Summary: Arachnophobia Cure
Review: If you're scared of spiders, Charlotte will make you change your mind. Charlotte is a nice barn spider, species Araneus cavaticus. Most species of spiders are nice. There are 50,000 named species of spiders, and only 25 of those could possibly do any harm to humans. Wilbur is the cutest pig I've ever seen whom Charlotte consoles and befriends. She teaches him many lessons about life and love and attempts to save his life by spinning messages into her web to cheer Wilbur up and convince Farmer Zuckerman that Wilbur is pet material, for nonconsumption. You watch this movie, you'll never want to eat pork again. Charlotte bequeaths to Wilbur her yolk sac filled with 514 eggs. I saw this movie very recently while babysitting and watching children's movies nearly all day. This one impressed me the most. This 1973 film is definitely a barnyard, cartoon keeper. A must have for children, and adults like me too!

Summary: A perfect classic cartoon, and also many good lessons
Review: If your kids love classic animated movies, without any computer effects, and too many intense scenes, then buy 'Charlotte's Web'!
Debbie Reynolds are the charming and wise spider Charlotte, that saves the young pig Wilbur's life, Wilbur is perfectly voiced by Henry Gibson, all the songs gives the kids many lessons, just like all the songs in 'Land Before Time' do, the animation is not getting up beside Disney, but if you like old fashioned cartoons, 'Charlotte's Web' is a must have for all ages!

Summary: An under-rated classic!
Review: It goes without saying that Charlotte's Web is one of the best children's books ever written. This cartoon is a faithful and enjoyable portrayal.

The animation is obviously not up to modern standards, but is by no means weak. It is a shame that Disney seems to dominate children's videos because this is a true masterpiece. It is not nearly as sacharine as Disney cartoons. The story deals frankly with the sometimes harsh reality of farm life. The film teaches about life, death, friendship and the passage of time.

The musical numbers are beautifully done and the voices are perfect. The narrator adds so much and Paul Lynd is a terrific Templeton.

This is a fantastic story well told. I will always cry at the last line- It is not often someone comes along who is a true friend and a good writer;Charlotte was both. This is great for kids and anyone who ever enjoyed this wodnerful tale!

Summary: Great for preschool aged kids
Review: Most movies are too scary for preschool aged children. But Charlotte's Web is perfectly tame and enjoyable. There is death, but it is presented as sad, not scary. This is the only video that my 3-year-old doesn't need to fast-forward through parts of. And, of course, she loves watching it.

Summary: A Good Solid Movie for Teaching Compassion
Review: My kids love this video. Granted, the animation is not hi-tech. But kids aren't used to this type of animation, so it doesn't look as old to them. They enjoyed it thoroughly.

I was happy because while they were having fun, they were getting the message that compassion should be extended to all beings capable of suffering. What better lesson to teach our children?

Summary: Two films in one
Review: Ok, this is a real underated classic, with wonderful Sherman brother tunes after they defected from Disney. It represents the finest of Children's literature, the heartbreak, joy, and wonder of life. It is filled with funny songs, wonderously haunting yet simple ballads, really a precursor to the Ashman and Menkan musical animated features. Really wonderful, and it really grows on you.

BUT! What a cult classic. for those of you in love with 70's tv, let me give you a rundown, Pamilyn Ferdin, Danny Bonaduce, Dave Madden(Reuben from the Partridge Family) Agnes Morehead as a goose(T double e double r double r double i double f double i double ccc),Henry Gibson as Wilbur, Debbie Reynolds as Charlotte, and Paul Lynde as templeton. And some of the great cult moments...Wilbur's rear end move towards the camera and turns into his singing mouth, Templeton sings a double time song about fair garbage, then at the end reveals that he has become a father, and he chuckles luridly. So definitely check it out.... but be warned, it is an even better cult watch than a kids film

Summary: A worthwhile movie for children...
Review: Something you don't see too much of these days, a movie that is worthwhile for children. This is a movie that children can watch and parents don't have to worry about violence, too many scarry scenes, inappropriate attitudes or language. There really aren't too many movies available that are like that, worth buying. My children know all the songs and most of the lines, they are 3 and 7 and watch it together.

Summary: A timeless classic!
Review: Sometimes, while living our lives and going through our normal daily routines in adult life, we come across something by accident that takes you back to fond memories of your childhood. For me, one of those things is this timeless masterpiece by E.B. White. While channel surfing the other day, I came across an afternoon showing of this movie and found myself enjoying it just as much, if not more so, than when I used to watch it as a kid. Memories of happier, care-free days as a child all came flooding back and left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling and kinda made my day. I highly recommend you sharing this movie with any kid in your life and I guarantee it will be an experience that will forever be a part of their lives. The story is so endearing, powerful, and transforming (particularly to young, impressionable minds) that the experience of viewing it for the first time will be unforgettable.

I also want to add that most reviewers commented on the dated animation quality in this film and I can't tell you how much I disagree with this. The movie's story is the most compelling part of the movie as well as the superb acting voices used in the film. The pictures are almost secondary but absolutely adequate, and I believe, at times extremely appropriate. It goes to show how a timeless classic that is well done does not have to rely on special effects and visual wizardry to tell a good story. In my opinion, the artwork and animation suits the movie extremely well and is visually satisfying. It also helps keep the viewer focused on the story and its characters as opposed to the visual elements of the production.

I love and appreciate this film now as an adult just as much as I did when I was a child and can't wait to someday share it with my kids. It's a classic and should never be absent from any family's video collection!
