of that in the present versions of #17 and #18. And when fighting, it seems they're the Hardy Boys(The Wrestlers) of DBZ, since they have excellent teamwork in this vid. Also, if you like villians with personality, Funimation won't let you down this time. The americans gave the androids an actual personality. #17 has this cruel, but teenaged peace of mind, while #18 acts like a typical older sister with the desire to kill humans and go shopping. In the japanese version, in my opinion, they had no unique personalities. If you are the type of fan who hates Funimation, gets angry because they cut out all the nude scenes and cuss words, bicker about the change of scripts, or complain every chance you get about how they supposingly ruined the series, I strongly suggest you put all that aside and watch the video. Afterall, there's a reason they take all that out. Just consider the fact that most kids who watch this, and are the main audience of the show, are only around the ages of 10-16, and even younger. This video is a must see for those who aren't picky, even the edited version is an okay piece of art in it's self. If you are picky about Funimation, watch the japanese version instead. I still LOVE the tape! I don't need cuss words or nude kids and buff men to be amused.

Summary: The movie itself is great . . .
Review: BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, CAN'T FUNIMATION LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE? Okay, I won't get started on what all dbz fans know of FUNimation and their butchering of a great series. But they could have at least left the music intact. I saw no sense in tacking on those useless pop songs and that jarring score, except to "Americanize" a Japanese show (God forbid), and appeal to the juvenile, prepubescent male children who unfortunately make up such a huge portion of Dragonball Z's viewing audience.

The film itself is wonderful, and if not for the U.S. producer's addled handling, it would get way more than five stars. Dragonball Z has never boasted the most outstanding animation, in my opinion, but it's good enough here. The story was heartbreaking, and the bleakness of this future world is truly felt. Because of this I can overlook the screwing with the script and the soundtrack, and keep an open mind as to whether or not the Texas group will get better with time. If you're willing to ignore the inconsistencies, then watch this version, but if you're a purist (and, fan of anime that I am, I admit that I am not) then you'd better get the DVD for the subtitled version.

Summary: Dragonball Z - The History Of Trunks
Review: The cruel and ruthless nature of the Androids in Trunks time line is revealed in this Dragonball Z TV special. This DVD contains both the original Japanese version and the English uncut dub. As always, my only complaint is FUNimations' lack of DVD extras and the repetition of the same previews over and over again from DVD to DVD.

Summary: Trunks: Behind the Saiya-jin
Review: I've been watching DBZ for at least 6 years now, starting back in the day of 3 and 4 generation copies of subtitled tapes from Chinatown. The Trunks story has always been my favorite and this DVD does it justice. In fact, the English version is way better than I thought it could ever be. The soundtrack to it was an added bonus...Dream Theater and Buckethead, along with others! Very cool. A must have DVD for DBZ and anime fans.

Summary: the best dbz movie yet
Review: first off, this really isn't a movie, its a tv special the legnth of a movie but you get the picture. anyway, this is the stroy of a young boy named trunks and the nightmare world he grew up in. if you watch dbz you will understand who the characters are and their backgrounds but if you haven't, you will still understand it. the only thing stoping me from giving this five stars is how some of the fight scenes drag a bit. other than that, a great movie.if you want to see it but don't want to spend allot of money, buy the tape and not the dvd and save a few bucks. i hope this review was helpful to you.
