Summary: Best single anime movie!
Review: I wouldn't say I've seen much anime. I don't have much access to it and don't have the money to buy all the expensive DVDS and don't get me started on dubbed vhs tapes. If it's not subbed, I can't stand it. Someone at school lent me the dvd, saying it was a favourite of hers. I watched it having already been warned of the controversial storyline and it blew me away.
Not only is the animation some of the greatest but not a single part of the story is lacking. I loved every part. I often end up only liking various parts of a storyline but there was nothing that I did not like.
So the ending might leave some wanting. I'm usually most dissatisfied with endings and this one while leaving me wanting more still had an enjoyable ending. It was an open ending, leaving hope for the future and a possible step into the original manga series (though I believe only half of the series has been published in english which is most dissapointing). I, myself, can't wait till I start finding copies of the manga.
A warning for those looking, there is some gore and controversial storylines that would not be suitable for children. I wouldn't suggest it for anyone under 16 but it's well worth the price for any anime lover.

Summary: Best Animation EVER
Review: Aside from the great story (if you want to know about that read some of the other reviews i won't spoil it here for those that don't want to know a thing) this is the SINGLE MOST BEAUTIFUL ANIMATION I'VE EVER SEEN.

and don't go thinking this is my first anime... I am a long-time anime fan.

The animation in 'Blood: The last Vampire' is nowhere near as impressive as this. EVERY SINGLE FRAME from this movie could make a decent background for my computer.

When i bought this i was doubtful at the sight of a male angel character. Before the movie even started, just seeing the DVD menu, all my doubts were gone.

BUY THIS ANIME NOW

I did have 2 minor gripes.
1) Subtitling was hard to read at times due to the black bordering on the yellow letters not being thick enough.
2) Doesn't leave you satisfied. I kept watching to see if there were any more episodes on the DVD.

Enjoy this anime people!

THIS ANIME IS A MUST-HAVE

Summary: Wow, I think im in love...
Review: Well after getting mixed opinions about it I though what the heck, It'll make a nice addition to my collection and if it was bad I could just trade it in @ music tradeer or something, but this is definatly a keeper. The animation is exquisit and story is even better. The melodramacy of the story line makes it so intense and you just can't take your eyes away. If anyhthing the only downside is that it doesnt go on long enough. It kinda left me hanging at the end.

Summary: A war between Heaven and Hell
Review: Wow. This DVD will captivate you entirely! If you haven't read the manga (japenese comic book) I must recomed you do first because if you don't the anime's plot may seem a bit choppy. All episodes on one disc makes it easy to watch and the graphics are completely beautiful. Yuki Kaori is the aouthor of the origanial manga and is a stunning person.
The story revoles around Setsuna, a "regular" boy. he is the incarnation of the great angel Alexiel who was banished from heaven and punished to be reincarnated and suffer a horibble life, one after the other. Setsuna finds himself in a struggle between heaven and Hell and he must choose the right path. However, his sister and love, Sara is at stake!
This is a great story that will most definately draw your attention!

Summary: Having not read the manga...I love it anyway
Review: First of all, I didn't find out that this anime was based on a 20 book manga until I explored the extras on the DVD. So I watched the OVA unbiased and unexpecting. Sure the conclusion of the OVA to most, would be seen as not a conclusion at all- leaving maybe some or even most unsatisfied. But personally, not having read the manga, I loved this anime. It was beautiful in itself, standing alone from the manga, because of the message it tries, and successfully conveys.

The content of the themes in this anime are explicit to first time viewers of anime because they are themes not generally accepted at all. Like incest for example- which is the basis for the love story expressed (which on the back of the cover of this DVD, was not mentioned at all) which was one reason I was surprised. Honestly, this theme was hard for me to accept and still is because of growing up in this society, and that is okay. Yet I can accept it to the extent in which I started to feel pity for the characters struggling inwardly and outwardly with this tanglement that society's ideals choked them with. Needless to say, this OVA questions those ideals generally accepted by the vast majority today- ultimately asking something like, shouldn't love be accepted in any shape, form, or wavelength. With the top priority to find love on almost everyone's list, if one should be lucky enough to find it, why punish or judge them for it?

Anyways, this is a beautiful OVA, letting those who allow it, to expand the growth of the mind, no matter how disturbing the content may be to some or misleading.--or even non concluding at the end.

I recommend this DVD to anyone whose mind can accept, employ, and appreciate themes unaccepted because of the majority to the extent that they can enjoy a thought provoking animation.

Summary: Definately Lacking
Review: I read the reviews on this and bought it since it had fairly good reviews... I think that was a major Mistake...

This is an OAV from a series. If you read the back of the DVD and if you look at the Editorial Review it makes this appear to be a stand alone OAV however it is not. After watching this I did more research and found that this was part of a major manga series and if you have not read the series then you will probably feel the same way I do about this OAV.

There are two problems I have with this OAV.

1. It has a several major themes but one of the major themes is that it is alright to marry your sister if you are in "love" with her. I have two sisters of my own and I find this idea very very disturbing and it made the whole Anime annoying to watch.

2. The other major issue I have with the Anime is the fact that the ending was horrible. I kept looking to see if maybe I skipped something or to see if there were another DVD that had the ending on it only to realize that the ending in this DVD is really the ending. It appears that maybe they didn't know how they wanted to end the OAV so they just decided to end it and not even worry about actually writing an ending to it. I have not read the manga series so the ending may make perfect sense if you have.

If you can accept incest and are not really looking for a clear cut ending then you may enjoy Angel Sanctuary. It has good artwork and some really good fight scenes in it.

Summary: I gotta admit--it left an impact on me.
Review: This series was incredibly creepy, but in a good way. I loved the way the music went with it. The storyline has great twists and turns, and I ended up really liking all of the characters, despite the fact that they did some--naughty things. The artwork was excellent, as many have pointed out. The only reason it's not a 5 is because I found the ending to be lacking--I assumed there would be another volume and more episodes, but it does say complete series. I want some sense of closure, and I didn't get it. But it's still worth buying. My poor Catholic roomate was watching it with me--I'm not so sure that was a good idea. Just make sure your anime fest friends are very open minded if you're gonna throw this one at them. ^_^

Summary: Dark Flowing Art Captures Me
Review: I've never been what one would call an anime fiend but I do have a few friends who are freaks about it all. They will you tell you that I am VERY PICKY when it comes to anime. For the most part-- series dubbed great almost unanimously I can't get into. I ran across this movie on the New Releases shelf at Blockbuster. As I checked it out, I thought to myself, "This is a very unlikely place to find good anime...but I'll give it a try." I was so wrapped up in the story line and watched several more times over the rental period of 3 days or so. I even watched it in English, which I have been told my self proclaimed "anime-experts" is not the true and good way to watch. I was so caught up in the religous and spiritual storyline. The idea of angels and demons not being per say righteous or evil because of what they are was the clincher. It was unlike anything I'd ever seen.. the dark art flowed across the screen...leaving me breathless. The incest storyline first threw me for a loop, I didn't think it was normal of anime. But after I was done watching it-- I really wanted them to be together and happy. It never really freaked me out-- because they loved each other dearly.. and that was all that mattered in my mind and heart. This is all-time favorite anime and I hope that the series continues in this format. 1: Angel Sanctuary, 2: Kite I have weird taste apparently--
Thanks for taking the time to read this... and email me if you'd like to talk about the DVD. Mykittyroo@msn.com

Summary: The new thing in anime
Review: The best thing about this anime is the art work. Absolutely amazing! Each character is drawn with amazing detail. Now, if you couple lovely art work with a spell-binding, twisting plot and a sure-to-be classic results.
Oh, forget all that, I LOVE KIRA!
'nough said.

Summary: Haunting . . .
Review: When I watched this movie, I totally felt for the characters (although I was somewhat offended by the incestuous content). However, it is a wonderful love story with great supporting characters. I've been wanting to read the manga series that it is based on but haven't been able to find it anywhere. Anyway, this was a really great episode and they should come out with many more!
